Krafton to make a new version of PUBG Mobile for Asian Games

0

Krafton Inc. is developing a new version of PUBG Mobile specifically designed for the esports edition of upcoming Asian Games 2022. PUBG Mobile was selected as one of the eight medal titles for this event and hence, the developers are tasked with creating a common game for every participating region.

PUBG Mobile is currently employed in various forms over the globe with several localized versions as well as some in different forms as well. The PUBG Mobile counterpart in China is termed as Game for Peace and it is known as BGMI in India.

These differences could make it difficult for the organizers to find a common platform to host the event and hence, the developers are tasked with creating a common version. According to a report by Dot Esports, Krafton is developing a new version of PUBG Mobile with the PUBG IP.

PUBG Mobile strategic marketing development at Krafton Minu Lee said, “I’m glad that PUBG Mobile is selected as the official medal event at the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, which will be an opportunity for people from all over Asia to come together as one. I hope that fans and players will be able to unite through a new version on PUBG Mobile, which we developed with PUBG IP specifically for the Asian Games.”

This statement suggests that Krafton is developing the Asian Games version of PUBG Mobile even though the global version is developed and maintained by Tencent Games. Clarification has not been posted by any parties yet.

Asian Games 2022 will host esports alongside the traditional events for the first time in history and the medals will be counted in the official tally. This is a huge milestone for gaming as a whole and to deliver the top-notch performance, Asian Games version of PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings will be employed at the main event.

A report also clarified that India will be able to participate in the Asian Games 2022 esports events and hence, fans can expect Indian representatives in PUBG Mobile and other titles.

Trainwreck hits back at “stealing” accusations

0

Tyler Niknam aka Trainwreck has been in getting some steam from the community over allegedly not paying for artworks which he said he would do if he actually used them.

Niknam has been under pressure from the community in general after he was getting caught up in several dramas, with the one surrounding the artworks being the latest of the lot. In a recent piece, he said “Don’t come at me about stealing from artists. I pay the artists I work with double what you and your parents make in a year,” which prompted an artist to call him out on social media.

An artist who goes by the handle @officialcwby on Twitter claimed that he was ghosted by Trainwreck after he submitted his work to him.

Niknam took to Twitter to defend himself, claiming that the artwork in question was a part of a competition and as he claimed beforehand, the one that collects the most number of votes would win and accordingly get compensated, “the best one will be voted on and paid well” he said before collecting artworks.

“First of all, I made a tweet saying I need new designs by Monday, and if I USE it I will pay you,” he said. “Second, my name is Trainwreck, not Trainwrecks. Third, I didn’t use your PG-inspired art.

This particular Tweet hasn’t come across any significant development after Trainwreck made it clear to everyone that he was well within his rights to deny the artist in question, any form of compensation.

Epic Pulls the Travis Scott Emote From Fortnite Store After Rapper’s Astroworld Concert Tragedy

0

Epic Games has secretly disabled the Travis Scott Emote from the Fortnite store just days after the rapper’s controversial Astroworld concert in Houston, Texas, where 8 people died due to negligence.

Epic has so far not revealed its intentions behind disabling the emote, but it is believed that the developer has decided to steer clear from associating itself with the rapper for the time being. Epic went so far as to disable the whole “Daily” section of the item shop and they even posted a tweet confirming that the section will be enabled soon with the next item shop refresh.

Some believe that the Travis Scott emote was included in the latest update and was supposed to be offered in the “Daily” section rotation in the future.

Previously, Epic worked with Scott for Fortnite’s first major in-game concert event in April 2020. The concert was attended by more than 12 million players and quickly became a digital sensation. Epic also released several cosmetics to celebrate the success of the show including two skins based on Scott’s Astro Jack persona, plus an “Out West” emote.

Scott’s Astroworld concert took place on November 5th in Houston’s NRG Park. Videos are floating around the internet which shows that the crowd surged on the first day of the show and overwhelmed the security present at the show. Some videos also show that during Scott’s performance the crowd was uncontrollable and a stampede-like situation happened, crushing some attendees. At least eight people have been killed, with many more injured, according to CNN. Victims ranged in age from 14 to 27, with one victim’s age currently unknown. At least 25 people were transported to the hospital. The total number of attendees reportedly neared 50,000.
