Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 1 to feature a $5 million prize pool

Epic games recently pulled off one of the greatest marketing stunts of the gaming world by completely taking down its game for 24 hours as well as blacking out its twitter account. Players were caught up in a frenzy as no one knew what actually happened when the entire map was sucked into a blackhole and players actually feared that the game is over. Epic Games introduced Season 2 of Fortnite in style and to make things sweeter, a $5 million prize pool has been announced for Chapter 2, S1 of the Fortnite Champion Series. They will be giving away the $5,000,000 in total prizes across all regions and competitions, including weekly Cash Cups and new platform specific tournaments.

Qualifiers will begin November 1st and will last for four weeks. The season final will take place between December 6-8th. The previous Champion Series required the players to compete in trios whereas this time it will be a full on four man squad battle. Trades between qualified teams will be strictly prohibited.

Players were relieved as the competition does not clash with Dreamhack Winter’s major Fortnite tournament taking place between November 29th and December 1st, enabling the players to compete in both tournaments instead of choosing one.
