With the VRS points frozen for May, Valve has revealed the match-ups for the opening day of BLAST.tv Austin Major. While most of the top teams will find themselves in Stage 2, Stage 1 houses some of the dark horses who can take down the top dogs on their day, giving us a few matches to get excited about.
Following the VRS update, the likes of Heroic, OG, Imperial, FlyQuest, and other mid-table teams have booked their spot in Austin. Despite them being far from favorites, previous Majors are testament to the fact that underestimating lesser-known teams can be a fatal mistake. With every team boasting its storyline heading into the Major, fans are bound to be treated to some thrilling matches to open up the event.

Two names with results under their belt find themselves in the opening stage, namely Heroic and Complexity. Heroic takes on Chinggis Warrior while CoL faces OG. These two matches arguably stand out, while notable teams like Imperial, FlyQuest, and Fluxo also aim to make it difficult for each other to advance to the next stage.
Despite being mid-table teams, they make up the perfect appetizers to kick off the Major in Austin while the big names await them in Stage 2.
