Team Liquid’s Nivera Tests Positive for COVID-19 at VALORANT Champions in Germany

Team Liquid’s Nabil “Nivera” Benrlitom reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in Germany, right before the biggest tournament of the year – VALORANT Champions. The tournament boasts a prize pool of $1 million and will be played offline in Germany and features the best VALORANT Teams in the world such as Gambit, Sentinels and Team ENVY.

The Belgian had contracted the virus almost a month ago according to reports, and has recovered from it. But the PCR tests conducted by Riot games showed that he tested positive. This isn’t uncommon as there have been reports of people testing positive 3 or 4 times more even after recovering from the disease.

It is likely though that Nivera will feature in the tournament, albeit not at the main stage. According to Germany’s health protocols, he may have to quarantine himself as well and might have to play the games from there only.

Playing with his brother ‘ScreaM’, Nivera has gelled in well with the squad and played a vital role in their VCT EMEA Last Chance Qualifier tournament win. They beat Guild esports in the Grand Final to qualify for VALORANT Champions ahead of G2 esports, and Futbolist. ‘ScreaM’ was the MVP for the tournament.

Team Liquid start their campaign versus KRU esports on 1 December, in Germany.
