SumaiL joins OG

Johan “N0tail” Sundstein confirmed today that Syed “SumaiL” Hassan will be added to OG’s Dota 2 roster.

Recently, OG ended up with three vacant slots after their primary carry, offlaner and roaming support decided to either retire or take a break from competitive Dota. With the legendary back-to-back TI winning stack coming down to only two members of its core members, OG was already looking for replacements.

The first replacement pick for OG has been revealed, and it is none other than Sumail “Suma1L” Hassan on the carry role. He will be replacing Anathan “ana” Pham as the safe lane carry/ position 1. OG on its blog post announced, “The strive for excellence is what always drives us to go further here at OG. And that’s precisely what a player like Sumail has to offer.” “He is now ready for a new challenge. Not the kind of guy who’s content with just watching, you know,” the post read.

Sumail is an extremely gifted mid-laner known for his aggressive gameplay style, but his mechanical skill as a carry and core player in general is also one of the highest in the world. He is the youngest player to ever win a TI only at the age of 16. The Pakistan born prodigy’s reputation is unmatched when it comes to core players and he has consistently topped the MMR leader boards proving his high skill cap. Playing Sumail as a carry might seem unorthodox to many, since his primary skills are in the midlane, but Sumail had already endured change in lanes back when he was playing carry in Quincy Crew and still managed to put up a show. So, it seems much easier to play Suma1L as a carry while Topias ‘Topson’ Taavitsainen keeps chatwheeling opponents in the midlane. What remains to be seen is how OG utilizes Suma1L’s skills and manages to inculcate his potential into their team composition and style of Dota.

It is pleasing to see one of the best players in the world joining the absolute best team in the world. The fans and the community can’t wait to see the new roster in action, but two slots still remain and the replacements are yet to be announced. So, the long wait for the new OG squad still continues till further announcements are made.

Currently the active roster for OG is:

  • Topias ‘Topson’ Taavitsainen (Position 2)
  • Sumail “Suma1L” Hassan (Position 1)
  • Johan “N0tail” Sundstein (Position 5)
