Singapore-based tournament organiser, One Esports, is returning to the Dota scene with the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Jakarta Invitational.

After One Esportsโ€™ Dota 2 debut event with the Singapore World Pro Invitational, which began last year, it was hugely successful. The event witnessed some of Dota 2โ€™s top tier teams battling for a $500,000 prize pool. Vici Gaming was crowned as champions while Evil Geniuses finished at the second place.

The Jakarta sequel will follow much the same format, with a few additional changes.

The team’s from Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam will be participating in 64 slots best of one matches open qualifier for each sub-region. The top four teams to standout will be playing in the best-of-three playoffs. Only one winner from each region will advance to Live Regional Qualifiers event held in Jakarta and in Kuala Lumpur.

FaZe Clan secures $22.7M loan from Canadian Investment Bank

0

Canadian Investment Bank, Canaccord Genuity last week announced that the leading Esports organization, FaZe Clan will enter into a loan convertible facility worth $22.7 Million with the bank.

According to the information revealed by the Canaccord Genuity, the bank will act as a financial advisor for FaZe Clan and will get a seat in FaZe Clanโ€™s Board of Directors. The convertible loan facility is different from usual forms of investments, namely in this case the $22.7 Million will be treated as a loan until the Bank (Canaccord) decides to convert it into equity at a later date on the pre-defined equity value of $220 Million. Convertible loans are usually undertaken to receive cash for the time period before they receive money from a larger investment.

According to FaZe Clan, the loan amount will be used as working capital and to meet various other organizational expenses. Currently, FaZe Clan is worth more than $220 Million and is ranked as 4th most valued Esports Brand Worldwide.

FaZe Clan competes in six competitive games with a full roster of players, coaches, and analysts. FaZe also self produce various entertainment videos and content which they publish regularly.

According to Esports Observer, convertible loans typically bridge the time between a companyโ€™s immediate need for funding and a round of larger of investment. Upon conclusion of that bigger round, the loan could convert into equity.

Ninjas in Pyjamas adds Daxak and Lelis to Dota 2 roster

After an early exit at the WePlay! Bukovel Minor, the team has confirmed an overhaul to the roster. Nico โ€™Gunnarโ€™ Lopez has left the roster while Nikita โ€™Daxakโ€™ Kuzmin and Rodrigo โ€™Lelisโ€™ Santos has joined.

With hopes at repeating last yearโ€™s success, the roster hasnโ€™t qualified for any DPC Majors and has also performed poorly in any the Minors they had qualified to.

Noting that NIP has two new recruits respectively from the South American and CIS region respectively.

Daxak is well known for his carry play during 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit season for Gambit Esports. Carrying Gambit through several tournaments, they were also one game away from securing themselves a direct invite to The International 9.

Lelis has been a buzz recently, originally from paiN Gaming, he played as a stand-in for beastcoast at the DreamLeauge Leipzig Major as an offlaner. He caught many eyes for domination on his Underlord at the event.

Lelis taking over as an offlaner means that Saahil โ€™Universeโ€™ Arora will be switching to support role.

Like other teams, this new roster will be playing qualifiers for the ESL One Los Angeles Major on Feb 9th.

Tejas “Ace” Sawant might not have topped our 2019 charts for best Counter-Strike players in India, however, he made sure he lifts all three ESL India Premiership trophies. 26-year-old from Mumbai has triumphed each time with different squads. His journey until here has not been plain sailing. With frequent roster changes, no organization to support his side to finally ending on Entity Gaming’s side, 2019 has been a rollercoaster ride for Tejas.

ESL India Premiership 2019 Winter LAN Finale Winner โ€“
Entity Gaming [Amaterasu, Excali, Psy, Ace, PoKI]

From being trained under Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunoviฤ‡ (presently 100 Thieves coach) while Ace and co. ran their campaign for ESL One: Cologne 2014 Major to retirement in 2015, Ace is still a prominent name in the subcontinent. Most of 2018, he played with an Indonesian lineup which goes by the name of EXECUTIONERS (XCN), but in late 2018 he returned back as Signify hired his service to establish their presence in Indian Counter-Strike with a star-studded roster.

After Summer Finale of 2019, Signify disbanded citing a conflict of interest while the core of Signify’s CS:GO roster sticked together and dominated the scene under the banner of Orgless5ive. Soon after, he was signed by Entity Gaming and ever since, Ace is showcasing why he is at peak while most of his teammates from Team Wolf of 2014 are past their glory as we enter 2020 season.

Entity Gaming win ESL India Premiership Winter Lan Finale

A new Counter-Strike champion has been crowned after three days of competition in Delhi, India.

Entity Gaming are the champions of ESL India Premiership Winter Lan Finale 2019 after defeating BL4ZE today 2-1 in the grand finals.

Earlier in the tournament, they swept Global Esports 2-0 on Train and Mirage in the semifinals, while BL4ZE stomped Pheonix Esports 2-0 on Vertigo and Inferno shortly after.

Spanning three games, the final took place on Overpass, Nuke, and Infernoโ€”all maps both teams are comfortable playing., a fact that became obvious as each game featured some palpable tension.

Entity Gaming vs BL4ZE Bo3 Recap

The vetoes can be found here:

  • Entity Gaming banned Vertigo
  • BL4ZE banned Mirage
  • Entity Gaming picked Overpass
  • BL4ZE picked Nuke
  • Entity Gaming banned Dust 2
  • BL4ZE banned Train
  • Inferno was leftover

The best of 3 series started on Overpass with Entity gaming winning their pistol round on T side which saw them go 3-0 Upon the scoreboard. But a quick 4k defence with the shotgun from Agneya ‘Marzil’ Koushik helped Bl4ze Esports to tie the score 3-3. Rafael โ€œRaphโ€ Marรงal proved to be a nuisance for ETG as he did stop a marching T side by making three of the terrorist way perish on the B site. But we did witness both the teams go head to head as Simar โ€œPsyโ€ Sethi was so instrumental with his AWP before BL4ZE Esports won an Eco in the 14th round hence ending the half with a score of 9-6. Coming onto the second half we saw Entity Gaming picking up yet another pistol round by successfully retaking the B site. But ETG did start to have a miserable time on the server when on the 20th round, BL4ZEโ€™s Ganesh โ€œSK Rossi Gangadhar aka Superk1d crippled through the CT defence by getting a 3k on the A site with his Krieg thus snatching away yet another round for his team. Heroics from Kiran โ€œRossiโ€ R. did help his team achieve match point with yet another maimed showing by the CT side. In the end, We saw the duo of Marzil and Cara doing the honours by clinching away Overpass from the hands of ETG which happened to be their pick only to regret upon their choice.

With a fierce momentum, BL4ZE Esports locked horns with the struggling ETG on their pick Nuke. They did clinch the pistol round on theirย  T side with yet another strategy which would see them cripple the CT defence. But with the fire still in their bellies, ETG gaming couldnโ€™t live up with the humiliation with some collective stellar showings from Psy and Excali which did help them to gain a healthy lead of 6-3. Psy and Anuj โ€œAmaterasuโ€ Sharma each with 2kills successfully stopped a marching T side who were determined to plant the C4 on the B site thus finishing the first half with an unassailable lead of 10 to 5. But things seemed to go out of ETGโ€™s hands as BL4ZE not entirely successful but their efforts came out to be worthy as they saw themselves go head to head with Entity gaming. But the later wouldnโ€™t give up as Karan โ€œExcaliโ€ Mhawadkar did set up a stellar show by crippling the CT defence and thus punishing BL4ZEโ€™s guys in every sector of the map. We did see ETG clinching an early map point with a scoreline of 15-10. But BL4ZE did come out to be indispensable with the duo of Raph and Sk Rossi aka Superk1d purging out the CTs with some key clutches and eliminations. Despite of a possible comeback gig setup by Marzil and his men, they were unable to play with their tyrannising rhythm as we saw ETG clinch BL4ZEโ€™s map pick Nuke.

The final frontier Map Inferno which would lock the fates of either of teams was kick-started with ETG gaming swaying on their CT side by taking a dominating 5-0 lead thanks to Psyโ€™s 2k with the AWP which saw BL4ZE Esports lose their buy round. But Rossi though didnโ€™t let his teamโ€™s morale go down as he did put up a show worthy enough to watch when he successfully denied the CT retake on the B Bombsite with a blistering 2k. The Iconic international due of Raph and Cara did help BL4ZE to tie the scoreline 5-5 with 2k each with some amazing Lurking tactics. ETG Gamingโ€™s Psy and Amaterasu did put back their team in the driverโ€™s seat when the later duo scoped down 3 of BL4ZEโ€™s guys on the B site and 2 on the A site to successfully defend their respective sites. Once again the duo of Raph and Cara helped BL4ZE to switch sides with a scoreline of 6 to 9. In the second half, we yet saw another stellar performance from ETG Gaming who won the pistol round after a successful charge up onto the A site. After a plethora of losing rounds, BL4ZE did struggle on their CT side which was being crippled by Tejas โ€œrite2aceโ€ Sawant and his men after the duo of Psy and Amaterasu cheered their way into the B site and hence denying the CT retake with a 2k each in the 19th round. With no fuel left in their tank, BL4ZE Esports seemed to be helpless after a string of denying attempts to defend both the sites where we saw the efforts ofย  Raph and Marzil going down the drain.

Despite a promising comeback, BL4ZE couldnโ€™t live up to their expectations as they fell to Psy and his men who are now your champions of the ESL India Premiership Winter Title and now secure a lionโ€™s share of 5.25L INR.

Dota 2: LGD.International revealed through team registration

After months of rumours around, LGD has finally unveiled its expansion with a team LGD. International and the players that will be powering the roster.

The organization was teasing about an International roster for months on their official channels, however, there was no firm word about it until a full list of LGD. International players showed up on Valveโ€™s official Major and Minor registry.

The new roster will feature five players from the Southeast Asia region in an attempt to stand up to glory in upcoming qualifiers.

  • Christian-John โ€œSkadiโ€ Abasolo
  • Wang โ€œGyโ€ Kok Guan
  • Rick โ€œDarlyโ€ Lee Ryc Kee
  • Yuri โ€œYoweโ€ Pacaรฑa
  • Pang โ€œBrayaNtโ€ Jian Zhe

Skadi, widely knows as Skadilicious is a player that has been around the SEA scenario a while playing for teams like Neon Esports and recently, Lowkey Esports. While in his days at Neon, he witnessed some success locally, though it did not let him make a dent in any events of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit.

Yowe is also coming from the same team, Lowkey Esports. Skadi & Yowe departing at the same time from the team, both have played alongside the likes of Sam โ€˜Sam Hโ€™ hidalgo for a brief period.

Coming to BrayaNt, he is likely to be captain of this team as he actually had some experience playing at high tier Dota. Before joining the roster after fleeing from CDEC Avengers, he has spent time with Geek Fam and has been active since 2014.

GY is also another player following footsteps of their former teammates coming from CDEC Avengers to join the roster.

Daryl is the final player of the team. On his record, except his time with Genesis Pro Gaming, there isnโ€™t much to show.

We expect the squad to compete in SEA qualifiers for the upcoming ESL One Los Angeles Major which are bound to happen on February 9th.
