CSGO ZywOo Admits s1mple Was the Better Player This Year

Team Vitality’s star since their inception Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut shed light on the turbulent year his team had and was critical of his own performance as well. Talking to Esports Kingdom, the 21-year-old prodigy wasn’t shy of accepting that Aleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev was the better player, and anyone who watched the 2021 season would accept that.

Team Vitality had a good 2020, experimenting with a 6 man roster helped them the most and they won multiple trophies last year and were one of the more consistent teams in the Online era. Coming to 2021, they were a shadow of their former selves and won their first trophy in December with IEM Winter.

ZywOo was the MVP of the tournament, his first of the year while his counterpart has won 7 already and maybe on course for an 8th with BLAST World Finals coming up. ZywOo had a slightly disappointing start to 2021 and it was in the early days that he had his worst ever map in CSGO on Overpass. He bounced back in the second half and helped his team achieve multiple top 4 finishes and also a top 8 spot at the PGL Major.

‘Of course s1mple is better than me this year, but I had a bad year too. I’m going to do everything next year in 2022 to get better. I know this year was pretty hard with COVID, we have to play from home, it was really hard sometimes. For sure, s1mple was better than me this year, I have no problem saying it, but I want to play better in 2022 and that’s it.”

ZywOo Said

Finally winning an MVP and an S-tier trophy, Vitality are slowly coming back but with roster changes almost confirmed, it will be interesting to see how the team performs after signing ‘dupreeh’, ‘Magisk’ and ‘zonic’ as coach. ‘shox’ might leave for Liquid while ‘Kyojin’ is also going to be benched from the looks of things.

After winning the MVP in a post-match interview, ZywOo also claimed that it was due to COVID and playing from home that they couldn’t perform as well as they would have liked. With LANs slowly coming back, Vitality could hit their peak sooner rather than later and we could see an even closer rivalry between him and s1mple just like 2020 was neck and neck until the end of the year.

What is C9 in Overwatch?

0

If you’ve played any game in Overwatch over the last few years, then surely you’ll be familiar with the term “C9.” Several gamers around the globe use this term in Twitch or any other platform in order to express their sorrow with others.

You might also have seen that some gamers use this term in the chatbox to spam others at the end of a match or a tournament. But, not everyone knows the exact meaning of this term- C9.

What Is The History of C9?

The term C9 has a small history in the gaming industry of Overwatch. There was a team called C9, which stands for Cloud9. The team was initially very successful, but in the later part of their professional career, they messed up in one of the tournaments.

To be precise, the spotlight event was the match of Cloud9 against their rival AF Blue in 2017 in Overwatch Apex Season 2.

What Happened In the Match?

C9 consisted of famous players such as Surefour and Gods, who were sheer professionals in the Overwatch gaming world. On the other side, there were players such as Lijiang Tower and Volskaya Industries. The turning point in the match was when the players of C9 failed to complete the objective, and hence, lost against their opponents in a shameful three-time defeat.

Their defeat was quite notable during that year because Cloud9 was considered as one of the best Western teams in Overwatch.

Therefore, if anyone brutally loses a game now, players spam the inbox with the term C9 reminding others of the three-time defeat of Cloud9 in 2017.

What Does It Mean To C9 in Overwatch?

C9 is not actually any objective that the player must complete in a game nor does it indicate any losing round of a game. C9 describes more of a will or passion of a player to touch the final objective. It also can be defined as a form of miscommunication that leads to a player getting eliminated from a round.

This is everything you need to know about the term C9. If you want to read other articles on Overwatch, do check out our page.

Vitality with their IEM winter win were ZywOo was the MVP, boosted themselves up to #2 with 2089 points, and a runner up spot as EPL S14 helped as well in what has been a dismal year otherwise.

G2 esports continued their trend of making it to the finals and falling at the final hurdle, especially at IEM Cologne. They finished in the top 6 at IEM Fall RMR as well and were semi-finalists at IEM Winter to maintain their top 3 spots.

NiP after the addition of dev1ce won their first IEM event in the form of IEM Fall RMR. combined with a finals finish at IEM Winter, they stand at #4 in the ESL World Rankings.

The second-best team of the year in both CS:GO and Valorant – Gambit esports finish the year at #5. They won IEM Katowice 2021, IEM Summer 2021, made the finals of EPL S13 and won IEM Fall CIS rmr to gain 1022 points and remain in contention for the best team title with NaVi for 2022.

The final ESL event has wrapped up and except for decay, there won’t be any major changes to the ESL World Rankings any time soon. The next ESL event would be IEM Katowice 2022 which will start from February 15th to kick off the new season of Professional CS:GO.
