ESL to host the first 2020 CS:GO Major in Brazil – Report

According to Jarek ‘Dekay’ Lewis, there is ample reason for Brazilian fans to get excited for 2020. The journalist revealed in his report for DLBTAP that the first major of 2020 is set to be held in Brazil.

As per the information gathered from his report, Rio de Janeiro will be the holy ground for CSGO fans in 2020, with the city holding the major.

Another positive point from the report is that ESL will be the organizer for the major that is set to be called the ‘ESL One Rio Major’.

The report from DeKay follows revelations from Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev on his Instagram Live Stream that the next Major is set to be held in Brazil.

The alleged choice of ESL being handed the event is a positive thing though. Not only have ESL hosted the most number of majors in CSGO history but they are the most experienced TO when it comes to events in Brazil.

Tencentโ€™s profits drop 13 percent in Q3 2019

0

Chinese gaming giant Tencent, known for their widely popular Battle Royale PlayerUnknowโ€™s Battle Ground have faced a loss of 13% off their profits. The company is under serious pressure from the Government of China because of its recent regulation which prevents its new game Perfect World Mobile to be monetized before 2020, domestic slowdown and competition from rival companies are among other reasons.

Tencent were projected to increase their revenue by 31% by the end of the third quarter of 2019, however, the afforementioned reasons held them back and they only managed a growth of 25%. The Chinese government has been strict with online games in the past months which are loosening their grip from the domestic market which is forcing them to develop games that appeal to the rest of the world. On top of that most America based game developers are finding it awfully difficult to get approval for their game by the Chinese Government.

โ€œWe think for the next two quarters U.S. games will be harder to get government approvals for,โ€ analyst Benjamin Wu said in an interview with Reuters.

Tencent despite of being under an economic situation has garnered other sources of income. Other than the complete ownership of Riot Games who developed League Of Legends, they have a massive 40% share in Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite as well as minor shares in Ubisoft and Activision.

What Makes A Music Game Popular in 2019?

1

Online music games are one of the most popular genres of online games. Whatever the age or interest, everyone listens to music and can somehow join the group. Dancing, singing and creating music are things that always make people happy, and online music games have become a great activity at house parties and other social gatherings.

Technology has played a big role in the development of rhythm games; from playing the piano on a screen to mixing songs on top of trendy tunes, the power of AI combined with the creativity of game designers has made music games trendy in 2019.

But what makes a music game popular is its ability to connect people emotionally. 2019 has made this statement even more accurate, as the most popular games are the ones that best engage players emotionally.

Thumper

Apocalyptic. Troubling. Captivating. Thumper uses brutal sounds to turn the most absurd music into the most vibrant tune you will ever hear. Each player can tune in and turn any kind of song into their own version of โ€œviolent soundsโ€ as the title of the game says. Itโ€™s about releasing creativity and any pent-up emotions. Because the game taps into individual emotions, it creates a more personal connection with players and successfully engages them.

The game was created by Drool – a former member of Harmonix –  and the rhythm was done by Lightning Bolt bassist Brian Gibson. They did a great job at making the violent sounds match the visuals full of colors, speed and lights. Thumper is appealing because it engages both visual and aural creativities. Even better, the game is available in virtual reality (VR), which creates an even more electrifying experience.

Guns Nโ€™Rose

Theย Guns Nโ€™Rosesย theme-slot game is inspired by the American rock band of the same name. Their song Appetite for Destruction reached the top spotย of the Billboard 200 a year after it came out. The game is an interactive immersion into the world of rock music, which also inspired classic slot machines back in the day.

Developed by Net Entertainment, the game features the most popular songs of the band including Expanding Wilds and Appetite for Destruction. Compared to a classic rhythm game, Guns Nโ€™Roses features many bonuses in the basic games, which gives players more opportunities to win. This feature was praised by a reporter who described the game as an โ€œepic release.โ€

Just Dance 2019

One of Ubisoftโ€™s most popular games, Just Dance keeps players engaged everywhere from house parties to the commuter train as the game is also available on mobile phones. The 2019 version has made players happier than ever. The new songs are from all corners of the world, with a particular emphasis on Latin music. It includes popular music like Havana by Camila Cabello and New Rules by Dua Lipa, but also Mi Mi Mi by Serebro and Hala Bel Khamis by Maan Barghouth. Players praised the wide range of new songs, as itโ€™s an opportunity to diversify their musical horizon.

The beats and rhythm of Latino songs also explain the appreciation of the new choreographies that are easy to learn. Many people started to play Just Dance as a way to workout while having fun, and the 2018 version was criticized for its offbeat choreographies.

Any Just Dance game will end up in either laughter or screams. Guns Nโ€™Roses will connect rock music fans from all around the world to share their passion with one another. As for Thumper, it is a psychedelic experience that will trigger deep conversations about emotions and creativity.

Beyond just music, these three games share one thing in common: human emotions that keep the players engaged and willing to play. Music choices are personal and itโ€™s hard to appeal to all kinds of audiences. But itโ€™s easy to attract an audience by tapping into their emotions.

Therefore, the use of virtual reality will continue to grow in 2020 and will be the way forward for more emotionally-intense music experience.ย

FaZe Ewok joins Mixer

0

FaZe Clan 2nd underage streamer Soleil โ€œEwokโ€ Wheeler has been another one of Twitch stars to jump ship to Microsoftโ€™s Mixer. Mixer has acquired the 14-year-oldโ€™s to exclusively stream on their platform. Ewok is a special steamer in her own right, despite having impaired hearing ability, she is one the best streamers around. Her success went to such an extent that FaZe Clan came through to sign her.

Ewok was nowhere near the fan following of Ninja or Shroud left for Mixer earlier, but she boasts a hefty 284000 followers on Twitch. She took part in the celebrity Pro-Am for the Fortnite World Cup where she was paired with singer Jordan Fisher. They finished 25th and walked away with $25000 and establishing herself as one of the best female pros out there.

Her debut stream date is not declared as of late but it is speculated to be in mid-November. Ewokโ€™s signing shows that Mixer is not just targeting streamers with huge fan following but also acquiring personalities from different backgrounds. Ewok unlike Ninja or Tfue ranked 261st in most viewed Fortnite channels and only has around 80hours of streaming making her signing a very tactical and pragmatic one for Mixer.

Bren Esports edge out Entity Gaming to progress to knockout phase

Bren won the pistol round on Nuke starting out on the less favoured T side. But, Entity came back strong on the subsequent round before running to a 6-1 lead early in the map, thanks to their controlled aggression supported by good backup. Entity’s dominated was evidenced by the fact that Bren managed to put the bomb down just once during that run. But, the Filipinos seem to have identified a weakness in Entity’s defence, with the Indian stack relinquishing ramp control easily. Bren chose to focus on ramp and the B site in particular; a strategy that immediately paid dividends, leveling the scoreline.

Bren then proceeded to mix it up and Entity found no answer to their offence, with the Ts ending the half 9-6, with an eight round winning streak. Eight soon became nine as Bren won the pistol after a good initial charge from Entity at A. The ensuing round saw BORKUM go huge with a 4k at ramp to extend Bren’s lead. Entity had to wait till Round 21 to get themselves on the board on the T side with a crisp A hit. Psy then went absolute ham near the ramp corridor, converting a 2v5 in Entity’s favour with a 4k and forcing Bren to take a timeout, with the CTs low on economy.

Consecutive 3ks from skillz towards the B site pushed Entity into double digits. But, Papi Chulo returned the favour with a 3k on his own, shutting down Entity’s attempt to take over A, with Bren winning the subsequent round to close the map out 16-10.

Entity started explosively on the T side on Mirage with a 4k from DEATHMAKER ensuring they win the pistol round. Entity converted the following rounds to race to a 3-0 lead. What followed this was four consecutive B hits from Entity, with Bren choosing to save their weaponry in each of those rounds. Amaterasu came up huge in the 8th round, registering a 1v3 ace clutch to extend Entity’s lead to 8-0.

Papi Chulo fired back with a 3k with his deagle at A palace to put Bren on the board. Another 3k, this time from Derek doubled Bren’s total rounds won on Mirage. Amaterasu and Excali though, retaliated with a 3k each in the following rounds before Bren pulled back two rounds to end the half trailing 4 to 11.

DEATHMAKER continued to dazzle with the pistol, with a 3k this time around to win it for Entity and put Bren further on the back foot. But, the Bren onslaught soon begun, with the Filipinos registering five rounds in a row. Entity and Bren traded rounds before the Ts soon gained control of the proceedings, leveling the score at 14-14. Entity though, dug deep down and managed to pull one out of the bag to close out the map 16-14 to push the game to the decider on Train.

Entity started Train on the CT side looking to gain momentum, winning the pistol round and the ensuing round. Bren Esports though, resorted to their B takes, forcing Entity into a 2-man save and opening their account on Train. A 1v3 from Papi Chulo leveled the scoreline and an A take after, it was Bren who took the lead. Entity though, were prepared this time around and hit back, restoring their advantage and racing to 6-3. Bren recovered from the Entity onslaught and managed to string some rounds together, ending the half 8-7 in their favour.

Derek made sure it was Bren who won the pistol round this time around, with a 3k of his own on the retake. The two teams went back and forth but Bren soon took control of the match, shutting down Entity’s offence and racing to a 15-9 lead. With Entity facing six elimination points, heroics from DEATHMAKER and Excali brought Entity to within four rounds of forcing an overtime. But, Bren prevailed, annihilating the Entity A offence to knock Entity out of Zowie eXTREMESLAND 2019.

Even though Entity failed to qualify for the knockout phase, we saw visible improvement within a day against Bren Esports, ergo the Indian stack showed their ability to learn from their errors.

OG looking to expand into CS:GO with a team headed by Ceb and N0tail

Dota 2 giant, OG might be on its way to make an appearance in the CS:GO scene with a potential new roster under works. Rumours of OGโ€™s potential move into CS:GO have been circulating for months now.

Recently the organisation registered a new company in Denmark aptly named โ€œOG CS:GOโ€, a daughter-company of the main OG Company. This information is publicly available on Denmarkโ€™s public records website and so its not just a rumour now and the two-time back-to-back The International Champions might officially make their way into CS:GO.

Further the documentation on the site reveals that the new company will be run by two-time Champion of The International, Johan โ€œN0tailโ€ Sundstein and Sรฉbastien โ€œCebโ€ Debs. Both N0tail and Ceb are listed as directors and owners of this new daughter company. While both players are still active in Dota 2, the new company wonโ€™t cause any conflict of interest with Dota 2 as they wonโ€™t actively compete in CS:GO and will only act as directors/managers.

Over the past months, several speculations of suspected roster move have also surfaced with some claiming French player Nathan โ€œNBK-โ€ Schmitt to head the CS:GO roster, although the company released no information about roster just yet, so this is just a mere speculation and so take it with a grain of salt.
