Facebook announces Gameroom to compete with Steam

0

Facebook announced Gameroom just a day ago to compete with PC gaming. Facebook has aggressively rolled out its Windows gaming platform.

Gameroom will let the users play web-based and mobile ported games in an independent dedicated Windows app. The major competition and barrier to Facebook would be competing and keeping up with the features, reliability, and security as strong as its American rival, Steam. If Facebook indeed manages to persuade gamers to migrate to their gaming system with flavored social feed, then there’s a long way to go for the social media giant.

Gameroom

The time when developers and publishers like miniclip and Zynga lured in web-based gamers into the Facebook’s very own application system, the era of smartphones completely shifted the focus of the gamers onto Mobile gaming. Android killed the web-based games.

But now, with this move, facebook not only can re-gain the potential million users from the PC Gaming bait, but can also integrate their social lives with professional ones. Facebook has every aspect of the features expected by users who tend to stay online and mark their virtual presence. With Facebook Live venturing into Esports recently aiming to compete with Twitch and YouTube Gaming, Facebook now also dares Steam with its massive presence in the social media industry.

From selling games to allowing them to stream it live or gathering feedbacks on beta releases, Facebook can definitely be the global leader in the gaming industry if it plays the cards right. The app is available for users to download on Windows. When you install the client, you are asked to log in with your Facebook account, and you’ll be dispensed with a spotlight screen of ‘Editor’s Choice’ games and titles organised by type. A category page lets you view all available games in a given genres, while any games you already play on Facebook that are compatible with Gameroom will appear in a column on the left.

Facebook to establish Esports broadcasting service through its Live platform

0

The Esports scene is emerging, with big companies like Amazon venturing into esports, we shouldn’t overlook the facts of how Valve Corporation puts in millions to organize the majors and even gets millions generated through the community for the annual DotA 2 – The International.

According to reports by Engadget, Facebook is currently in talks with the developer of the mobile MOBA Vainglory, Super Evil Mega Corp. for a potential deal of streaming professional matches on the Facebook Live platform. However, according to Kristian Segerstrale, Super Evil Megacorp’s chief operating officer, it seems that nothing has been into the papers.

Facebook Live

The report goes on to add that Facebook is also in talks with major publishers such as Activision to get the rights to stream more eSport competitions, but whether or not anything will materialize from these talks remains to be seen.

Previously, Internet giants like Google also have shown their interest in Esports via introducing the YouTube Gaming categorically for Esports. Also not to forget that Activision, world’s largest game publisher announced improvements it plans to implement to its various esports platforms, most notably a push to broadcast esports to the masses via the massive social networking site.

Dare2Dream disqualified from ASUS Rog Masters

In a shocking turn of events, Team Drag2Death which got qualified to ASUS Rog Masters scheduled in Malaysia, has been denied a slot following their roster changes, BOT from UAE have been given the opportunity to participate in the $50,000 event which is taking place from 12th to 13th of November.

Indian Esports is at its historical peak right now. With international events reserving slots for Indians, we are to the highest degree of acknowledging the offered respect, overseas. But what still lacks is the sincerity, the prediction of a better future. Indian CSGO was recently the victim of a parenthetical approach or rather unpremeditated undertaking which resulted in an Indian team disqualified from a two-month-long event.

Dreams shattered as Sabyasachi Bose will no longer be participating in Asus ROG Masters
Dreams shattered as Sabyasachi Bose will no longer be participating in Asus ROG Masters

We are talking here about the Indian team which qualified through the ROA slot at Asus ROG Masters. Team Dare2Dream which also happens to be the franchise of the organizers of the event, Drag2Death. I recently covered and congratulated the qualified team and their youngest player Sabyasachi ‘antidote’ Bose in a story. Unaware of the fact that they were already in a mishap, they were ineligible to travel abroad due to unavailability of travel documents. The lineup, which is supposed to be one of the top four in the country, failed to prepare themselves for the international opportunity.

Why Dare2Dream got disqualified from Asus ROG Masters

There are two sides of the story, as usual, it is you, the reader who chooses which one to believe. I have personally gone through both the sides and found out this could have been dealt with, resulting in a different outcome.

The first side of the story where you blame the Indian system and constitution. Why were they disqualified? They were not. The disqualification came in after rumors were being speculated that Dare2Dream tried to contact players of different teams asking them to play under D2d for the Malaysian event. But while being in touch with D2d players, we got informed that D2d pulled out of the event due to lack of travel documents and players refusing to represent their team at the international level.

Two of their players had no passports, and as they tried to avail the passport through ‘Tatkaal’ schemes, they were denied brutally by the officials, says Amol Bharti, CEO of Drag2Death (the parental organization to Dare2Dream). I have myself gone through the details and the context of the email and can confirm the authenticity of his attempts to get the fresh passports. Unfortunate for the guys who were excited to travel all the way to Malaysia with the tri-color flag. D2d blames the passport authorities for the mishap.

Why the team participated when they had no travel documents?

The second side of the story is interesting. When I say factual, it designates the objectivity of the situation. The other end, which happens to be the prime reason of disqualification is a continuation of the first side. Dare2Dream were unable to attain travel documents (which is mandatory for all the international events) after getting qualified for the finals. They then swiftly got in touch with the players of one of the reputed Esports organization in India, directly. The management was not informed. Players, however, seemed to have been interested in participating but were not allowed by the senior authorities. Dare2Dream went ahead and submitted their new line of professional players with passports regardless of their affiliation with other teams which in turn, resulted in the international forum declining the team participation. As a general rule, a team can’t change more than 2 of their players after getting qualified for a tournament.

The teams and players in question need not be named, but the only regret which holds us back is.. this could have been avoided. Had there been seriousness and strictness when accepting participation in the international events, this could have been avoided. We missed out on our chance to raise a flag in the Malaysian festival. When organizers such as ESL request proper travel documents at the time of registration, why not in this case? Why was a team allowed even to participate when they didn’t have proper charter as basic as a passport?

There is a lot to question about, but the results are indefensible. Dare2Dream will not be traveling to Malaysia to represent India.

Top CSGO players in Pakistan

0

Pakistan CS:GO community has grown a lot in recent years. Even though we started slow and steady when the whole world migrated to the new version of the game, we will be the difference maker in near future.

Not only the professional players and teams, the community also supports and accepts the change. I have been focusing on covering the Counter Strike side of the Esports industry in Pakistan for two weeks now. The support and viewership from the Pakistani people and their interest in knowing the players have been amicable. This is my third part of the set, where I will be covering the individual talents, furthermore their achievements.

Two more stories are drafted prior to this. Should you wish to read them they are published here:

Syed ‘HARMZ’ Arsalan

harmz

HARMZ is one of the most highlighted players in Pakistan. He started his CS journey with Counter-Strike 1.6 on LAN only in early 2006 and started playing online in 2010 till 2012. He then switched to CS: GO with Team beastly, played 4 months then the team got disbanded. He went to play a tournament in Karachi for 1.6. His friend invited him to play CS: GO as well. He beat Pakistan’s best team on LAN at that time (Amigos), they used to call him a hacker before that so he proved himself and since then all of Pakistan knows him. After the event, they invited him to play for their team.

They offered him sponsorship so he and his brother (MEETYOURMAKERS) joined them in 2013, they won 3 tournaments with that team on LAN in Karachi. In 2015 he got a better offer from team VG. He played in team VG for 2 months then the team got disbanded because of sponsorship issues. He then got an even better offer from Team Game4Glory, from then till now he is in G4G.

HARMZ was asked what CS: GO meant to him and if he thought it was considered an eSport in Pakistan. He answered: “Obviously, this game is considered everywhere in the world, then why not Pakistan? It’s been my passion since the start, I am very much motivated and focused, but the current situation in Pakistan is very disappointing.”

In most of my coverage all across different segments, I have managed to derive it from the research that all we lack is regulations, events, and sponsors’ trust. I don’t blame companies for not being a part of the sponsorship line but things have just started to fall in place and expecting companies to pour in hundred thousand should be very eccentric.

The state and industry are still an ambitious dream for Pakistan and elsewhere. We are yet to be identified professionals in the diligence of digital gaming. I’ll be starting to cover the gaming events as they go!

Bravado knocks out Overcome 2-0 from ESWC 2016

In what comes as a non-shocker, the Indian side, Overcome, got knocked out of ESWC 2016 after getting defeated by Bravado in the loser brackets. They lost 0-2 (9-16 cobblestone, 11-16 cache) in the best of three Group B elimination match.

Team Overcome, which got matched up against Bravado in the loser bracket after they got decimated by Heroic 1-16, had their last chance to make their stay longer than a day. The South African team which had no notable International exposure previously were able to beat Overcome 2-0 comfortably.

Not to overshadow the fact that Bravado came into the loser brackets after getting defeated by LDLC 9-16, who had the famous Belgian Ex6TenZ who has the experience of been played in 7 majors.

Dare2Dream suffered in the delayed passport heckle with officials

0

Delays and problems are part of our lives. But you wouldn’t want to be a victim of such delay which can ruin your potential career. Such is the story of Dare2Dream’s player, a member of the professional Esports organization from Bangalore.

Sabyasachi ‘antidote’ Bose is a professional Counter Strike athlete, he has experience in the game of more than 6 years. Recently, he along with his team got qualified to the Malaysian event ASUS Rog which is scheduled on 12th and 13th November.

I got in touch with the owner of the team Amol Bharti, who was deeply saddened by the fact that the Passport Seva Kendra treated them in the worst possible manner. He shared all the documents related to the passport application of his player and it was evident that he was indeed telling the truth about the delays he and his player had to face. Amol wrote a letter to certain media outlets and we have the copy of the same.

Read the letter below:

Mr. Sabyasachi Bose (Age 20 Year) who studied till 9th standard was asked to produce Matriculation certificate (10th standard) whereas on the application form his education qualification was mentioned between 6th and 9th standard appropriately. He was asked to meet Kolkata PSK DPO when he appeared for his appointment on time and after waiting for 2 to 3 hours he met Mr. S.R. Das who denied his passport for tatkaal stating that he need to pass 10th standard to apply for tatkaal passport.

The boy mentioned the urgency for playing for the Country at the Asus ROG Masters Malaysia where he was supposed to be part of the Indian contingency team who won from Asus ROG Masters (Rest of Asia) beating other Asian countries and qualified for the Finale tournament. This did not made Mr. S.R Das to reconsider his plea and instead he asked the boy to leave and get 10th certificate. The boy repeatedly mentioned that he is not 10th pass per his education and asked Kolkata PSK DPO to give this in written, upon which Mr. S.R. Das got very angry and said the Rule is what I say.

Mr. S.R. Das treated the boy with unprofessional behavior and asked to leave the premises by pointing fingers towards the exit gate. We request you to take this complaint against the official and check CCTV footage of his behavior and suffering of Indian eSports legendary player, Mr. Sabyasachi Bose.

The urgency is because we need to apply for Visa and details needs to be sent to Tournament Officials ASAP.

Amol Bharti and his organization even went ahead by Tweeting to the Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs, but failed to retrieve a response. In a state of time when Honeymoon tweets get thousands of attraction, the cultural sports urgency was overlooked.

We urge you to share the article and let this get maximum traction so that Dare2Dream has their heads high at the international tournament with our flag.

Top CSGO teams in Pakistan

1

Pakistan is in a state to accept the revolution of online multiplayer and video games. But due to the third world problems, the skeptical perception remains at the original head. People hesitate to accept esports as an actual sport. But today we will be only covering the top teams. Know the top CSGO teams in Pakistan as of October 25th, 2016.

Yesterday I did a story on the Pakistan state of Esports, how the community has been building itself, the inception of the events. And how they were able to give tough competitions to the Mongolian powerhouse.

TOP CSGO Teams in Pakistan

Unpredictable I was with the positive response, I have got the story which was viewed interestingly more than 4000+ times now at the time of filing this article. Today, I have chosen once again to take your time and be informative about the top teams in Pakistan in CS: GO.

Game4Glory

Game4Glory is arguably the oldest Pakistani counter-strike team that has managed to stay together through thick and thin. Founded by Zubair “$Bills$” Jafar and Zeeshan “Zeeky” Khan in 2011, Game4Glory has always been one of the best teams in Pakistan and has consistently dominated for the most part even with significant changes to their lineup regularly. The initial lineup consisted of $Bills$, KLnT, RacHeT, AVG and Zeeky.

Now, $Bills$ is no longer part of the main lineup, yet still, manages to stay in the scene partially. The lineup evolved throughout the years, with notable players such as “MDA” and “erazor” being part of it throughout the evolution. The team’s current lineup consists of HARMZ Zeeky Klnt HSB and AVG.

Here’s what Zeeky, the IGL of the team said when asked how he feels about the game and his take on CS:GO as a career.

It is the most important part of my life. Studying, employment and life, in general, will continue irrelevant to CS: GO it but with CS: GO at least that boring part of my life is not boring. We have been in this game for quite some time and will continue to be in the scene at least for the next few foreseeable years. For each one of us our boring life may continue as usual but our future plans are to bring CS: GO and eSports to a bigger platform in Pakistan.”

Elusive.Pk

Elusive.pk was founded in January 2016, making it a relatively new team in the Pakistani gaming scene, however, that did not stop it from climbing up the ranks and claiming a spot as a top-3 team. The team was founded by Roohan “Naughtyyy” Sajjad along with Fahad “MUSE” Fayyaz and Anas “saeeiN” Baig. The initial lineup was comprised of Zon, MUSE, Naughtyyy, ShahJ and saieeN.

The lineup continued to change and the team was quite unstable with players such as Jordream, KanE and fredJ being part of the family for a short duration. The team still managed to be successful despite their shaky lineup.

The current lineup is SaeeiN , MUSE , Naughtyyy, luDaCriS, BravO with Syed Jhangir Gillani (AcE) as their manager.

Here’s what Naughtyyy had to say about CS: GO:

“Don’t let the GGs get to your head, whether favorable or not. The lineup for Elusive.Pk is finally quite stable so we’re looking to improve in the coming months. With the grace of god, we’d like to keep pursuing our dream of breaking the limits to bring the CS: GO and gaming scene to the spotlight in Pakistan.”

Achievements:

The team managed to secure the following places:

3-4th at WESG South-Asia Qualifier 2016
3-4th at Apbox CSGO Tournament by Telenor 2016 (LAN)
2nd at Pak eSports Expo CSGO 2016 (LAN)
2nd at Gooline Gaming festival 2016 (LAN)
2nd at Electronic Sports Festival (ESF) 2016 (LAN)

The three teams, G4g, Elusive.PK and INteX Gaming are widely recognized as the top CSGO teams in Pakistan. Other than teams and organization, Pakistan even have sets of individual talents who have achieved a lot when it comes to winning tournament and contributing their team of their skills. I will be doing another piece shortly on the individual talents in Pakistan.
