‘Esports needs to be officially recognised’ Rajya Sabha Member in Support of esports

Asian Games 2022 are almost upon us, and they will bring a new coming of age for the world of esports as well as traditional sports. Asian games 2022 will be featuring 8 video games, as a medal event. This is the first time that esports will be integrated on the same level of traditional  sports at the Asian Games.

Seeing how big of a player base India has, and how it can excel at esports, a member of the Upper House of the parliament – the Rajya Sabha spoke in support of esports.

Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, a member of Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra said “A special mention about developing a prudent ecosystem for esports, including legally permissible e-gaming. This has earlier also been mentioned in the house. Out of the 8 games that are medal events at the Asian Games, 2 are banned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology due to Data pilferage concerns (eg. PUBG Mobile)”

He added “What is required is to have a more holistic outlook towards esports and gaming and in that regard, there have to be some efforts from the Government, to ensure India’s flag is represented and players are selected for these tournaments in a fair and transparent manner. I request that wider consultations need to be held to develop a prudent esports ecosystem to further economic growth and job creation”

This will bring more attention to the world of esports, and its growing market in India and across the world. These topics being brought up in the parliament are a sign of life for esports and video games, and a nod to the bright future India has in the gaming world.

There will be a total of 8 esports that will be medal events at Asian Games 2022, these are:

  • Arena of Valor Asian Games Version
  • Dota 2
  • Dream Three Kingdoms 2
  • EA SPORTS FIFA branded soccer games
  • HearthStone
  • League of Legends
  • PUBG Mobile Asian Games Version
  • Street Fighter V

With the inclusion of various esports titles, fans all around the Asian region will be able to watch their favorite pro players compete live in the 2022 Asian Games.

Astralis and Team Liquid Join FaZe Clan, ENCE at ESL Pro League Quarters

The quarter finalists of ESL Pro League Season 15 have been confirmed with North American side Team Liquid joining the likes of FaZe and Astralis to make it to the next stage.

Earlier, Astralis had to battle it out with Entropiq, in a series which went the distance with 2 maps going the full 30 rounds as well as an Overtime affair in between. Liquid made short work of Heroic, which came as a surprise for everyone as Heroic looked almost unbeatable in the group stage, and were humbled by NA’s last hope in 2 maps.

Team Liquid is the only remaining team from North America at ESL Pro League Season 15. Evil Geniuses, Party Astronauts and Complexity, all went out in the group stages, with only Col managing a single win throughout as the others went 0-5. Liquid were tipped as the underdogs and not without reason as they only beat BIG, GODSENT and Party Astronauts to make it to the playoffs.

But they showed that they meant business, and took down the #5 team in the world over two maps, 16-9 and 16-10. EliGE, NAF and AWPer oSee were all on point for the team, and were supported well by former Valorant pro and IGL nitr0 who had his best performance (against an EU side)  after returning to CSGO as he went 25-13 with a 1.63 rating on Vertigo to close the game.

Astralis on the other hand were made to sweat versus Russian side Entropiq. Having lost to them earlier in the year at  FunSpark Ulti, Astralis came into the matchup with revenge on their minds.

They clinched  the first map of Nuke with a stellar CT side where they posted 10 rounds to win 16-14. On Vertigo, things got down to the wire as well, despite NickelBack and co. leading 15-10 at one point. Astralis mounted a comeback but fell just short after forcing overtime as Entropiq had a flawless OT to win 19-15.

Overpass was much like Nuke, this time with 10 CT rounds for Astralis to start. On the T side, blameF continued his tear to help the Danes push it over the line and get to the coveted 16 rounds in the final round of play. He topped the scoreboard with 81 kills, going +22 in K/D and a 1.30 rating to boot.

PUBG Mobile Esports announces changes for 2022 PMPL and Spring Split Schedule

PUBG Mobile Esports recently announced the changes in the schedule of the PMPL and Spring Split 2022. According to the announcement, the PMPL will now follow a one-year cycle instead of seasonal relegation and features a total prize pool of $5.3 million for 2022.

Earlier, PUBG Mobile Club Open acted as the qualifying event for the PMPL event. Although, the organizers introduced PMPL qualifiers as a part to get the seeding in the PMPL event. There have been changes in the region classification with EMEA and MENA & SA regions now being classed as Europe, South Asia, and Middle East & Africa.

CSGO Hits Over 1 Million Peak Players for the First Time Since May 2021

2022 is turning out to be a great year for CSGO fans as the shooter registers the highest number of players in eleven months, only months after the title saw its highest player growth in almost two years.

According to data from Steam Charts, CSGO has registered over 1,000,000 peak players in the month of April 2022. The last time the title witnessed over a million peak players was back in May 2021, when the competitive shooter saw a whopping 1,087,197 players tuning into the game simultaneously.

Currently, CSGO stands proud at the top of the Steam Charts in terms of player base, and boasts an average player count of about 600,000 while its peak player count lies towards north of the 1 million mark.

However, the average player gains of the title seems to have taken a slight hit when compared to the past few months.

The news comes only weeks ahead of the upcoming PGL Major Antwerp 2022. The upcoming Major that’ll take place in Antwerp, Belgium is almost certain to draw in more players from throughout the world, and boost the title’s player count even further.

The PGL Antwerp Major 2022 kicks off on 9th May and will continue until 22nd May. CSGO fans will be keeping their fingers crossed for the growth of CSGO to continue over the next several months.

What is WiniOS Zero BGMI?

The BGMI community recently was recently exposed to a whole new realm of cheating and hacking that fraudsters use to gain advantage in the game.

Due to the case of Saggy hacking on-stream, it was revealed that some hacks exist that players can use to cheat in the game while streaming or recording a normal screen. The name of the hack used was WiniOS Zero BGMI and here is more information about it.

BGMI developers are always using innovative techniques to put an end to hacking in their game and while some of these techniques may have been helpful in eradicating a large number of hackers, there are still some users that purchase such illegitimate services to cheat in BGMI.

One of such service provider goes by the name of WiniOS Zero. It is a marketplace for applications where players can purchase modified applications and cracked versions with a subscription-based payment module.

This service came into limelight after Saggy, a professional BGMI player from Enigma Gaming, was caught using the application. In a clip from his stream, it can be seen that he was using an application called “WiniOS Zero” to hack in BGMI.

WiniOS is popular for its PUBG Mobile and BGMI hacks and users can purchase a subscription plan at 30$ per year and get other cracked applications along with the BGMI hack. The application has following features according to a website called ConsideringApple:

One of these features called “Esp Hide Recorder” is presumably the function used by Saggy to hide his illegitimate actions.

Unreal Engine 5 announced, Comes with Lyra Sample Game

On Tuesday, Epic Games officially launched Unreal Engine 5, a cutting-edge game engine that’s designed to deliver photorealistic graphics and usher a new era of game graphics.

Following several months of preview releases and demos, Epic Games has officially launched the full-fledged production-ready build of the Unreal Engine 5 today to game developers.

The UE5 features two of the most demanded features of this generation of graphics, i.e. “Lumen,” a way to add realistic lighting effects (not to be confused with Raytracing), and “Nanite,” a tool to incorporate high-quality textures into in-game environments.

Epic promises that working on UE5 will be easier and pave way for faster game development of graphically intense games.

The inclusion of tools for 3D animation and modeling directly into the editing interface helps game developers to access all the new features of UE5 within the editor.

With the announcement of UE5, industry-leading developers also announced their upcoming games built on UE5.

Notably, CD Projekt Red announced the next “Witcher” title and Crystal Dynamics announced the next “Tomb Raider” game, both of which will be built ground up on UE5.

Alongside the launch, Epic Games also revealed: “Lyra”, a “starter game” that demonstrates the new features in Unreal Engine 5.

Lyra was first shown off at Epic Games’ State of Unreal conference back in 2020. Lyra is basically a learning resource designed as a sample game project for developers to understand the frameworks of Unreal Engine 5(UE5).

It’s a multiplayer shooter video game that developers can use as a foundation to build upon, rather than building a completely new project from scratch.

Lyra uses Epic Games multiplayer services meaning it will be cross-platform play compatible meaning you can play across all platforms: PC, consoles, and even mobile devices.

The gameplay loop of Lyra is simple red team vs blue team gameplay with a common goal to reach a certain level of points to win the match. While the gameplay of Lyra seems simple, the game leverages many built-in engine features of the UE5.

E3 2022 Cancelled For Third Year In A Row

The annual trade and met-up of the video game industry, the Electronic Entertainment Expo commonly referred to as E3 has been called-off by the organizers. The E3 2022 was supposed to be an online-only event, but due to rise in Omicron variant cases in the USA has forced the organizers to cancel the event.

According to a statement from its organizers, The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the annual event will be returning as a hybrid format featuring both Offline and Online experiences “next summer” (i.e. 2023).

After the cancellation of 2020, this is the second time the event has been called off due to ”ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees.”

The organization in a statement said:

“We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience.” 

Starting with the CES 2022 in Las Vegas, where we saw many major technology companies pulling out of the in-person event and instead opting to host virtual shows to announce new products. 

It is unclear just what kind of future E3 holds after all is said and done. With the 2nd time cancellation of the whole E3 event, the ESA is again going to miss a major chunk of its revenue this year.

Since last month, the latest Omicron variant of Covid19 has been spreading worldwide rapidly causing disruption in services and business at large.

While the latest spread isn’t as deadly as before, the virus is spreading very quickly and the USA is reporting 10K avg cases daily. 

The latest spread of Omicron cases has forced all events to reschedule or move to an online-only format.

How to Register for Rainbow Six Mobile Beta

Rainbow Six Siege is officially heading to the mobile platforms with yesterday’s announcement detailing the Beta access and how Ubisoft plans to roll out the game. 

The mobile version of the game will be called Rainbow Six Mobile. It will include 10 operators and 2 maps at launch. As per Ubisoft, the mobile version of the game will feature almost all of the major aspects of the PC version.

Some features might be tweaked a little bit to work better on mobile devices, but Ubisoft says that they are aiming to bring the same PC experience to the Mobile version of the game. 

In the reveal trailer, the destructible maps and objects, gunplay, secondary gadgets, and iconic abilities of each character looked almost similar to the PC version of the game, whilst some tweaks were noticeable on the map area and layout. 

Aside from tweaks to the maps, the character skins are also slightly different. Although Ubisoft didn’t say anything about the character skins, it is possible that the mobile version of the game will feature completely different character skins and models. 

No release date of the game was confirmed at the time, but Ubisoft has opened registration for the early access Beta version of the game launching soon.
