Microsoft Retracts Free Xbox Game Pass Privileges for Employees

Microsoft, one of the biggest tech companies in the world has retracted free Xbox Game Pass privileges from all employees except for those who are actively working on the Xbox.

As a part of their compensation packages, Microsoft offered free Xbox Game pass to their employees which according to recent news will be limited to Xbox employees moving forward and for the rest of the employees, the annual game pass will be available in the internal company store which for obvious reasons has generated resentment among employees.

The game pass recently went through a price hike and employees lost free pass privileges before increased prices are supposed to go live.

The feeling of discontentment has been very apparent among the employees and everyone has been criticising Microsoft on social media. Users have called out Microsoft for ripping off their employees and using shady methods to save money. According to reports, over 230,000 employees will lose the free pass privileges moving forward.

The prices have been increased from $14.99 to $16.99 starting January 2024 and employees with the annual subscription will have to pay the entire sum if they are to renew starting January 2024. We cannot say for sure what Microsft’s goal was with this but all the subscriptions combined will only add up to peanuts next to the amount of money they make in a calendar year.
