The Last of Us Part II gets a 60 FPS patch for PS5

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II (TLOU2) was way more ambitious than its predecessor The Last of Us – a game that sold over 17 million copies, in every single way, including graphically as the game’s photorealistic art design as well as motion-captured animations made it look like a live-action movie at points.

TLOU2 ended up bagging 300+ awards including the 2020 Game of The Year award. Unfortunately, the game was held back by the PlayStation 4’s aging hardware and would struggle to run in some areas, and as a result, it was limited to 30FPS, even on PS4 Pro. The fact that it still looks gorgeous on a 7- year old hardware is an impressive feat for Naughty Dog.

However, with the release of PlayStation 5, players expected to run the game at higher frame rates but the game was still locked to 30FPS until today as patch 1.08 that was released today now lets PS5 users run the game at 60FPS.

According to PlayStation’s blog post,

Once patch 1.08 for The Last of Us Part II is installed on your PS5, you will find a toggle in the Display options that allows you to choose between a Framerate Target of 30 FPS or 60 FPS. This allows you to choose your preferred framerate to complement the rest of the enhancements that are part of the PS5 backward compatibility with PS4 games, such as an enhanced resolution, faster load times, and more.

The game is also set to receive more PS5 enhancements in the future, as stated in the blog.

The NiP Anonymo rematch has turned into one of the biggest controversies in the history of Counter Strike Esports with the community largely believing the Swedish organization to be at fault.

The timeline of the drama paints NiP as the counter-part to the morally right sided for the most part, which explains the mixed feelings of the community heading into the rematch yesterday. Anonymo was given a choice, either for a complete BO3 rematch or just the final map i.e. Mirage. The outcome of the rematch was different enough for NiP to go further in the tournament but with unpleasant consequences.

NiP CEO Jonas Gundersen via Twitter informed about the influx of toxicity and death threats towards the players following the rematch and Anonymo’s loss in Flashpoint.

The claims of NiP and FACEIT pressurizing the Polish squad for a rematch played a big part in the upsurge of hate against NiP, but certain fans have taken it too far to push death threats against the players of the winning team, which is absurd to even think about. Several pundits have spoken against the decision to host a rematch, with some going as far as to call it a “fuc*ing disgrace”.

NiP had their way with the rematch though it wasn’t exactly a cakewalk. The match went all the way till the 30th round to decide a winner. NiP coming out on top doesn’t make it the end of the road for Anonymo as they will now face off against HYENAS on May 19, while NiP will play FPX in the Upper Bracket the following day.

Days Gone is finally out on PC and is the second first-party PlayStation game to be released on the platform. Like most open-world games, it features several elements that can help players on their journey depending on how they utilize them, one such ability in Days Gone is the freedom to pick up any weapon that you have acquired from enemies or while exploring, but there’s a catch.

These weapons aren’t really considered as Deacon’s even though there is a gun locker that you can use to retrieve your saved weapons, but it’s not as straightforward as you might think. The game forces you to keep the weapons you’ve picked up on you at all times and as a result, you might lose them permanently. This may seem overwhelming, especially for players who aren’t used to survival elements but here’s how you can use the gun locker in an efficient manner.

Gun lockers can be found in various Camp Safehouses, NERO Safehouses as well as Marauder Camp bunkers that you have cleared. Upon accessing them you’ll have 3 options to choose from – Primary, Side Arm, and Special, with various stats such as damage, accuracy, and magazine size. Guns also have different conditions ranging from Junk Condition to Special Forces Condition and you can carry only one weapon from each category.

To unlock weapons for your gun lockers, you’ll have to purchase them from vendors in survivor camps using Camp Credits. Each survivor camp will have its own selection of weapons and Camp Credits to spend, you’ll have to reach a certain Trust Level individually to be able to purchase high-tier weapons.

While this sounds annoying and tedious, these weapons will demolish anything standing in your way and you’ll eventually earn enough Trust points during story missions and side content. You will also unlock certain weapons while completing story missions and any gun that you unlock or purchase will be yours permanently and can be reacquired at any time, provided you’re inside a safehouse or bunker.

Days Gone has been one of the latest releases on steam. The game was first published on PlayStation consoles by Bend Studio with its Microsoft version, revealed on May 19, 2021.

Days Gone is an open-world survival game set in a post-apocalyptic Oregon, United States of America, and follows the story of Deacon St John, a drifter who discovers the possibility of his wife Sarah still being alive, eventually leading the former to find her. In order to achieve the latter, Deacon must run jobs for various camp owners to acquire upgrades for his weapons and motorcycles as well.

While out in the wild to complete objectives, you may come across a plethora of freaks (a term for the infected in the game), and trust me, your guns won’t be able to suffice for all of them. The game also does feature melee weapons which can be collected from across abandoned places, lying around. 

Do note: In order to sustain the durability of these Melee weapons, you might need to collect scrap by lockpicking cars and as mentioned, looting abandoned structures too. But first, in order to make your character find scrap, you would need to unlock the “Field Repair” skill as scrap materials will help you to repair your damaged weapons.

Ripper Blade

The Ripper Blade will be made available early in the game. You will be able to finish freakers and other bandits within just two swings. You will be able to later craft once you’re done with the “They Will Never Stop” Mission. Until then you will eventually find it lying around.

Items required to craft Ripper Blade:

  • Stool Leg
  • Sawblade
  • Scrap

Lawn Mower Machete

The Lawn Mover Machete can be as lethal as any other standard Melee weapon. A few hits and your enemy won’t bother you. Usually, you don’t need anything to craft it and can find the same while exploring around. You will first find after completing the “Chasing Leon” mission once you start clearing out the ambush camp.

Baseball Bat Axe

In order to get the Baseball Bat Axe, you would need to have a progress of 29% in the Ambush Camp Hunter Mission. Till then, you may either choose to craft it or find it in the wild but the latter might take you a while to do the same.

Items required for crafting the Baseball Bat Axe:

1. Baseball bat
2. Saw Blade
3. Some quantity of Scrap (TBD by the game)

Superior Mace

This is one of those superior Melee kinds in the game. Each swing would typically one-shot the enemy but at the cost of 3% durability per hit. Its durability and damage are both maxed out while the backswing of this weapon is comparatively slower, which might make you prone to take increased damage from a smaller horde of freaks.

Superior Metal Axe

The Superior Metal Axe is by far the best Melee weapon in the game and has maxed out damage and durability. It does last for a maximum of 50 attacks with the former losing just 2% durability in exchange for just a hit.

In addition, players can also unlock the abilities, “The Home Run” and “Hard Hitter”  further in the game in a bid to amplify the damage, inflicted by their Melee weapons.

As the storyline unfolds, not much longer, you will be introduced to Mark Copeland, the camp leader of the Copeland’s camp in the Cascades region, and Ada Tucker, the leader of the Hot Springs Encampment as well. These both characters do provide you with objectives further into the game.

In the mission “Price on your head”, Deacon would have two choices, whether to give the drug stash to Copeland or to Tucker. Giving it to either one of these characters won’t at all twist the main storyline but will only give you an early advantage to cheese out some aspects of the game. Let’s find out.

  • If you give the stash to Copeland: Handing over the drug stash to Copeland would enable Deacon to acquire some great upgrades for his bike, well enough to drift past through the freaks and other bandits. Though the fast travel option unlocks further in the game, having a fast and steady bike does give you an upper edge.
  • If you give the stash to Tucker: By doing this, the trust level of Tucker for Deacon would greatly increase, eventually unlocking a superior set of firearms. Eliminating a horde of freaks or the bandits from Ambush camps becomes much easier with the set of these firearms.

But at the end of the day, you may either decide to go for any one option from above.

For the Epic quests, there will be a total of seven missions introduced as part of the weekly challenges and players will be able to obtain 24,000 XP by completing each mission.

Fortnite Season 6 Week 10 Missions

  • Eliminate a player while swimming (1)
  • Deal damage to players within 30 seconds of landing from Battle Bus (150)
  • Pickaxe elimination (1)
  • Build sandcastles (3)
  • Deal damage to descending Supply Drops (100)
  • Destroy opponent structure while driving a modded vehicle (1)
  • Destroy sandcastles (3)

While most of the missions are relatively easy to complete, some can be a little tough for newer players.

For starters, players can land close to a beach to complete the sandcastle and swimming challenges.

Keep an eye out for Supply Drops spawning and shoot them mid-air to complete the mission involving the drops.

To complete the quest with the modded vehicle, players have to find an off-road tire in any garage and save it in their inventory. Once done, players will have to find a drivable vehicle and throw the tire at it to mod it.

The rest of the missions are fairly straightforward.

To complete the Legendary Quest, players will have to fly around for 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 seconds. The first checkpoint will reward them with 35,000 XP, while the rest give 24,500 XP each.

Twitch suspends Ad-Revenue on Hot Tub streamer Amouranth’s Channel

Popular Hot Tub streamer on Twitch,  Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa, who averages 10k viewers per stream was reportedly demonetized by Twitch. As per a Tweet by Amouranth herself, Twitch has removed the ability to run ads and earn ad revenue on her channel. 

For streamers on Twitch, ad revenue is a big portion of their monthly income alongside revenues from other sources like subscriptions, promotions, etc. Losing a big source of income and being locked out of the ability to monetize such a big crowd through ads might spell trouble for her and other “Hot Tub” streamers alike. 

Yesterday Amouranth tweeted out saying,  

Yesterday I was informed that Twitch has Indefinitely Suspended Advertising on my channel. Twitch didn’t reach out in any way whatsoever.  I had to initiate the conversation after noticing, without any prior warning, all the ads revenue had disappeared from my Channel Analytics

She said that this is an “ALARMING” precedent set by Twitch to target only specific channels and demonize them for content that “may not ostensibly break community guidelines or Terms of service.” Speaking further she said

This leaves open-ended the question of where the line is drawn. Many people complain about ToS being “unclear” but at least there’s something to go by.   There is no known policy for what results in a streamer being put on this blacklist. With characteristic opacity, The only thing twitch made clear is that it is unclear whether or when my account can be reinstated.

Previously Twitch staff member, djWHEAT has said that there’s nothing inherently wrong with hot tub streams and Twitch isn’t looking to shut them down anytime soon. For those looking to block hot tub streams clicking the “Not interested” button would suffice and they won’t be seeing any more hot tub streams on the home page. 

While Twitch had made their stance clear on such streams, demonetizing Amouranth’s channel suddenly without any communication or warnings suggests a sudden change of stand. The company may be willing to implement stricter action against such suggestive content and streams now after facing backlash from fans and media.
