NAVI’s AWPer Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov has been muted in CS2 for unknown reasons as the community delves into all the possibilities that could have led to this, including claims of G2 Esports mass reporting him.
According to w0nderful, his account was muted roughly an hour after his team wrapped up a practice match against G2. He explained the situation, claiming, “Do you want me to leak which prac gave me the mute? It was after the prac against G2. You can think what you want after that. I think G2 reported me. I don’t know how it works, but I played a prac against G2, chilled for an hour, came back, went on FACEIT, and realized I was muted.”
Namedropping G2 in a direct accusation like this made his claims go viral within the community, leading to heated discussions on X and Reddit exploring possibilities of what or how this might have happened.
How CS2 Mutes Actually Work
A mute is nothing but a blockage of communication that prevents a player from using voice comms or text in matchmaking chat. Bans like his are automatically triggered after there have been enough reports with no manual intervention. Based on his accusations, G2 Esports have allegedly reported him enough times to trigger this from the system’s end, leading to his getting muted on public servers.
For w0nderful, one can argue that bans like this can be internally handled by the developer due to his being a notable figure in the community and will be nothing more than a minor inconvenience. Also, top-level matches use TeamSpeak for communication; this would hardly be a roadblock for him in pugs and practice.
G2 are yet to respond to w0nderful’s claims, but given how G2 usually operate, one can argue they would have nothing more than a funny response to it.
