MOUZ is the champion of the Intel Extreme Masters Beijing 2026, beating MongolZ with a 3-0 scoreline to secure their first IEM trophy in the organisation’s history. Dominant across the three maps, the Europeans made quick work of the Asian powerhouse to secure a confidence-boosting trophy ahead of the Singapore Major.
As it happened
Opening the Grand Finals on MOUZ’s pick, MongolZ’s pistol-round win gave them some footing. As MOUZ managed to get going on the offence, the Asian side struggled heavily, allowing MOUZ to close the first half with an 8-4 lead. MOUZ extended the lead further with a 5-0 start on their defence as MongolZ managed a single round before closing the map with a 13-5 scoreline.
With the opening map going their way, MOUZ kicked off MongolZ’s pick with a 4-0 start. As MongolZ played chase, they put together five rounds to level the scoreline, making the map competitive. With MOUZ struggling poorly on their defence, their A-game started unfolding once they moved to T side. Winning 7 rounds in a row, MOUZ dismantled the MongolZ defence piece by piece to close the map without dropping a single round. With a 7-0 streak to close the map, MOUZ reached series point with a 13-6 win.
The final map of the series saw both teams trade rounds until MOUZ managed to secure consecutive rounds to go on a streak of 8 rounds before MongolZ narrowly managed the final two to swap sides with a 9-3 lead. Covering the pistol enabled MongolZ to hit the board, as the opening of the second half saw both teams cover their respective force buy. MOUZ found their footing quickly and pulled in 3 rounds in a row to close the map effortlessly with a 13-4 scoreline.
MOUZ, having struggled with closing out Grand Finals, endured a series of 2nd-place finishes until IEM Beijing. A confident 3-0 win in the Grand Finals will provide them with much-needed confidence to take on the likes of Spirit and Vitality in December. While many may take this trophy for granted, MOUZ, under a new IGL, looks sharp, and this might just be what they needed to get into the next gear.
