PUBG: Community speaks, Acer listens

0

The Acer Predator League 2020 caused many grievances in the community of PUBG PC in India which was regarding the qualifiers format, points system etc which pushed us to help the community and write an article on the same.

The number of games in the tournament was creating a problem among the community, previously it was a Best-of-1 format for the online qualifiers which has now been changed to a Best-of-5 format and in the LAN finals previously it was a Best-of-3 which has now been increased to a Best-of-5 as well. This was a big concern and was put up by us to which the organisers responded and did the needful.

The other problem in the tournament was the number of teams in a server which was 20 teams as per the previous rules but now it has been changed to 16 teams for qualifiers as well as the LAN Final happening in Bangalore.

The points system that was being used in the tournament was not acceptable in the current Meta and became obsolete but now after our report it has changed according to the point system which is in the Meta right now and followed in every tournament of PUBG PC worldwide.

Team TalkEsport is always with the community and will keenly help in growing the esports and gaming industry in India.

YaLLa Esports, Goliath Gaming receive direct invites for DreamHack Delhi

DreamHack Delhi is just around the corner and the fans have been waiting in anticipation to find out the teams that they will see in action in Delhi between December 6 to 8.

Lucid Dream had already grabbed one of the six available slots, winning the ‘Indian’ Online Qualifiers over Global Esports, with one slot going to the winner of the ESL Masters Fall LAN Finale in Hyderabad.

Four slots were kept for direct invites and now, DreamHack have announced two of them. Middle-Eastern stack YaLLa Esports, who have a history of competing in ESL Masters, have been handed a direct invite for the event.

YaLLa were also in attendance at ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2019 and suffered the same fate as Entity, bowing out in the Decider Match for their respective group to clock a Top 12 finish in China.

The other team that has been confirmed is South African team Goliath Gaming. The highlight or the star presence in the team is Dimitri ‘Detrony’ Hadjipaschali, who previously played for Bravado and was a part of the roster that won DreamHack Mumbai.

While the two teams are good in their own ways, fans will now be waiting to see if there is any high-profile team that is handed one of the two remaining invites.

The invite to YaLLa might also raise the question of a possible invite to Entity. The Indian team could not take part in the Indian Online Qualifiers due to ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND and have not qualified for the ESL Masters LAN Finale, which means they are set to miss DreamHack Delhi if they do not receive a direct invite to the event.

Acer Predator India qualifier: Players unhappy with rulebook and Qualifiers

Acer predator league is the biggest tournament for the PUBG PC players of India having the biggest prize-pool of INR 15 Lac and chance to represent the country in the Asia-Pacific finals LAN event.

Rulebook for the tournament states rules from the old scoring system which is outdated from more than 9 months and not the Super Rule-set which is now used in every PUBG PC Tournament.

Online Qualifiers format is far from optimal with only a BO1 match deciding the teams to qualify for the LAN in Bangalore which will lead to qualification of teams which have very less competitive experience and will lead to really mediocre level of skill group in the Bangalore LAN Final. 20 teams will be qualified for the LAN in Bangalore which is also not acceptable as tournaments in the current scene.

Many prominent players which are constantly participating in the tournaments in India have voiced their concerns over the use of a rudimentary point system and a non optimal qualifiers format which gives room for a-short-in-the-dark result rather than an optimal one. These players now want to reach out to the organisations involved and the scope of changes they are looking to purpose.

UPDATE: Acer India and The Organisers are changing the rule book and Qualifiers format from BO1 to BO5 online qualifiers and the LAN in Bangalore too being a BO5. The point system is also being changed to the system which are used in current Meta and the Number of teams for the LAN has also been reduced to 16 from 20 as per the PUBG Esports Super settings suggests.

A new Half-Life game to be announced this week by Valve

0

Valve the game developers behind the fan-favourite game series Half-Life is set to announce a new Half-Life game named Half-Life: Alyx, a flagship VR game this Thursday at 10am PT.

The new game wonโ€™t be a continuation of the Half-Life 2 story, but rather will feature the story of Alyx Vance, a young women and prominent figure from Half-Life 2โ€™s story, who played a major role in human resistance and was close friend to gameโ€™s protagonist, Gordan Freeman.

Although some fans might be disappointed as they were hoping to see the continuations of Freemanโ€™s journey, but we should not right off the game just yet. Valve might have a surprise lore about Freeman in Alyxโ€™s story which might also act as plot for the next game.

Right now, the game is staged to be a flagship VR title only and no confirmation for PC version is available at the moment. The release of flagship VR game follows Valveโ€™s release of โ€œValve Indexโ€, their own dedicated VR headset. At the time of reveal of Index, Valve had confirmed about a flagship VR game in works to be released before the end of the year.

Following that various leaks also surfaced about a Half-Life game in work, with the story script leaks by the writer to presence of codes in Source 2 engine referring to Half-Life. The talk heated yet again yesterday when a transcript of interview between Valve executives and a game broadcaster leaked online which stated โ€œMarch 2020, โ€˜Half-Life: Alyxโ€™ coming out.โ€

After the debate heated, Valve themselves posted about the upcoming announcement of the game on Twitter confirming the previous leak.
