Fortnite Players Demand Epic Reveal Pirate Shop Token Odds as #ReleaseTheOdds Grows

Jynxzi and Stable Ronaldo have spent 145 hours hunting the Fortnite Pirate Shop Token. Players now want Epic to publish the odds.

Fortnite players want Epic Games to say how rare the Pirate Shop Token really is. A week into the Treasure Hunters mini-season, streamers Jynxzi and Stable Ronaldo say they have each spent more than 70 hours hunting for it without luck, and Jynxzi has started a #ReleaseTheOdds push on X, tagging the official Fortnite account.

Epic has not published any odds. Its only public comment so far is that every player has the same chance.

Jynxzi and Stable Ronaldo have spent 145 hours between them

Pirate Shop Access arrived with Treasure Hunters on November 1. Finding it gives you two activations, each opening a 14-day window to claim eligible Item Shop cosmetics without spending V-Bucks. That is a huge prize in a game built around its shop, and it has turned chest-opening into a full-time job for some players.

Jynxzi reportedly passed 75 hours of searching before posting his #ReleaseTheOdds message on November 7. Stable Ronaldo says he is past 70 hours. Neither has found the token, and both have called on Epic to publish the drop rate.

Epic says the odds are equal, but will not say what they are

On November 3, the Fortnite Status account replied to a player asking about the token. “This is just like any of the chests in Battle Royale, so every player has an equal opportunity to find Pirate Shop Access,” it wrote. The same reply warned that “buying an account or using fake tools is a scam.”

That answers one question, whether some players have better luck than others, but not the one people are actually asking. Epic has not said whether the chance is 1 in 100, 1 in 10,000 or something far lower. Community estimates are all over the place, and the “1 in 700,000” figure doing the rounds has never been confirmed. Our Pirate Shop Token guide covers how to find it and how to activate it once you do.

Leakers claim the odds are hidden on purpose

Part of the frustration comes from dataminers. Usually, drop rates can be found in a game’s files after an update. This time, they cannot.

Leaker Egyptian_Leaker claimed on November 6 that Epic built a new system, reportedly called “Clover”, that lets it adjust the token’s odds without the numbers appearing in the game files. “Fortnite made a whole new dev system just to hide the Pirate Shop Token odds,” he wrote. Another leaker, Llamalaxy, claimed the roll happens on Epic’s servers when a chest is opened, which would explain why there is no fixed percentage to find. Epic has not confirmed either claim.

Why the odds matter

The token is not sold, and players do not pay per attempt, so this is not a paid loot box. Even so, players are spending real time chasing it, and some have turned to paid carries and AFK tools. Without published odds, there is no way to know whether the chance is fixed for the whole season, the same for every chest type, or changed during boosted Treasure Hours.

QuestionWhat Epic has said
Are the odds equal for every player?Yes, according to Fortnite Status
What are the actual odds? Not disclosed
Can the odds change during the event? Not disclosed
Do Treasure Hours boost the token? Not disclosed

Treasure Hunters ends on December 5

There are four weeks left to find the token. If Epic does publish the odds, it will settle the debate one way or the other. Until then, the advice is the same: play in a squad, since a token found by one player is shared with everyone, and ignore anyone selling “guaranteed” Pirate Shop access.
