Skyesports CEGC 2025 CS2 Event: All You Need To Know

India will see its first-ever state government-backed esports event in the form of the Chennai Esports Global Championship (CEGC), marking a significant step toward mainstream recognition of competitive gaming in the country. The event will serve as the flagship esports initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu, organized by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) in partnership with Skyesports.

CEGC 2025 is set to feature two of the biggest titles in PC and mobile esports, Counter-Strike 2 and BGMI, and will bring together elite teams from India, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

“CEGC represents more than competition; it is a long-term platform for community, culture, and creativity, aligning esports with Tamil Nadu’s broader vision for innovation, job creation, and youth empowerment,” Skyesports said in a statement. “By blending government vision with private expertise, CEGC is redefining how India approaches the future of sports, technology, and entertainment.”

CEGC 2025 CS2 Event: Details & Format

The CEGC 2025 CS2 tournament will be a Tier-2 VRS event featuring eight teams from across Europe, India, and Southeast Asia that have secured their slots through intense competition in the open qualifiers. No direct invites have been issued based on the teams’ VRS rankings.

The main event, set to kick off on November 7th, will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai and feature three days of hardcore competition before culminating in the grand finals on November 9th.
