Genshin Impact improves security with two factor authentication

0

Game Developer miHoYo has finally implemented the Two-factor authentication (2FA) on Genshin Impact.

In the last couple of years, there have been a plethora of cases where players have reportedly lost their gaming accounts across Steam, Blizzard, and various other platforms.

Back in November 2020, a similar mishap within MiHoYo where multiple contact details, those of players were compromised by a security breach. This was indeed followed by yet another data leak later in December, endangering the fate of their Email IDs.

Soon, the issue was reported by the player base and too by a plethora of content creators where some of them were unable to retrieve back their accounts despite the fact of already having made some expensive in-game purchases. These issues have finally been addressed by miHoYo and a security fix has been deployed in the game.

Players enabling 2FA must have access to the Email Address associated with their Genshin Impact account.

Upon logging in from a new device, the game will now prompt the players to enter a code, which would be sent to their credentials once a login request is made. This layer of protection will be made as a default way to sign in once the update is shipped into the game by miHoYo

Sony Likely to Introduce its Own Esports Betting Site

0

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has registered a patent for a betting platform on May 13, 2021, according to a report by Vida Extra. Filed by Michael Chow, the patent for an esports betting platform will likely provide several probabilities surrounding the bet. Mr. Chow is a machine learning engineer for PlayStation.

The Japanese multinational conglomerate has been advancing into the esports industry by acquiring Evolution Championship Series (EVO) in March 2021 earlier this year. The registration of the patent marks yet another manoeuvre in the esports industry.

“Odds for various propositions concerning the play of a computer simulation are determined and presented to a viewer for pecuniary or non-pecuniary wagering purposes. The odds may be determined using past game analytics, or may be determined parimutuelly,” read an abstract from the registered patent.

The platform will likely host pecuniary as well as non-pecuniary bets. In simple terms, the platform will allow users to place bets with real money as well as virtual in-game items. Several games like DotA 2, CS:GO and TF2 have in-game items which are eligible across betting platforms.

The report further argued that filing a parent needn’t necessarily implicate that the company is bound to develop a betting platform. If they do so, the critics will, of course, disapprove of their actions.

Esports and betting haven’t gone along well. The esports betting industry, alongside the gambling industry, has been a cause of several controversies in the past. Many states have proposed various legislations to oversee loot boxes or crates.

Genshin Impact finally gets two-factor authorization

0

Hacking issues and security concerns were rampant amongst the Genshin community as many players reportedly lost their accounts on which they had spent real money, and as a result, two-factor authorization was one of the most requested features in the game.

On May 17, MiHiYo finally released an update that enables two-factor authorization across all user accounts. The new security measure is fairly simple as a verification code will be sent to the user’s email or phone via text when they log in, provided their accounts have already been linked in the past.

This ensures that the account’s owner is the one who has logged in and not an unauthorized person. Players who haven’t linked their accounts to their mobile phone number or email should do so immediately to increase their account’s security, as advised by MiHiYo.

Simply go to Genshin’s official website and then account management to link your mobile phone number and email to your account. Players can rest easy with this update as two-factor will greatly reduce any chances of their account being compromised.

This update was released just in time for Genshin’s Eula banner as players can grind for the 5-star Claymore user without any worries regarding their accounts.

Valorant Fan Creates Prime Operator

Valorant has been a very popular game since its launch and Riot have tried to make changes in the game on a very regular basis including the addition of skins.

Recently, one of the players designed a custom Prime skin set for the Operator that includes the collection’s iconic design and color schemes. The Prime collection is one of the most popular skins in the game which includes skins for the Classic, Guardian, Spectre, Vandal, and a unique ax melee skin.

The Prime 2.0 skin collection introduced the iconic designs to the Bucky, Frenzy, Odin, and Phantom. It also included a new unique melee weapon.

Both of the collections did not include an Operator skin so one of the fans made a custom skin that also included the color scheme of gold and black and posted it on Reddit which received 10.8k upvotes.

Many of the players liked the design and expressed how they wish it were available in the game. Riot Games has not considered fan-made weapon designs yet and it is quite unlikely that this exact Operator skin will make it into the game.

Although the popularity of this skin and the fans might eventually convince Riot to bring this Operator skin into the game.

5 Best Agents in Valorant

Riot has indeed stormed the community with its brand new first-person shooter, Valorant. Although the game has some unique mechanics similar to Overwatch, it leans more towards the theme than that of CSGO.

Valorant is an agent-based game where you can go on to select one from the pool of 15. Just like Overwatch or a random MOBA-element game, your agent would be equipped with abilities, among which would be an ultimate, recharged over a course of rounds played/ kills acquired or by securing ultimate orbs.

Agents in Valorant are divided according to their roles, the diversity of their abilities, and their overall impact upon the game. Hence they are placed in 4 different groups, as listed below:

  • Duelist: This kind of agents use their own abilities to frag across the map, better known as “self-sufficient fraggers”
  • Controller: They usually tear apart a part of the map’s territory eventually manipulating the odds in their team’s favor.
  • Sentinel: Sentinels can prove to be a great threat due to their abilities which can lock the opponent up in a specific avenue, eventually making them more vulnerable to untimely fights. They might also watch out for potential flanks for their team.
  • Initiator: Forcing an enemy out of their hideouts, they have the ability to contest a site
  • An ideal Valorant team would require a combination of 2 Duelists, 1 Controller, 1 Sentinel, and 1 Initiator.
  • Today we bring you the best five agents in Valorant with whom you can unleash the ultimate winning potential.

Phoenix: Duelist

Phoenix valorant

One of the original duelists in the game, Phoenix is known to have been blessed with all the traits any agent could have. From flashing his opponent with the curveball to building up a wall to slice up a site, he can stage a versatile fight to finish things up. His ultimate “Run It Back” can indeed be used to set up recon while entering a site as at the end of the timer, he spawns back on the spot from where he triggered it. Another ability of his i.e “Hot Hands”, a kind of an incendiary, can be used to clear an angle but can also heal Phoenix if low on health.

Jett: Duelist

jett valorant

Jett is basically known for her mobility which can help her to escape if she senses vulnerability on the move. People usually wield the operator while playing Jett as her “Dash” ability allows them to change positions after a quick peek at their opponents. Jett can also manipulate her enemy defense by repetitively deploying cloudburst smokes in an attempt to enter a specific site. Her updraft ability which pumps her up in the air can make her focus the “Blade Storm” ultimate with a terrorizing accuracy.

Sage: Sentinel

sage valorant

Proven as the best healer in-game, she can bring you back from the afterlife if her ultimate’s all charged up. Her slow orbs won’t let the enemies escape while her barriers would lock the opposition from rushing a specific site. Low on health? Not an issue. Sage will heal you up for a total of 60 Health points within 5 seconds.

Sova: Initiator

sova valorant

Sova can provide his team with some groundbreaking intel over his opponents. His Recon bolt can lure enemies out of their hiding places and so can his Owl drone which could fire a dart to reveal the opponent’s location. Once spotted, they might need to escape in order to dodge Sova’s Shock bolts, which can inflict heavy damage.

Brimstone: Controller

brimstone valorant

Having Brimstone on the team can easily help you get control of a specific site or an avenue, thanks to his Sky Smokes, an ability that lets the agent release smoke even from a distance. Upon entering, Brimstone can even aid by throwing an incendiary to tamper enemy movements. During fights, just a stim beacon will bolster your weapon’s fire rate, just like Reyna’s in her ultimate. His Ultimate, The “Orbital Strike” nearly scorches up a site once cast but might require a great sense of timing and precision.

Nadeshot gives up Twitch partnership to stream CDL matches

100 Thieves CEO Matthew Haag aka NaDeSHoT has decided to give up Twitch partnership to co-stream Call of Duty League matches on YouTube.

CDL’s exclusive deal with YouTube prevents any official streamer from broadcasting matches on a rival platform, one of which being Twitch. NaDeSHot desire to co-stream outweighs his Twitch membership which he gave up, leaving his name on Amazon’s streaming service without a tick next to it.

Despite not being partnered, NaDeSHot will be able to continue streaming on Twitch at the same time broadcasting CDL’s content on YouTube. In short, giving up a handful of privileges to stream official Call of Duty may not be such a bad thing especially for a former pro.

<iframe src=”https://clips.twitch.tv/embed?clip=SnappyKindDoveRalpherZ-GmkakbN_0GZVglQQ&parent=www.talkesport.com” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”true” scrolling=”no” height=”378″ width=”620″></iframe>

“I think it works out really well because I’ll hopefully be able to co-stream Call of Duty matches that LA Thieves have. I’m not really changing much, I’m not leaving Twitch, just being an Affiliate gives me a little bit of freedom on where I can stream and where I can’t.” said Haag.

With Stage 4 kicking off in the coming weeks, we might see NaDeSHoT co-broadcasting the games on YouTube in no time. Haag is no ordinary streamer of the game but a legend in the competitive scene, his performances for OpTic Gaming is remembered to this day. Given his stature in the COD esports scene, no one should doubt his unprecedented decision any further.

How to get free Maro character in Free Fire through Falconer Top Up event

Be it any game of some random genre like first-person shooters or Battle Royale, players would still tend to customize their weapons or the character with the aesthetic textures available in-game from the market.

Lately, bundles i.e. the cosmetic items have lured a majority of the Battle Royale players to Garena‘s Free fire which indeed provides its community with dozens of skins, player models via various events like the latest “The Falconer” top up event which would provide the user with the Maro character. The Falconer top up event currently has two variants up for grabs :

1. Maro Character
2. Maro’s Falconer Bundle

Players would need to get diamonds from the in-game store if they tend to purchase the brand new Maro character and its bundle.

How to get Maro in Free Fire

  • Launch Free Fire and select the “Diamond” icon situated at the top of your screen.
  • Various top-up options would appear and you may select the number of diamonds needed for the Maro Character /  Bundle.
  • Once you have loaded the Diamonds on your account, go back to the lobby screen and select the calendar icon located on the right-hand side of the screen.
  • Players can then click on the “Claim” button to get the Maro Character.

Maro Free Fire Ability:

Maro has a passive ability called the “Falcon Fervor”. When the ability is at level 1, it increases damage over distance up to 5%. The damage inflicted further increases by 1% if you mark the enemies.

Falcon Fervor, at level 6 which is deemed to be the highest, amplifies the damage over distance by 25%. Meanwhile, the enemies marked would get an increased damage, up to 3.5%.

This is why Riot removed Yoru from Valorant Agent Selection

Riot Games has currently disabled Yoru in Valorant to fix an issue. The developers delivered this message via in-game prompt and has not provided any information on the nature of the issue but we might have an idea on what may have caused it. Yoru was one of the newest additions and his teleport abilities were being used to exploit some unknown bugs in Valorant.

Yoru was the latest addition in the pool of agents in Valorant. This agent is equipped with an interesting kit which has teleports, invulnerability and flashbangs in the arsenal. Players experimented with Gatecrash, the teleport ability, and found some glitches where it can be game-breaking.

Some instances were not severe as others. One clip shows how Yoru can teleport in the Teleporter section of Bind without actually activating it. More clips were surfacing and one of the game-breaking bugs was recently discovered.

WHY IS YORU DISABLED IN VALORANT?

A player found out that Yoru can be used to teleport into the pyramids on Breeze. This can be used to gain a very unfair advantage and on top of that, Yoru users can plant the spike in pyramids itself. This bug makes it impossible to win a round if enemy Yoru decides to plant a spike inside pyramids on Breeze.

Riot Games might be investigating such bugs and finally decided to act on it by disabling the agent itself. One of the potential clue is that Breeze has also been taken down from competitive matchmaking and this disabled combo suggests that Riot Games could be fixing this issue.

The developers stated that Yoru is taken down to fix an issue and Breeze is disabled from competitive match to fix a bug. Players can still play Breeze in other modes like unrated or deathmatch. It is not explicitly stated that Riot Games have made these changes for this exact reason but it could be one of the reasons.

Battlegrounds Mobile India linked to PUBG Mobile

Krafton is currently in the process of launching Battlegrounds Mobile India in the country and since their flagship game, PUBG Mobile was banned in India, some speculations and reports suggested that a threat of ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India is looming on Krafton yet again. A report from IGN India draws parallels between the app package name of Battlegrounds Mobile India and PUBG Mobile and how it might affect the developers.

Battlegrounds Mobile India began its pre-registration process from today and an interesting reference to PUBG Mobile was found in the URL of the listing itself. The URL for the listing of Battlegrounds Mobile India is “https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pubg.imobile“. This link clearly contains the mention of “pubg.imobile” while Krafton is trying to advertise this game as a completely new entity.

Krafton faced some roadblocks after the announcement of PUBG Mobile India and they had to wait for few months before getting approvals and then, they came up with an entirely new title ‘Battlegrounds Mobile India’. This game is just a localized version of PUBG Mobile in India but Krafton reportedly refrained from linking it with their flagship title.

The company presumably approached influential content creators and requested them to stop mentioning PUBG Mobile in their content. The authenticity of this information was never verified as Krafton did not exclusively state it in any announcement. After all of these efforts to set a new identity for Battlegrounds Mobile India, the developers have still preferred to use PUBG Mobile in the hyperlink to the pre-registration page on Google Play Store.

IGN India cross-verified this information with some developers who stated that it is known as ‘App Package Name’ and is used to “uniquely identify” a specific app. Krafton has preferred to use this package name as it greatly affects the SEO on Google Play Store searches and ranks their game on the top.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is done to rank for specific keywords after a search query is made for it. Krafton is reportedly using the term “PUBG” to increase their search volume to rank for this keyword. This might be a big possibility as Battlegrounds Mobile India has been announced just a few days back and most of the population still knows it by PUBG Mobile India.

Overall, the reports just imply that Krafton is making abstract moves by mentioning PUBG Mobile in the pre-registration URL and yet abstaining to refer their new game by this old name. They might not be using the old name in fear of getting blocked once again but still preferred to take a bold step by mentioning PUBG Mobile in the URL.
