This will be the second edition of the tournament, PUBG Mobile India Series 2019 being the first edition that was held last year and ran for almost 4 months. It was undoubtedly the biggest PUBG Mobile tournament to be held in India for its PUBG Mobile fans and players across the country.

Sponsored by Oppo, PUBG Mobile India Series 2019 had a prizepool of 1.5 Crore INR (almost $200,000 USD). Team SouL which included Soul Mortal, Soul Ronak, Soul Owais and Soul Viper were the winners of PMIS 2019 with 2520 points and 46 kills and they went home with a winner’s trophy and cash prize of 30 lakh INR. God’s Reign were the first runner up with 39 kills and received a cash prize of 10 lakh INR whereas team Funky Monkey were the second runner up with 23 kills and received a cash prize of 5 lakh INR.

The MVP award from PMIS 2019 went to KK from team God’s Reign who received 50,000 INR, while the title “Rampage Freak” went to Soul Ronak from team SouL who also got 50,000 INR. Also, all the 80 finalists from top 20 teams were awarded with a brand new Oppo F11 Pro smartphone.

For PMIS 2020, we will have to see when the registrations will start, what will be the entire process and what will be the total prizepool this year.

CSGO: Windigo still waiting for their $500,000 WESG 2018 tournament winnings

Windigo, 7 months prior to shutting down their CS:GO operation in October 2019 had an amazing run at the WESG $500,000 tournament. It was the most notable achievement for the Bulgarian underdogs who had performed on a different level back then to secure their win. Since then everything didn’t go as planned for the CS roster and the team faced constant upsets in following tournaments which eventually lead to their disbanding. The announcement of Windigo’s CS roster disband came as a shock for fans because the primary reason for the action was stated to be a lack of cash flow by the management.

The management had stated that the team failed to receive payments from multiple events and WESG was among them. As per the statement, the team needed $125,000 (25% of their WESG winning) to keep the operation going. Sadly, the prize winnings at WESG never showed up in the bank account for Windigo and under the growing pressure of better conditions and higher wage demands of the players along with a lack of sponsors, the entire CS operation for Windigo came to a halt. In a Reddit post marking Windigo’s CS operation closure, Maksym Bednarskyi the cop-owner of the organization blamed E2Tech and ESL of withholding prize money which leads to the inevitable shut down of the organization’s cash flow.

Both, E2Tech and Alibaba (Chinese company behind WESG) countered the accusations by claiming that the funds had been transferred multiple times but had been declined by the banks. This was further linked to a bureaucratic problem relating to the multiple bank accounts that Windigo had in different countries. In an effort to neutralize these issues, Windigo had made a new bank account and had tried to receive their winnings but more complications arrived in the form of Honk Kong protests and the outbreak of COVID-19 which further delayed the payment deadline to February 24, 2020.

With all the odds stacking up against Windigo and WESG failing to deliver the prize money within their set deadline, the management is currently thinking of taking legal action against WESG if things escalate further.

NiP beat legacy NiP, now Dignitas 2-0

The ESL One: Road to Rio has begun and it is full of surprises and upsets, with Copenhagen winning from contact and Moviestars upsetting Mousesports. We had a very interesting game between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Dignitas as the current lineup of Dignitas used to be the previous lineup of NIP back in the days which used to be a crowd favorite as it had some stars like – Christopher ‘Get_Right’ Alesund and Richard ‘Xizt’ Landström. Although we saw the Ninjas easily winning both the maps  16-9 on train and 16-3 on vertigo and closing out the series 2-0 comfortably.

The first map of the game was train which was picked by Dignitas and NIP chose to start at ct side. According to the previous stats for train, NIP had a zero percentage of winning the map and Dignitas looked stronger in comparison. The first round started with Fredrik ‘Rez’ Sterner getting a quad kill with his Usp and giving NIP a good start. Håkon ‘Hallzerk’ Fjærli tried to pull some rounds for Dignitas but failed which ended them losing the first half 6:9. Although the second half eco round saw some great shots from ‘Get_Right’ and he tried to pull his team back in the game. NIP replied back with the first gun round win and we saw some heroic rounds from ‘Lekro’ and ‘Rez’ throughout the game and it was just 3 rounds for Dignitas in the second half and NIP closed the first map 16:9 which was quite unexpected seeing their stats on this particular map.

The second map of the game was Vertigo which was picked by NIP and it was a much stronger map of the Ninjas than compared to train. The first round of the game was picked up by Dignitas with Patrik ‘f0rest’ Lindberg taking a 4K with his Usp and defusing the bomb just on time and giving a lead to Dignitas on the first round of the map. However, NIP did a force buy in the next round which saw Nicolas ‘Plopski’ Zamora taking two kills and ‘Friberg’ being knifed by ‘Rez’ from behind giving NIP the round and equaling the scoreline to 1-1. In the next round, we saw ‘Get_right’ hitting some amazing shots and securing the round for his team but after that, it was a total massacre for team Dignitas as the Ninjas went crazy with ‘Plopski’ getting a total of 16 kills just in the first half and closing out the half 13-2 which was totally unexpected as Dignitas started quite decently on the map and were expecting a much better result in the first half. The second half started with Tim ‘nawwk’ Jonasson going insane and getting 6 kills in the round which also included one of his team kills and the Ninjas quite easily closed out the map 16-3 and won the series 2-0.

It’s Official: ScreaM has the highest headshot % in CSGO

“Headshot Machine” for a reason, Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom is officially the player with the highest headshot percentage in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The hltv profile of the Belgian professional CSGO player ranks him #1 in the world in terms of headshot percentage currently. The 25-year-old “1-tap machine” is currently rocking a headshot percentage of over 68% – a number most CSGO players could only dream to achieve.

The man also has well over 27000 kills in competitive CSGO, and maintaining a headshot percentage so high spread across such a huge number of kills is definitely not a small task. ScreaM also boasts a 1.13 kill/death ratio and an ADR of 79.1 – both of which are extremely impressive numbers, especially at the highest levels of competitive Counter-Strike.

ScreaM has been in the competitive scene since 2010, starting with Counter-Strike: Source and currently plays as a rifler and entry fragger for Team GamerLegion in CSGO. His approximate total winnings from professional Counter-Strike are about 250,000$. He has played for some top European teams including Team Envy and G2 and is still often regarded as a “1-tap god” or a “headshot machine” by his fans; and looking at the numbers it appears that they aren’t wrong.

Wondering how he does what he does? Here’s a list of his gaming gear and settings as mentioned in his Liquipedia page.

  • Mouse: FinalMouse Classic Ergo

Valorant Ranked competitive coming after Patch 0.49

0

VALORANT has achieved some ground-breaking success in its closed beta stage. The devs behind the game have put in a lot of effort to make the game better for the players and to ensure its place as an esport title. Riot’s competitive shooter has managed to hold its head up high against giant rivals like CSGO and Rainbow Six Siege and has already broken their record viewer counts on Twitch even before the official release of the game.

Ranks in Valorant // Via Riot Games

With a great fan following comes greater demands from the game. Fans have already started asking Riot Games to develop a competitive mode for VALORANT in its closed beta stage, and it seems like Riot has listened to its fans once again.

Through a tweet on April 24, Riot has announced that the much-anticipated competitive mode for VALORANT is just on the horizon.

They also included a detailed blog post by Ian “Brighteyz” Fielding – Senior Producer behind the game – and Sean “Drevarius” Szopinski – Senior Designer – to walk fans through the update that’s to come.

The blog post states that VALORANT’S competitive mode will be using mechanics and formats as the unranked one, “but with a focus on higher-stakes competition.” They also warned users that even after the release of the competitive mode the devs might have to put it down occasionally “to refine the mode” and incorporate user feedback.

They assured gamers that they’re gonna do things differently than other competitive games by reducing the common “pain points” players experience by taking personal player skills into account. They also mentioned that they’ll “combat smurfing” and reduce the number of players with “boosted” ranks.

Here’s the summary of the update as exactly mentioned in the blog post by Riot

  • Complete 20 Unrated matches to unlock Competitive mode
  • 8 ranks, 3 tiers each, except the top rank, VALORANT
  • Queue with up to 5-player parties, must be within 2 ranks
  • Rank isn’t displayed if competitive matches aren’t played within 14 days, but your rank doesn’t decay behind the scenes.
  • Closed beta rank does not carry over to launch

To clear things up about the competitive integrity of the game, they said, “Our rank and competitive matchmaking system is meant to deliver a balanced fight and keep the disruption to a minimum.”

The full details of the update can be seen in the blog post here.

Valorant players report massive FPS drop after new update: Riot responds

0

A new patch for VALORANT was released on wednesday after a global maintenance. The patch implemented several fixes to the game and brought some nerfs to Raze and Sage. However, ever since the update was released, several players reported to have encountered major FPS drops and performance issues in Riot’s new title.

Some users also reported network problems like packet losses and stuttering instead.

in VALORANT

VALORANT is a first-person competitive shooter, where every frame is crucial. A sudden drop in FPS can easily determine a round, if not the entire game. It’s not surprising to see the community speak up about a major issue like this. More and more posts began to surface on Reddit addressing this issue and how it was making the game “unplayable”. People with seemingly decent rigs also reported encountering performance issues.

Surprisingly, the update which Riot had issued didn’t contain any changes that might have an impact on the performance whatsoever. So, this kind of performance issues were strange and uncalled for. Fans wanted to hear something from Riot themselves, and Riot didn’t disappoint its fans.

In a reply to a thread, Riot_Milkcow – one of the members of Riot’s team – said that they “take performance seriously” and that they’re actively “investigating” on the subject. He further said that, “(we) think we’ve found what is causing this issue for some players but need test and validate it before pushing it to the live build. This may take a bit of time but we’re on it.”

When another user asked them about the “way higher ping times than League” and occasional packet losses in Florida, RiotStealthyJesus – technical engineering lead for VALORANT – assured him that “This is being actively worked on.”

It’s really nice to see the developers constantly communicating with fans of the franchise rather than just shipping occasional updates to fix the issues. These kinds of open communication between the players and the devs will certainly go a long way to cement the future of VALORANT as an esports title.

These 16 teams would then be distributed into four Round-Robin groups where they would face each other twice in Best of one matches with top two sides from each group advancing to the single elimination playoff brackets.

At BLAST we love the elite and allow everyone to be a part of Premier through the Qualifier Series and the Race to the Global Final, but have created BLAST Rising to support teams and players at all stages of their careers, By giving teams and players more opportunity and exposure in the way the only BLAST can, we want BLAST Rising to be a platform that drives forward their personal and team growth.

Nicolas Estrup, Director of Product and Experience for BLAST

Also, we got to hear something from Krzysztof Stypułkowski, Co-founder of Fantasyexpo who commented, “BLAST Rising tournament will be an amazing experience for esports fans as well as the players, who will participate in. The structure of the tournament is organized in a way so it can provide a lot of emotions from the first matches until the very final. Mixing the teams from different HLTV levels will spice things up and allow lower-ranked teams to fight with those better than them, which can bring a lot of surprises and game-changing action. I am very happy that we are organizing this tournament together with BLAST.”

Travis Scott’s music concert in Fornite breaks previous viewers record

0

Through a tweet earlier, the Fortnite team has proudly proclaimed that they have once again outdone themselves. The battle royale has set yet another milestone for themselves as the Travis Scott event saw the game reach well over 12 million concurrent players – a figure that most other titles can only hope to achieve. For comparison, CSGO recently set a record for 1.3 million concurrent players and Fortnite’s record was almost 10 times that number.

Epic Games had earlier announced news of them collaborating with rapper Travis Scott and holding a live concert in Fortnite. The concert gained unprecedented attention from fans as 12.3 millions of them jumped in-game to catch the concert live, breaking the previous record of about 10 million players set during a concert by Marshmello, a popular DJ.

Fans who couldn’t catch the live concert in-game resorted to streaming platforms like Twitch, YouTube and Mixer to see the action unfold. According to a report by Lightshed, the event gathered 1.2 million viewers on YouTube, 833k viewers on Twitch and 25k viewers on Mixer.

Travis Scott himself didn’t hide his joy surrounding the event either, he soon tweeted about how much he enjoyed being a part of the event.

Don’t be sad in case you missed the first Travis Scott concert, because there are four more to come. The dates of the next concerts are as follows:

  • Europe and Middle East – April 24, 7 AM PT
  • Asia and Oceania – April 25, 9 PM PT
  • Europe and Middle East – April 25, 8 AM PT
  • America’s – April 25, 3 PM PT

PMPL Scrims season 3 to be the ultimate clash of top Asian squads

0

With the actual PUBG Mobile Pro League tournament for South Asia stuck at a standstill, the concept of pro team scrims was introduced. The main motive of these scrims is to keep the viewers engaged and to not let the event’s hype die down. Two seasons of the scrims involving only South Asian teams have concluded and it looks like we will have a third season as well.

What makes this season unique is that this time, the top South Asian teams from the previous scrims will be facing the top squads from South East Asia as well. 20 teams will be from South Asia and India region and 4 new teams namely Team Secret, Bigetron, Illuminate the Murder and Morph will be joining them.

There will be 3 groups comprising of 8 teams each:

Group A

  • Bigetron RA
  • Illuminate the Murder
  • Godlike
  • UMumba RXN
  • Team Hype
  • Jyanmarra
  • Marcos Gaming
  • Team Soul

Group B

  • Morph Team
  • Celtz
  • Instinct Esports
  • VSG Crawlers
  • Team Xtreme
  • Orange Rock
  • Team IND
  • Deadeyes Guy

Group C

  • Team Secret
  • Fnatic
  • Megastars
  • TSM Entity
  • Elementrix
  • Synerge
  • Team Tamilas
  • Powerhouse

Each group consists of a fairly balanced combination of teams from each region. In the past two seasons of the scrims, Indian teams were unquestionably dominant as the South Asian squads were lagging behind in every aspect. With the entry of 4 new fearsome squads, it will be interesting to see whether Indian teams can keep the performance going.

PUBG Mobile Pro League Scrims Season 3 begins today at 6 pm and you can catch all the action live on PUBG MOBILE Esports Youtube channel.

Stay tuned for more news and updates!
