Electronic Sports League (ESL), the organiser of upcoming major have revealed that the qualifiers for Rio 2020 major shall be hosted on the latest patch of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The tournament organiser took Twitter to officially announce this move.

The North-America and Europe open qualifiers are set to commence today while the update was shipped just yesterday. The players might require a timeframe in-between to be familiar with the crucial changes of three active-duty maps โ€“ Dust II, Mirage and Train.

The update has opened skyboxes at B site on Dust II and Ivy on Train while Mirage has received half a dozen changes throughout the map. The update nudges towards strategy heavy game-play.

Steam servers are back Online

Steam servers have started to recover, the unofficial website Steam Status suggests. Upon checking the friends network, which was earlier down, the function seems to be operating just fine.

After a wide downtime across 50% of the Steam services, Twitter started exploding with large number of people tweeting the issue. Despite the downtime, no official statement was made public by the official Steam social media handles.

The services including, Steam store, CS:GO & DotA 2 servers, friends network, and other profile responded with a Error.

Although the downtime was comparatively large, the services now seem to be fine.

The load on the EU & Polish CS:GO servers still appear to be on High Load as per SteamStat, but 99% of the services are reportedly back online.

Why Kobe was a synonym to CSGO grenade kill

With a scintillating 20-year NBA career all with the Lakers and being adjudged as a โ€œfierce competitorโ€ by Michael Jordan from Chicago Bulls, with heavy hearts we bid farewell to Kobe Bryant after he lost his life in a helicopter crash which even saw his daughter perish in the same as well. We at TalkEsport are in grief and do pay respects to his family and loved ones.

With this news, basketball players and the fans across the globe do mourn the loss of the Bryant Family but along with it the CS:GO community do pay their respects as well. Of course, some of us would have this question: What does the CS:GO community got to do behind the Veteranโ€™s sad demise? The sole answer is, Have you ever landed a HE Grenade with a pitch-perfect trajectory and got the frag of the opponent? Yes, that does mean it my friend. We all are familiar with Kobe Bryantโ€™s perfect Dunks and how precise they would be every time when he would go for them. His scrupulous freestyles and Arm movements always assisted him to land a perfect Dunk and score for his team. Kobeโ€™s perfect dunks and our attempts to land a perfect HE Grenade in order to deal heavy damage to the opponents in a CS:GO PUG/ Competitive match are so similar as both of the preferences qualify the same objective: Help our team to have an upper hand with an advantage. This phenomenon is always witnessed when someone kills his opponent with a frag grenade and shouts with his guts, โ€œKOBEEEEEโ€.

New CSGO Update brings big changes in Mirage & Dust2

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Developers have bought in some massive changes to their most played maps from the Active Duty Pool. Mirage, Dust2 and Train are the ones which have been overhauled and refurbished. To be more precise, let us focus on the final layouts and the probable aftermaths which the players will get to experience.

Starting with the Map Mirage, a new bench has been added near the sniper nest on the middle. This would help the players to self boost themselves in the sniper nest which does cancel out the old strategy to ask someone to provide help for the same. Coming on to the next remodel, a sealed door but yet penetrable has been added to the Palace position on the A-site which allows us to wall-bang through it and thus would kill the player hiding in the corner who would be camping for the opponent in the Palace to march in. Perhaps this wall-bang can be achieved only with the AWP Sniper rifle. In addition to these changes, the last revamp matters on the B-site where the trimmed wall in the balcony has been removed which now allows the player to defend the site from various angles. Also, the Jump spot has been removed from the middle of the site with the gap having been filled up to avoid the CT advantage from stopping the B-short to the B Bombsite approach.

Moving on to Train, the IVY position has now been revamped with itโ€™s Skybox now removed which gives the Tโ€™s an upper hand to execute a Smoke and Flash Line up to enter the A-site assisting the previous strategy where the player could only throw a Smoke Grenade from the T Main. However this could totally be a nightmare for the Terrorists and their plans as the same could also be used by the CTs by throwing a smoke hence blocking the IVY entrance which would make the opponents park their bus.

The Final remodelled map is the Famous Dust2. On this remarkable map, we now witness some changes in the B halls with its skybox removed thus allowing the players to execute their Smoke and Flash Line-ups making the life of CTs miserable or vice-versa. This is the first time in Dust2โ€™s history where we are now able to execute some strategies from the B Halls with the possibility of even faking it.

These Map changes may take days maybe even weeks to get used to and will affect several types of approaches and strategies.

SumaiL joins OG

Recently, OG ended up with three vacant slots after their primary carry, offlaner and roaming support decided to either retire or take a break from competitive Dota. With the legendary back-to-back TI winning stack coming down to only two members of its core members, OG was already looking for replacements.

The first replacement pick for OG has been revealed, and it is none other than Sumail โ€œSuma1Lโ€ Hassan on the carry role. He will be replacing Anathan “ana” Pham as the safe lane carry/ position 1. OG on its blog post announced, “The strive for excellence is what always drives us to go further here at OG. And thatโ€™s precisely what a player like Sumail has to offer.” “He is now ready for a new challenge. Not the kind of guy whoโ€™s content with just watching, you know,” the post read.

Sumail is an extremely gifted mid-laner known for his aggressive gameplay style, but his mechanical skill as a carry and core player in general is also one of the highest in the world. He is the youngest player to ever win a TI only at the age of 16. The Pakistan born prodigy’s reputation is unmatched when it comes to core players and he has consistently topped the MMR leader boards proving his high skill cap. Playing Sumail as a carry might seem unorthodox to many, since his primary skills are in the midlane, but Sumail had already endured change in lanes back when he was playing carry in Quincy Crew and still managed to put up a show. So, it seems much easier to play Suma1L as a carry while Topias ‘Topson’ Taavitsainen keeps chatwheeling opponents in the midlane. What remains to be seen is how OG utilizes Suma1L’s skills and manages to inculcate his potential into their team composition and style of Dota.

It is pleasing to see one of the best players in the world joining the absolute best team in the world. The fans and the community can’t wait to see the new roster in action, but two slots still remain and the replacements are yet to be announced. So, the long wait for the new OG squad still continues till further announcements are made.

Currently the active roster for OG is:

  • Topias โ€˜Topsonโ€™ Taavitsainen (Position 2)ย
  • Sumail โ€œSuma1Lโ€ Hassan (Position 1)ย
  • Johan โ€œN0tailโ€ Sundstein (Position 5)

CSGO: ESL VP apologises to teams that lost their Pro League slot

Ulrich Schulze, Senior Vice President of Modern Times Group-owned Electronic Sports League (ESL) has issued an apology to several striving teams earlier today. This just comes in a couple of days after reports surfaced suggesting that ESL is likely to reduce Pro League slots from 48 to 24. ESL plans to discard regional Pro Leagues and focus on a global league for all regions with appropriate representation.

The new list of ESL Pro League teams includes previous ESL Pro League Season 10 LAN Finals participants, Mountain Dew League winner, organizations that have signed Lanxess agreement and other teams are invited according to ESL world rankings. The relegation stage of EPL S10 has been called off and the teams are likely to play MDL S33.

And the most frightening part of the turn of events is the fact that ESL did not communicate with teams that were to lose their EPL slots. Most of the players and organizations got to know only after the reports began surfacing.

The intact statement from senior VP of ESL is attached beneath. He said on Twitter, “On Friday, we announced large changes to ESL Pro League for 2020 and beyond. As part of it, a number of teams were informed that they would not have a slot in the upcoming season. We apologize that we have not conducted the process up to the desired standards.”

“We got it wrong by not letting affected teams know further in advance that significant changes were coming, including the number of teams playing. While several important elements that the leagueโ€™s structure were unknown until last week, the teams were not given enough notice.”

“We were not specific enough about how teams can get back to EPL in the future. We are still working on final details in consultation with CSPPA, but any of the teams will be able to make it back in S12 – not only through MDL and in a way that ensures regional representation.”

“We did not engage with the affected teams enough to understand how we can preserve the value the EPL slot held for them. We have reached out to all teams and are going to speak this week to make sure that we can address their concerns to the best possible extent.”

“ESL Pro League and MDL are core elements of ESL Pro Tour, and it is our clear intent to make sure that MDL remains and grows as a stable environment for teams to compete in below EPL. All teams affected by the format change have the option to compete there in the coming season.”

“In 2020 we have opened the ESL Pro Tour up with a large number of opportunities for spiring teams to reach the Masters level, including spots for Challenger tournaments in Masters tournaments and a mandated percentage of open online qualifiers in our Masters stops.”

“We remain committed to making sure that over the broad spectrum of our activities as many teams as possible receive chances to compete at the highest level. We will release more details in the next days and will continue to provide updates and engage with everyone on this topic.”

The turn of events were critically slammed by the Counter-Strike community. However, CSPPA also registered its disappointment with ESL’s way of functioning and esport historian Duncan “Thorin” Shields has publically announced his displeasure and said that he would not work with ESL in future.
