Nodwin, Riot announce Valorant Conquerors Championship with 25,00,000 INR pool

The much awaited announcement has finally happened. The official Twitter handle of Valorant India & South Asia did hint at a potential announcement at 22:30 hours IST and Riot games have not disappointed their ardent fans. The premier game publisher, developer and tournament organiser have announced a pathway towards the Valorant Champions Tour in collaboration with NODWIN Gaming.

The flagship event will be called the Valorant Conquerors Championship that will boast a mega prizepool of 25 lacs INR along with a concrete pathway towards a slot at the Valorant Champions Tour LAN event. The entire circuit will consist of 6 separate qualifiers, one each for the following regions:

  • India
  • Pakistan & Afghanistan
  • Srilanka & Maldives
  • Bangladesh
  • Nepal & Bhutan
  • Wildcard

Each of the qualifiers will have certain slots dedicated to the region, with the qualifying teams playing out an online phase which will see a given number of teams grab spots at the APAC Last Chance Qualifier. The teams qualifying from the Valorant Conquerors Championship will battle alongside South-East Asia, Korea and Japan, with the winner of the APAC Last Chance Qualifier earning a spot at the next Valorant Champions Tour event, which is likely to take place in Berlin, Germany.

The South Asian region, especially the Indian one, has gotten recognition for the widespread number of tournaments that have been conducted, with the region growing into a self-sustaining one as far as the sheer number of viewers, frequency of events and number of tournament organisers is concerned.

Now, with a pathway to Valorant Champions Tour, the South Asian region will be able to grow further and take one step further into gaining the international recognition.

NODWIN Gaming is part of the mobile gaming conglomerate Nazara Technologies and has been the flagbearer for bringing international level events to the Indian and South Asian region. As far as Valorant is concerned, the Indian Tournament organizing powerhouse has found immense success with their Agni and Jazba series for the Indian and Pakistani region respectively.

The partnership between NODWIN Gaming and Riot games for the South Asian region has also been welcomed by Akshat Rathee, who highlighted this as a glorious opportunity for the region.

The entry into APAC Last Chance Qualifiers alongside South-East Asian, Korean and Japanese teams will also provide the region more exposure. The registrations for the Valorant Conquerors Championship will begin from the 15th of June, with no actual date reserved for the start of the tournament.

Nodwin Gaming, South Asia’s leading esports company has announced the launch of VALORANT Conquerors Championship a qualifying tournament for the south asian players. The teams would qualify for the APAC Last Chance Qualifiers as part of the 2021 VALORANT Champions Tour. According to the official press release, teams will compete in multiple sub-regional qualifiers from which the winning team will make their way to the APAC Last Chance Qualifier.

Riot Games, launched a new shooter game called VALORANT on June 2, 2020. The game’s unique concept with precise gunplay and various agent abilities helped it boost and become one of the most played FPS shooter game. Seeing the success of the game, Riot Games entered into the esports ecosystem with the announcement of “Valorant Champions Tour 2021”.

It is a year-long, global circuit featuring three levels of competition: Challengers, Masters, and Champions. Till date, the season-long competition tour featured teams from North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. With no slot for the South Asian region, the teams didn’t got the platform to showcase their skills at the global level. With South Asia serving as a rapidly growing hub of VALORANT esports, Riot Games and Nodwin Gaming together formed a path to the global esports circuit.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The registrations for the VALORANT Conquerors Championship will start from 15 June onwards. All teams will compete in multiple sub-regional qualifiers for a prize pool of INR 25 Lacs (33,000 USD) under the South Asian region. Here is the list of 6 sub-regions.

  1. India
  2. Pakistan & Afghanistan
  3. Sri Lanka & Maldives
  4. Bangladesh
  5. Nepal & Bhutan
  6. Wildcard

Each region will have a fixed number of slots which will be filled through online registrations. Online qualify matches will be played among all the teams which will further go through the playoffs round. The playoffs round will act as seeding to the grand finals. The winning team will make their way to the APAC Last Chance Qualifier where they will face qualified teams from Southeast Asia, Korea, and Japan. NICKMERCS deletes all Twitch VODs and Clips

In light of recent news of Twitch amassing nearly “1000 individual claims” for DMCA strikes, FaZe Clan streamer/content creator NICKMERCS has deleted all his VODs and Clips fearing a possible DMCA strikes.

DMCA strikes are a streamer’s worst nightmare and judging by recent cases, these strikes come at a random time for the oldest of old videos.

With the news to Twitch collecting over “1000 individual claims”, the panic-stricken streamers are acting out and NICK is the first major streamer to take such a drastic measure.

He believes that the whole DMCA situation is a mess and everyone should know better than to blame Twitch for it.

Twitch has actively stated to be working with music labels over licensing that will help with DMCA strikes in the future. Streamers often play copyrighted music and the record labels want to be fairly compensated, post compensation, authorizations are handed out for a streamer to commercially use it.

Despite preemptive action, NICKMERCS has held himself from blaming it all on Twitch. Deleting all VODs and Clips is one way to squeeze past any strikes at the cost of disappointing fans who often come back for it.

For someone like NICK, who plays songs while broadcasting to 50-60K viewers puts him in a prime position to get served with a DMCA strike.

PUBG Mobile and Free Fire might be banned in Bangladesh

The leading battle-royale titles in mobile gaming market are reportedly going to face a blockage in Bangladesh very soon as the government is considering to ban PUBG Mobile and Free Fire. According to a report, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Education in Bangladesh have recommended the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission to ban these games.

PUBG Mobile has been on the radar of many South Asian nations for the last few years. Several reports indicated that this game instills bad values and incites violence among youngsters. Some violent cases were also attached as a substantial proof and it has been banned in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh before.

Pakistan and Bangladesh chose to unban PUBG Mobile after a short while but the game is still blocked in India since last nine months. Bangladesh is apparently reconsidering their decision of restricting PUBG Mobile and Free Fire is added to the list as well.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Education has recommended this ban because of the addictive nature of these games. The IT Ministry is considering to ban these games in steps to avoid an “adverse reaction”. Stepwise approach will ensure that the games are stopped in “healthy and alternative way.”

The report cites several cases of crimes which were instigated due to these games. The nature of these crimes is heinous and hence, the government is planning to stop the misuse of these games and create public awareness. If the ban actually comes through, it will affect the budding mobile esports industry in Bangladesh.

Garena recently announced a dedicated server and support for Free Fire esports in Bangladesh and this situation might complicate things if the access to Free Fire is cut off in the future. The decision of ban has not been made yet but further actions may be seen very soon.

As mentioned above, the Special Weekend event of Pokemon GO is not similar to other kinds of events and would require a special code to gain access. The tickets to this special event are a part of a promotion that can be grabbed by three different procedures.

Getting your tickets to this event can be much easier if you have a Verizon customer, a Telecommunications company based in New York, United States. All you gotta do is head over to the promotions section on the Verizon Website and search for the Pokemon GO event. Upon finding it, simply claim your code to participate in this Special Weekend event.

The other two options may be useful if your country of residence is either Mexico or Japan.

7-Eleven Mexico and Yoshinoya are the two physical stores in Mexico and Japan respectively where you can grab the codes for the special weekend event from. The quantity of these special codes may vary from one store to another and on top of that, they will be region-locked.

Once you’ve got the code, you can redeem it on the Nianticlabs website.

Please note: If you’ve already redeemed a code, you can start the special weekend event from 11 am Local Time until 5 pm. Valorant fans were certainly bummed at not receiving a new agent in the last patch. Riot Games had claimed that they were emphasizing quality over speed, and assured fans that the new agent will be hitting the servers shortly.

Luckily, it seems like the Riot devs are sticking to their promise, as the next Valorant agent is all set to release at the start of Episode 3.

In a recent Valorant blog post, Character Producer Josh Goscicki confirmed that fans will be able to play the new agent from patch 3.0

While Riot didn’t go into details on what the next Valorant agent will be like, they did leave some hints that have gotten fans excited.

The devs have stated that the new agent will have abilities that’ll be familiar to players who have played a lot of “traditional FPS games.” 

“This time around we are throwing in some abilities that should feel familiar to folks who’ve played traditional FPS games their whole lives, but with added elements that will make those recognizable abilities unique within our roster,” Goscicki said. “This is an Agent who’s utility can create moments where you must rely on your gunplay.”

While the exact launch date of Valorant Episode 3 is still unclear, fans can expect to be able to play the new agent from around June 23, 2021.

xQc to delay his 60 days subathon till the end of the year

Felix Lengyel aka xQc has announced the delay of his 60 days subathon that was scheduled for the month of June until Q4 i.e later this year.

 Ludwig Ahgren’s subathon that lasted a month between 14th of March to 14th of April is a prime example of what it can yield. Ahgren managed to dethrone Ninja and come out as the most subbed Twitch streamer. xQc was supposed to follow suit in the upcoming month only to think better off it and hold back until later this year.

Lengyel believes that he has a good chance of beating Ahgren if he hosts the 60-days subathon at the end of the year. According to him, if the 60 days in Quarter 4 will be ideal to beat Ahgren by a long shot.  “We’ll beat the record, by a longshot.” he said.

xQc finds the end of the year to be a much more lucrative time to kick start the 60 days stream as he admitted earning the “big bucks” is easier at the end of the year. “I’ve thought about it, [and] I’m not doing it [next month],” he said. “My five-head thinking is doing it Q4. Ads are going to be so wild. The closer you are to Q4… they’re madness!” he added. “Two times, three times as big!”.

It is no secret that the delay would disappoint the fans but an xQc subathon promises to bring enough drama that the long wait would totally be worth it. If xQc believes that pushing it to the end of the year will be enough for him to come out on top then it is worth the wait.
