Shroud breaks down how the Sentinels signing happened: ‘They all thought I was trolling’

No one ever believed Shroud’s return to the competitive scene.

On July 8, Sentinels announced the signing of Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek to their active Valorant division which indeed had the community on their very feet. With Hunter “SicK” Mims pulling out of the North American Last Chance Qualifier, Sentinels were left looking for their new 5th which poised them in asking the 28-year-old Canadian to fill the spot.

Shroud on his stream spoke upon how the announcement had everyone think it was a troll and not at all serious. The ex-Cloud9 Counter Strike player had just finished up dinner when he got a call from Sentinels to bucket him as their 5th for the Last Chance Qualifier. Initially, Sentinels too thought whether Shroud had been trolling but it was later determined that the Twitch sensation had locked himself into the deal.

“They (Sentinels) all thought I was trolling, but I was not trolling.” said Shroud on his stream.

This move marks Shroud’s return to the competitive scene after over five years of inactivity since having last featured in Cloud9’s CS:GO squad although the Americas Minor of the IEM: Katowice 2019 Major was the last time we saw him don the Old Guys Club tag.

Till now it’s unclear whether Shroud would stick around with Sentinels for the long-term or will it be just for until SicK returns to the active roster.

Following the announcement, XSET who thought it’d be a troll, fake tweeted about Jake “Stewie2K” Yip joining their Valorant roster although the tweet was later taken down by the organization.
