Entity Gaming announce roster for TI9 Qualifiers, add Luciano to active lineup

Entity Gaming have announced their roster in the lead up to The International 9 Qualifiers. The lineup consists of three stars of the Indian Dota 2 circuit with two experienced imports. Entity Gaming have already qualified for the ESL INDIA Premiership 2019 Summer LAN Finale that is scheduled to take place on 29-30 June in Mumbai.

Interestingly, the roster that is set to represent Entity at Mumbai has been kept intact, with just one change to the lineup. Sandro โ€˜Lucianoโ€™ Aguinaldo comes into the squad and will be donning the โ€˜Offlaneโ€™ role for the organization.

Luciano is a well-renowned name within the South East Asian Dota 2 scene. The 23-year-old represented Detonator previously and was last seen playing alongside Julz, flysolo and Sam_H in team โ€˜Looking for Sponsorโ€™.

Entity Gaming have a somewhat rich recent history as far as The International qualifiers are concerned. The lineup that included the storied Dota 2 journeyman Dominik โ€˜Black^โ€™ Reitmeier managed to win one of the SEA Open Qualifiers and even made it into the Playoffs of the Regional Qualifiers of The International 8.

The aforementioned lineup did not have a single Indian Dota 2 player however, which will be added motivation for the announced roster. Moon, Divine and Zapheto have already etched their names among the top brass of the Indian Dota 2 scene and will now be aiming to conquer SEA as they pit their wits against the best that the region has to offer, starting with the TI9 Open Qualifiers.

Entity Gaming roster for The International 2019 SEA Open Qualifier:

  • Travis โ€œCastawayโ€ Waters
  • Krish โ€œMoonโ€ Gupta
  • Sandro โ€œLucianoโ€ Aguinaldo
  • Amit โ€œZaphetoโ€ Malwal
  • Shahab โ€œDivineโ€ Saleha

w33 joins Team Liquid, to debut at EPICENTER Major

A while ago Team Liquid moved Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen out of their active DOTA 2 roster and started looking for replacements to fill his role of MID laner.

After many days of rumours and leaks, they finally announced his replacement.

Joining Team Liquid is none other than Aliwi โ€œw33โ€ Omar, who is a veteran of the DOTA 2 scene, his best achievement being finishing 2nd at TI6 in 2016 with Team Digital Chaos.

w33 was last seen playing for Chaos Esports Club in the South American region. The team shut shop in the region and shifted to Europe, where it didnโ€™t find any success.

Only time will tell if w33 is the right replacement for MATUMBAMAN.w33 is most well-known for his INVOKER, MEEPO and TIMBERSAW performances.

In a press release by Team Liquid, he had the following to say:

“Iโ€™m happy and thankful to have been given a chance and Iโ€™m ready to prove myself once again.” – Aliwi โ€œw33โ€ Omar

Team Liquid released the following statement:

“Our Dota 2 team is filled with some of the greatest players in the world for their positions and w33 will fit in terrifically with them. W33 has proven himself to be one of the most resourceful mid laners in Dota 2, going toe to toe with the greatest players who have ever played the role. He does not shy away from playing off-meta heroes when required even when the stakes are high as we have seen with his Skywrath and Jakiro.

W33 made a name for himself playing Invoker and Meepo as a pub star but solidified his position as a world-class mid laner during his time on Secret and during his TI6 run. We’re going to unleash that world class mid laner once again.

W33 has continued to impress us during his time in South America where over and over again he has delivered, not only in the mid lane but also with his rotations and his decision making as a player.

Any team would be lucky to have such an outstanding player join their roster and we once again welcome w33 to our family.โ€

Plopski replaces dennis in NiP; Get_Right’s future unsure

Following a string of mediocre results, NiP has decided to make changes to their roster. The move was reported yesterday by DeKay and speculated that Plopski will be joining the team.

With this move, Dennis “dennis” Edman has been moved to the bench position and a, 17-year-old, Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora will be joining the team from Ancient. Team Ancient have shown good results in the recent past with a second place placement at DreamHack Open summer last weekend, where OpTic emerged victoriously.

The team is also looking to replace Get_Right, the legendary player from their roster. The team has been looking to discuss his future as a player and could see him take up a coaching role in the team.

In his statement, pita, the NiP coach, said, โ€œToday we embark on the journey of transforming the Counter-Strike team. To maintain a position as a top tier team, changes to the roster are needed. We have very talented players, but the roles required on the team is something we have to change to make sure we perform at a stable level over time. I am excited to take on these changes with the first step of welcoming Plopski to the team.โ€

Plopski in his own statement said he was excited to join the team, โ€œI am extremely happy to be getting this opportunity. For me, this is a dream come true. Since I was a kid I have always liked this team and it has been my goal to play for them. I still canโ€™t believe this.

My ambition is to play CS: GO and be happy doing it for as many years as possible. I want to win, to keep getting to know amazing people and work harder than ever. I feel NiP is the perfect place for me to keep pursuing my goals.

I canโ€™t wait to start playing with these really talented players. I am sure I will learn a lot from them.โ€

However, with the roster lock dates, Plopski will not be able to play with NiP at the Major and the current squad will be playing at the Berlin Major.

Twitch acquires Social Networking platform Bebo for $25 Million

0

Twitch a subsidiary of Amazon, just acquired social networking platform Bebo for an amount close to $25 million. Together with Bebo, Twitch aims to work on its esports business and for Twitch Rivals series promotion. As per the contract, Twitch will retain all the employees of Bebo (10 currently) and IP.

Twitch wasnโ€™t the only oneinterested in acquiring Bebo, some sources suggest that Discord and Facebook were also in the race, with Facebook offering close to $20 Million.

Founded in 2005, Bebo had a very good start and quickly became most popular social networking site of the time, easily beating competition like MySpace. Bebo reported more than 10 million active users in its prime. But soon the site saw its demise, with Facebook quickly coming up and gaining more traction among users. Bebo quickly lost its lead and was later bought by AOL, who sold Bebo after 2 years citing lack of profitability and decline in service.

Since 2017 Bebo is producing its own software called Bebo Streaming Software, an all-in-one app that let its users stream their gaming sessions directly on Twitch something similar to OBS and Xsplit. Recently, Bebo shifted its interest in organising and hosting tournaments for streamers.

Following the acquisition, Twitch will be using Bebo and its staff for Twitch Rivals series. Twitch Rivals features a series of competitive events aimed at streamers. Rivals will group streamers across the games and have them play competitive matches.

Twitch Rivals currently hosts events for titles such as Apex Legends, Dota 2, Rainbow Six Siege, NBA  2K19, Hearthstone and PUBG.

Counter-Strike’s 20th Anniversary Update: retro Dust II and AUG nerf

Today’s update cherishes the 20th anniversary for Counter-Strike with a retro version of Dust II. However, the retro version is available in casual mode only. Alongside the homage, this update has addressed certain requests of professionals as well as the community.

The devs have nerfed AUG to ‘bring its utility more in line with other rifles’. In other words, the gun’s fire rate is slightly reduced while the accuracy is also reduced when unscoped.

This can disrupt the on-going ‘aim heavy’ meta and can seriously affect teams like FURIA who previously played with five AUGs on CT side. Eventually, this update could bring back little focus on tactical and strategy heavy game play.

In other revamps, Valve has also brought in minor changes to it’s Battle Royale mode, the Danger Zone. It has fixed an exploit involving duplication of items and the players will now spawn closer to their teammates with a pistol.

The Chicken Capsule is also now available for purchase, worth $1 USD. Patch notes for the update can be found here.

[20TH ANNIVERSARY]

  • Celebrate 20 years of Counter-Strike with a retro version of Dust II, currently available in the Casual Dust II map group.
  • The Chicken Capsule is now available for purchase in-game.

[GAMEPLAY]

  • Adjustments to the AUG to bring its utility more in line with other rifles.
  • Slightly reduced rate of fire.
  • Reduced accuracy while unscoped.

[DANGER ZONE]

  • Fixed an exploit involving duplication of items dropped by disarming another player.
  • Players in warmup spawn closer to their teammate.
  • Players in warmup now spawn with a random pistol.
