Krafton drops hints at BGMI launch for iOS devices

Krafton has successfully launched their new battle royale game called Battlegrounds Mobile India in the country. BGMI has garnered millions of downloads till date but it was only released for android devices in the initial stages. Now, the developers have started to drop hints about a possible launch of BGMI on iOS devices.

Battlegrounds Mobile India was developed as the substitute for PUBG Mobile in India. PUBG was one of the most played games in India on mobile devices and since Indian government banned this game, players had no choice but to leave the game or play on the other versions.

Krafton made a comeback in India after a period of 9 months by announcing BGMI but some players were unhappy as the game was not launched for iOS devices. The reason behind this exclusion was not explained but now, the developers are getting ready for a full-fledged launch.

Recently, the developers have made posted two images which clearly states that Battlegrounds Mobile India is about to be released for iOS devices. The announcement does not include any release date yet but more details could be announced very soon.

Players owning iOS devices had to wait for the official release and to adapt with the partial release, most of the content creators switched to android devices for streaming and practicing.

Krafton has also made some minor changes in their upcoming tournaments. Their first ever tournament called Battlegrounds Mobile India Series was scheduled to start very soon but it has been postponed for indefinite time.

The reason for postponing this tournament was not stated but apparently, it might have been done to accommodate for the official iOS launch. BMIS was restricted to android platform in the earlier stages but players with iOS devices might be able to participate in it as well, if the developers provide platform support before the tournament begins.

As stated above, the release date for BGMI iOS launch is still not revealed but players can hope for an official release in the next few months.

Recently, India Today Gaming, organizers of the Esports Premier League 2021 released the names of eight invited teams for Level 2. The invitees were revealed shortly after Level 1 concluded. 88 teams made their way through the next stage where they competed with the eight of the invited teams.

Esports Premier League 2021 is divided into 4 phases. Phase 1 featured amateur and semi-professional teams across the country which competed against each other to finish in the top 22 teams from each group. A total of 88 teams qualified for phase 2 who were joined with the 8 invited teams. These teams competed in the level 2 phase out of which the top 8 teams made it through the Level 3 stage. 

The end of each day will end with teams and their standings revealing their positions on the scoreboard.

Mojang Studios has finally released the Minecraft 2.28 update for PS4 players. This update introduced minor changes along with stability improvements.

According to the developers, the last major update fixed a lot of bugs. However, players are still facing a lot of issues. Here comes the 2.28 patch.

  • Fixed an issue where players die and instantly respawn after traveling back to Overworld from the End in certain circumstances.

  • Fixed a crash that could occur on Xbox when suspending and resuming the title for the second time
  • Addressed a bug where the horse becomes invisible after being dismounted.
  • On Realms, the ‘/msg’ command once again works when the world is in Survival mode and cheats are disabled.
  • After renewing an expired Realm, the Realm is now properly renewed instead of a new Realm being created.

Report: Vanity to join Cloud9 Blue Valorant

The 22-year-old North American might soon reunite with his former teammates Erick “Xeppaa” Bach and Nathan “leaf” Orf from Chaos EC CSGO at Cloud9 Blue.

According to a report from Rush B Media, Anthony “vanity” Malaspina has been linked to Cloud9 Blue Valorant with the North American side expected to close the deal soon. Vanity was earlier allowed by Version1 to re-evaluate his options going forward post the team’s elimination from the VCT Stage 3 Challengers 2. 

Yet another roster shuffle looms over the Cloud9 Blue Valorant camp as the Los Angeles based Organization seems to weigh up its options by securing the roster acquisition of Vanity from Version1. Their recent exit from the Open qualifier of VCT Stage 3 Challengers 2 have had Cloud9 scratching their head as they now look to expand to a six-man roster. Ricky “floppy” Kemery who joined Cloud9 Blue from the organization’s CSGO division is rumored to step down from the active roster making way for Vanity.

Under Version1, Vanity steered the latter to Valorant’s first-ever LAN tournament at VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters in Reykjavík, Iceland. Prior to the same, Version1 beat Cloud9 in the Challengers Final of VCT 2 only to represent the North American region along with Sentinels at the former. Although Version1 failed to redeem their charm this time at the recently concluded Challengers 2 where they were denied a spot further in the tournament by Gen.G. This will mark Version1’s second roster change since the departure of Keven “PLAYER1” Champagne from their active Valorant division. 

At Cloud9 Blue, Vanity might take up the reigns as the team’s In-Game leader, earlier led by Mitch “Mitch” Semago. The report from Rush B Media suggests that the negotiations are nearly complete between Vanity and Cloud9.

Everyone starts streaming hoping to make it big on platforms like Twitch and YouTube but only a few do. Becoming a celebrity streamer comes with fair share of troubles which make life extremely unpleasant at times which is the case for Pokimane.

One of the most popular streamers on Twitch, Pokimane boasts millions of fans around the world who are willing to dedicate time from their day just to watch her stream. As much as this kind of support means a lot for streamers, they might find themselves under unwanted pressure to meet expectations.

In fear of burnout, Pokimane took a break from streaming which made her reconsider the way she goes about maintaining her work-life balance. “There is always a little bit of that sentiment of like, should I stream? I’m playing games off-stream, so should I stream that?” she said.

“It is just so hard to properly enjoy your time off without thinking that you should or could be doing more, especially with streaming,” she added. “It’s the one thing where there are just about no diminishing returns if you can stream 20 hours a day, every single day.” added Pokimane.

So far what is suggested is an re-worked streaming schedule that will help her keep stress at bay. Streaming dedicatedly and consistently often yields amazing results but at the cost of the streamer’s health which has to be taken into account.

So far her stress-busting plans are publicized but the community will appreciate her taking out time for herself if she eventually end up doing so.

Global Esports beat XO to qualify for VCC South Asia Main Event

Global Esports swept away EsportsXO, winning the first three maps in their best-of-five series to win the Final of the VCC India Qualifier #2 (13-1 Haven, 13-9 Ascent, 13-10 Icebox). With the win over XO, Global Esports join Velocity Gaming at the VCC South Asia Finals while XO will join Enigma Gaming in the Wildcard Qualifiers for the same.

Haven was a very quick affair, with Global Esports opting to go for early rushes starting out on the Attacking side. Ganesh ‘SkRossi’ Gangadhar ended the map with 21 kills over the 14 rounds, registering an ADR of 222.4.

Ascent saw XO start well and gain a 5-4 lead before Global Esports started pulverizing their opponents, ultimately ending in a 13-9 win for Bhavin ‘HellRanger’ Kotwani & co.

On Icebox, we saw Abhirup Paul ‘Lightningfast’ Choudhury wielding the Operator to good effect as Global Esports mounted a comeback on the Attacking side, overturning a 10-8 deficit into a 13-10 win on the map, closing out the best-of-five series in quick and dominating fashion.

SkRossi was undoubtedly the MVP of the Final in VCC India Qualifier #2, with the Global Esports star ending the series with 10 more total kills than any other player over the three maps (60 in total) and being the only player to breach the 300 mark in ACS (308) in the finals.

Will We See Esports At Paris Olympics 2024?

We have witnessed many new additions to the Olympic Games over the years and the 2020 games, hosted by Tokyo, were no different. In fact, there were no fewer than five new sports added to the 2020 Olympic Games, with baseball/softball, karate, sport climbing, surfing, and skateboarding the latest sports to be played at the Olympic level.

In addition to the five new sports at the 2020 Olympics, there were fifteen new events within existing sports to be included, with 3×3 basketball, freestyle BMX, madison cycling, and mixed events among those available for participants. With the likes of surfing, skateboarding, and 3×3 basketball among the latest additions, could we see Esports added to the Olympic Games in the future?

Esports At Paris Olympics 2024

The debate over whether players are athletes when competing in Esports events has rumbled on for many years and this may be the overriding factor in determining whether Esports can be included in the Olympic Games. How is it possible to decide if a person competing in an Esports event is an athlete?

Perhaps the best place to begin is with a definition of the word ‘athlete’. A definition from the Cambridge Dictionary, states an athlete is “a person who is very good at sports or physical exercise”.

Taking the last section of the definition and there can be doubt, an Esports player is participating in physical exercise. They are working the muscles in their arms and fingers as they control the characters or vehicles on the screen and this can be extremely tough.

Qualification of Esports As A Sport

Many of the world’s leading Esports players have suffered injuries as a result of their activity and playing the games at a high level, on a regular basis, is a huge strain on the body.

So, in terms of physical exercise, that is a box ticked for Esports players. However, some will say that sitting down in a chair does not constitute physical exercise. Interestingly, there are several events at the Olympic Games during which participants are sitting down. The cycling and BMX events are good examples and competitors are sat or have the option of sitting on a seat when participating in a race. Rowing is another example of an Olympic sport during which the participants are sitting down. 

Playing Esports at the highest level also takes a great deal of training and dedication. There are always plenty of good stories surrounding the journey of an athlete leading into the Olympic Games, usually highlighting the dedication, effort, and sacrifices they have made to reach the games.

The same applies to professional Esports competitors, who are putting in hours of practice away from the big events in order to excel at their craft. Some Esports players have been found to train up to 50 hours per week, which is a lot of time.

In terms of seeing Esports at the Olympic Games in the future, there can be little doubt players meet the criteria of an athlete. It will be at the discretion of the International Olympic Committee to bring forward the idea of Esports being an event at future games. The IOC and professional Esports organizations have spoken about the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as a possibility for Esports to make its debut but that now seems unlikely. However, there has been a discussion and that is promising for the future.

And Sweden, officially disassociating – by saying esports is not a sport – with an esports event of a fair size isn’t going to help the cause either.

Global Esports Qualify for Valorant Conquerors Championship by beating Team XO in Grand Finals

Global Esports have finally won their Grand Finals of the VCC qualifiers #2 after defeating Team XO in the Grand Finals. They are now the second Indian team to qualify for the main event.

They finished second in the VCC Qualifiers #1 after losing to Velocity Gaming in a closely contested matchup. 

The Grand Finals was a best of five series where Global Esports showcased a dominating performance throughout and took a clean win of 3-0 in the series.

The map veto began with Team XO removing Breeze from the map pool and Global Esports picking Haven. The second map was Ascent which was chosen to be played by Team XO. Icebox was then picked by Global Esports and Bind by Team XO. Split was left out to be played as the decider for the series. 

The first map of the series saw Global Esports winning by a huge margin with Ganesh “SKRossi” Gangadhar leading the scoreboard with 21K-7D and giving his team the perfect start. They won the map with a scoreline of 13-1.

Global Esports kept their composure in the second map as well and started off by winning seven rounds in the first half. They were able to get the remaining rounds in the next half and close out the map 13-9 in their favor.

The third map saw a head-to-head fight between both the teams leading to both the teams securing six rounds each in the first half. Team XO started the second half on a good note and won the next four rounds. Although, Global Esports came back and won seven rounds consecutively eventually winning the map 13-10 and the series 3-0.

Global Esports became the last team to qualify for the Valorant Conquerors Championship Main Event from the regional qualifier.
There is still a slot left for the main event and for that Team XO will be competing in the Wildcard Qualifiers. The matches will be streamed on Nodwin Gaming‘s Youtube channel.

VCC : Wildcard to start, Team XO in contention for the final passage

The Wildcard event for the Valorant Conquerors Championship is about to get underway with a total of 7* teams set to lock horns for the only spot at the former, scheduled to start from August 20. 

*It seems, a team has already withdrawn from the Wildcard event which would help MAXD Esports advance onto the Upper Bracket Semi-Finals while the other six would have to play their Quarter Final fixtures.

At the end of May, Riot had announced its collaboration with Nodwin Gaming to give the South Asian region its first-ever official Championship event and to be a part of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Circuit. Five regional qualifiers along with a wildcard event had been decked up by the event organizer out of which, five teams have already been determined for the VCC’s main event.

In the wake of the final spot to be filled, the teams who were unable to advance from their regional qualifiers will have yet another shot at redemption towards the main VCC qualification.

Here is the list** of the teams who would feature in the upcoming wildcard event:

1. Team XO
2. Team Enigma
3. Team Arrow
4. MAXD Esports
5. Legion
6. Lexious Gaming
7. Regal e-sports

Across the regional qualifiers, Team XO were sent packing by Global Esports in the grand finals of the second qualifier while Enigma secured a spot at the Wildcard post their consecutive Semi-Finals appearances. In the PK/AF qualifier, Team Arrow were denied a spot further in VCC twice in the finals while MAXD were successful in winning the Tie-breaker.

Legion (Indo-Nepal Mixture), Lexious Gaming (Sri Lanka) and Regal e-sports (Bangladesh) are the other three teams who would count on their stars while competing.

The format of the Wildcard event will be split into Upper Bracket (UB) and Lower Bracket (LB) rounds. Teams dropping from the UB Quarterfinals and Semifinals would have to go through the Lower Bracket rounds followed by LB round 3 and a final. The mapping has been attached below.
