What are Skeleton Keys in Warzone 2 DMZ?

Is CS Responsible for the Decline in In-Game Loot Boxes?

0

Online gaming is a massive industry and there is a lot of money to be made for gaming companies that produce popular games. Many of the leading online video games include a loot box system and this has come under scrutiny.

Recently, we have seen a decline in the number of in-game loot boxes but is this the responsibility of Counter Strike or are there other factors in play?

What is a Loot Box?

Loot boxes have long been a controversial feature of online video games. Unlike when playing games at a casino online, where you use real money to gamble, loot boxes are usually obtained with virtual currency specific to the game.

However, virtual currency can often be purchased for real money, meaning it is easy to begin opening boxes or packs. If we take the popular FIFA football game as an example, packs can be won by playing matches, but they can also be purchased using coins. The coins are obtained by playing matches but can also be purchased. The packs contain players, kits, stadiums, contracts, and other items that improve the gaming experience.

The Issue with Loot Boxes

The major issue with loot boxes in video games comes from a gambling perspective. Taking Counter Strike: Global Offensive as an example, there are two ways to obtain loot boxes in the game. The first is by playing the game and each week you play the game; you will be awarded two crates to open.

The crates contain various weapon skins, including knives, pistols, and rifles. The second way to obtain crates when playing CS:GO is by purchasing them from the game market. You cannot see what is in the crate before opening and the items within the CS:GO world all have different values.

Some people have spent a fortune opening crates and received a disappointing return. Many people believe opening loot boxes to be a form of gambling and it should be banned from video games in the future.

The Value of Skins in CS:GO

Recently, Valve announced the release of Counter Strike 2, which is going to be a revamp of the original game boasting a series of improvements. It is expected to come as a free update in the summer of 2023 and that means all progress will be carried over to the updated version of the game.

The news of the carry-over has sent the CS skins market into a frenzy and thanks to the virtual economy created by the loot box system in CS, prices of skins have been rocketing. For example, a knife that was valued at €170 when revealed in a loot box increased to close to a €1000 in value. Issues begin to rise with the thought of what would happen if CS 2 shut down. All the items would suddenly become worthless, and that prospect is leading to a decline in in-game loot boxes.

Thanks to the virtual market in games such as CS, regulators are looking extremely closely at loot boxes and video game developers are bracing themselves for a possible ban in the future.

Virtex partners with Skybox Technologies to welcome Counter Strike as the first major esports title to join Virtex Stadium

0

2th April, London: Software developer Virtex is excited to announce its partnership with spectating and analysis platform Skybox that will see the hugely popular competitive gaming title CS:GO and its successor CS2 introduced to its Virtex Stadium platform, the world’s first virtual esports stadium, for the very first time.

Skybox is a spectating and analysis solution for competitive titles and will provide the real-time data and 3D game recreations to Virtex Stadium that will allow Counter-Strike gameplay to be viewed by spectators from every angle. They have been working alongside Virtex for the past year on the integration of Counter-Strike maps into the stadium and ensuring key modes and tools such as gameplay features and map control function smoothly, enabling a world first immersive 3D viewing experience.

Currently available on closed beta, via desktop and on compatible VR headsets, fans that enter the Virtex Stadium lobby will be immediately immersed in its 3D viewing experience. In the very near future they will be able to broadcast Counter-Strike matches to the Virtex Stadium and experience every play in all its glory. The power is firmly in each gamer’s hands and they can choose to spectate each round from a seat in the stadium or take full control by diving into the map and getting up close for every opening duel, site retake, and nail-biting clutch.

This 3D experience of being able to view gameplay from the centre of the stadium is a world first and it forms the foundation of Virtex’s ambition to become home to the most memorable and unique events in gaming. Experiencing those breathtaking moments at the same time unifies the fan collective and this is guaranteed by everyone in the stadium receiving the same synced live stream.

Once ready, fans are free to enter the lobby and move into the lounge bar and main hall, relaxed hangout spaces perfect for meeting with friends and other fans, and together they can discover some of the games and fun interactions are hidden here. By removing local limitations, Virtex Stadium allows fans to watch their favorite live events alongside friends and family, wherever they are in the world.

We are thrilled to be introducing a massive title like Counter Strike to the Virtex Stadium and giving more fans the opportunity to enjoy top-level gameplay in a way that’s never been done before. As the third most-watched esport last year, CS:GO already has an enormous following and we’re excited to be working with Skybox to deliver a 360° spectating experience unique to every fan. As a die-hard esports fan I can’t wait to announce more of the upcoming tournaments we are set to feature in the stadium.” said Virtex co-founder Tim Mcguinness.

Virtex Stadium was birthed by co-founders Tim Mcguinness and Christoph Ortlepp after meeting at a VR League Finals event in 2019 where they realized they shared a vision for redefining the esports fan experience. Former Team Gravity Echo VR player, Tim Mcguinness was casting at the time and after sharing a very early prototype of Virtex Stadium immediately convinced tech entrepreneur Christoph Ortlepp of its potential. This eventually led to Virtex being founded in 2020.

“I met the Virtex team in 2021 and from the first discussion, it was clear we shared the same passion and drive to enhance the gamer experience through digital innovation. Virtex were firmly focused on recreating the live stadium experience in a virtual reality environment and we believed this to be a great touch point for our real-time technology and game recreations.”

“The Virtex guys have done an outstanding job at building out the Virtex Stadium over the past year. We are proud that via the Skybox & Virtex partnership fans can soon experience live Counter-Strike in a whole new way. It’s an exciting time for our respective companies and we are looking forward to continuing our partnership with additional game titles and new experiences” said Ethan Cooper, CEO of Skybox Technologies.

Counter-Strike becomes the second esports title to feature on the platform, following Echo VR’s integration to the Virtex Stadium last year, and demonstrates Virtex’s intention to bring more high quality entertainment to Virtex Stadium and deliver an experience that will leave fans breathless. This partnership with Skybox is just the beginning and more announcements for additional Counter-Strike tournaments and esports titles joining Virtex Stadium will follow in the coming months.

How Artificial Intelligence is Revolutionizing Sports Betting

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the sports betting industry. It is being used to analyze data faster than before, resulting in more accurate predictions of outcomes and better betting decision-making. AI presents many opportunities for sports betting platforms by helping these platforms adjust to the needs of their customers. And as AI applications in sports betting become more accepted, and the technology gets more advanced, it’s only expected that artificial intelligence will permeate every aspect of delivering sports betting services.

How AI is Changing the Sports Betting Landscape

In sports betting, AI-powered algorithms are being used to analyze data related to sports teams and to predict betting outcomes with greater accuracy. AI is also being used to identify patterns in past results and deriving valuable information from these patterns to help bettors make more informed decisions about their bets. But if you are hoping to get into sports betting without a registration process, AI will probably not be able to assist you, because that aspect of the signing up process is considered private. This means that even though, AI can be used to automate certain processes such as placing bets and tracking winnings, things like registration and filling out personal information are strictly left for the user.

Collecting Data is Cool!

One of the most obvious perks of AI in the sports betting industry is its smart data collection capabilities. Operators use AI analyzed user data and behavior to provide users with experiences that are tailored to them. This same user data can also be leveraged for many other advantages. This includes customized services and offers, and personalized marketing that targets the consumers directly. It is known that highly-secure and reliable AI-driven solutions ensure that the user data is authentic and correct.

Analysis of Predictions

AI in sports betting offers Predictive Analysis, which leverages AI algorithms to track and review historical data, trends, and patterns. This data can be used to identify the strengths and weaknesses of teams and players which will help companies determine the type of plays a team could make in a match. This knowledge can be utilized to design bets that suit the situation.

Prevention of Illegal Activities

Online platforms on the internet are unfortunately vulnerable to security breaches and malicious hacking attempts. Cheating can be a problem in sports betting, with some bettors using their knowledge of game patterns to gain an edge over others. Match-fixing and other fraudulent practices contribute to an unpleasant experience for sports bettors. But AI solutions that work by running algorithms related to pattern recognition can be employed by sports betting companies to identify cheating before it occurs.

By using Artificial Intelligence to monitor the betting system and the market, inaccuracies can be identified. These preventive measures can help automate the betting process and rectify any errors.

It is obvious that AI-powered sports betting platforms offer many benefits and opportunities to both the operators and bettors, and have a promising future for the industry. As AI technology becomes more adopted into sports betting, new applications and solutions will become second nature to many processes.

Minecraft Discord Server Leaks Top-Secret US Intelligence Documents

0

Numerous gamers use Discord as their preferred communication method and the Minecraft Discord server has one of the biggest user bases of all. Recently, the specific Discord server came into the limelight as Pentagon’s top-secret intelligence documents became publicly available on the server.

From the Minecraft Discord server, the documents started spreading across different social media platforms. According to an open-source intelligence research firm that monitors the Pentagon leaks, the documents were first discovered on a Minecraft Discord server before they were shared on Twitter and Telegram.

We don’t know who is behind this; we don’t know what the motive is. We don’t know what else might be out there.

National Security Council

According to the intelligence research firm, the origins of the incident trace back to a minor disagreement on the Minecraft Earth Map server between two individuals regarding Minecraft maps and the conflict in Ukraine. Following the altercation, the Discord user proceeded to share the confidential documents on the server.

https://twitter.com/THEEURASIATIMES/status/1644309728322019328

What’s Inside the Top-Secret Documents?

Near about 50 highly classified documents became publicly available after the leak. Apparently, the documents cover intelligence from the US military as well as the CIA. The documents comprise a detailed analysis of the Ukrainian force’s strength across different locations and details of air defenses and military equipment.

In addition, the leaked documents contain a daily intelligence report that is provided to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen, as well as top-secret information that includes Mark Milley and CIA reports on leaders of Israel’s Mossad spy service. The documents also contain intelligence regarding discussions within the South Korean government about sales of artillery ammunition to Kyiv.

Furthermore, the leaked documents contain details of intercepted conversations within allied governments, including communications among the leaders of Israel’s Mossad intelligence service and discussions among members of South Korea’s national security council.

Most importantly, the documents also show that US spies are actively working inside the Russian Government and that the CIA is extracting plans made by Russian intelligence. Now it makes sense why Russian President Vladimir Putin reshuffled the top government officials recently.

Additionally, it has been disclosed that Ukrainian officials have been urging the United States and NATO allies to accelerate the delivery of Western-made air-defense systems and provide them with Western-made jet fighters. According to the leaked documents, Ukraine’s diminishing supply of antiaircraft missiles could enable Russia to attain air supremacy over Ukrainian airspace as soon as May.

It is Discord’s highest priority to ensure a safe experience for our users. When we are made aware of content that violates our policies, our safety team investigates and takes the appropriate action, including banning users, shutting down servers, and engaging with law enforcement. Our dedicated safety team uses a mix of proactive and reactive tools to keep activity that violates our policies off the service, including advanced technology like machine learning models, equipping and empowering community moderators to uphold our policies and community guidelines, and providing in-service reporting mechanisms. Our team also proactively takes additional measures based on wider platform trends or intelligence they receive.

Discord Official

The FBI and Justice Department have already started an investigation focusing on officials with access to that documents. For now, both the person who leaked the documents and the reason behind leaking those documents are still unknown.

Valorant: Patch 6.07 to impose longer penalties for griefers, brings back Bind

0

Griefing is widely witnessed across every co-op game and has wreaked havoc. A player can easily grief a game by quitting out and leaving the other four players to fend for themselves.

Fortunately, the upcoming patch 6.07 in Valorant will bring increased penalties for griefers who are to get tougher punishments if they AFK or skip queues frequently.

The developers are set to impose a one-day ranked ban for players that are frequently AFK during their matches, with the restriction activating far sooner than past punishments. This new approach will require players to sit out a full day suspension.

Queue dodging has taken over Valorant ever since its release as players opt to lose a bit of their RR against the map they tend to skip. More agents should join the fray now that players suffer considerably more severe ranking losses whenever they avoid numerous straight games.

There are many other types of disruptive conduct, but these two are particularly large and have a significant impact on the quality of play.

Further the 6.07 patch brings back Bind to the official map pool alongside some massive structural changes being made to the map. A new skin bundle, “Night Market” bundle also makes its way to the game and shares a resemblance to skins that of CS:GO.

Valorant patch 6.07 official notes

You may find the 6.07 patch notes down below:

1) Agent Updates

UI Indicator Updates

In an effort to consolidate and make consistent use of UI indicators throughout our roster, we’ve updated some abilities to have or not have UI indicators.

Reyna

  • Yellow indicator removed from Leer (C)

KAY/O

  • Critical danger indicator added to FRAG/ment (C)

Skye

  • Yellow indicator removed from Seekers (X)

Killjoy

  • Yellow indicator removed from Alarmbot (E)

Chamber

  • Yellow indicator removed from Trademark (C)

SOVA

  • Sova’s Recon Bolt (E) has been updated to correctly appear when playing with Bloom (graphical effect that makes things brighter) turned off.
  • Sova’s Recon Bolt (E) scanning VFX has been updated to be more visible as it travels through the world.
  • Sova’s Recon Bolt (E) model has been increased in size to more accurately represent its hitbox. This will not affect lineups. The collision as it travels is unchanged.

2) Map Updates

Bind Changes

  • Exit room for B Long to A Lobby teleporter has been moved to outside A Bath.
  • A Lobby has been adjusted to accommodate the new teleporter location.
  • Doorway from A Lobby into A Bath has been widened.
  • Doorway from A Bath to A Site has been widened.
  • Radianite crates on A Site have been adjusted.
  • Barrel has been added on A Site.
  • Back wall on A Site has been adjusted.
  • Defender Spawn to B Site doorway has been widened.
  • Utility window has been added to B Site into B Hall.

3) Player Behavior Updates

AFK/QUEUE DODGING

We have made improvements to our interventions system for violations when it comes to player participation.

  • We’re increasing the amount of Ranked Rating loss for repeated ranked queue dodging
  • We’re introducing a 1 day ranked restriction for people who frequently take part in excessive AFK behavior, sooner than previously introduced ranked restrictions

4) Bug Fixes

Agents

  • Projectiles will now reset their blue travel trail when teleporting, removing the line that connects from teleporter to teleporter. This trail is only visible to allies.

Gameplay Updates

  • (late notes for Patch 6.06) Fixed a bug where Agents are able to drop both primary and secondary weapons while planting or defusing the Spike.
  • Fixed a bug in the minimap where teleport abilities can reveal an Agent’s out-of-sight minimap location when under packet loss.
  • Fixed an issue where some players’ outline/fresnel were displayed even when “Hide Outlines and Fresnel” setting was enabled.
  • Fixed a bug (previously fixed in 3.10, but cases of this issue were recently reported) where sometimes outgoing packet send rate was lower than intended for game clients running at > 128 FPS.
  • Fixed issues where vision cones of vertical wall-type abilities (Phoenix’s Blaze (C), Viper’s Toxic Screen (E), Harbor’s High Tide (E)) could flicker or distort on the minimap.

Social

  • Fixed a bug where the social panel from the in-game options screen was sometimes getting stuck open (for example, when you opened the social panel, closed the options screen, then opened the options screen again).
  • Fixed a bug where when the in-game language is Arabic, and you enter an English word first in a chat message, it would break the right-to-left format standard of text in Arabic.

The patch notes are indeed some fantastic strides towards a safer atmosphere and more gratifying gameplay in the near future, but VALORANT is still not a flawless game when it comes to generating a healthy gaming experience. We strongly hope the above changes featuring the player behavioral updates makes the game a safe haven for new and existing players.
