Wild Rift Patch Notes 2.5: Veigar, Guilds and more

Riot Games has released a big patch for their mobile title League of Legends: Wild Rift. This new patch brings a ton of changes to in-game champion pool and introduces new champions, gameplay changes and features. Here are the patch notes for Wild Rift 2.5 update.

NEW CHAMPION: VEIGAR

LOLWR_Patch25_VeigarSplash.jpg

An enthusiastic yordle sorcerer, Veigar has embraced powers that few others dare even approach. As a free-spirited inhabitant of Bandle City, he once longed to learn more of the celestial magic practiced by mortals, but his natural curiosity was twisted by imprisonment in the Immortal Bastion. Veigar will be a new addition to the mage pool of Wild Rift and can be played as a midlaner or support. The new champion will be released on 15th October.

NEW FEATURES

GUILDS

LOLWR_Patch25_Guilds.jpg

Riot Games has added a completely new feature called Guilds to Wild Rift. This is a new social place where players can come together to interact and form a community. It also has various exciting features and a detailed list is provided below:

CREATING A GUILD

  • Guilds are available from account level 9 onwards
  • Creating a Guild costs 200 Wild Cores or 400 Poro Coins. We’re adding a small cost here because we want to encourage players to create and join Guilds for the long term
  • Use the Guild Finder to search for a Guild based on shared interests, skill level, or language

BEING PART OF A GUILD

  • In the Guild Chat… chat to your whole Guild!
  • In the Guild Feed, react to posts with emotes
  • Post an invite to your Guild to fill premade lobbies
  • Moderate Guilds and nominate Officers to help keep the peace

PERSONALIZATION

  • As a Guild Leader, select a name, icon, tag, labels, and description to show off what your Guild is all about
  • When part of a Guild, you’ll obtain a Guild Plate: your Guild’s name and icon appears in several places in Wild Rift, including your profile banner, lobby, leaderboards, and more

LEVELING AND REWARDS

  • Playing with your Guild awards Guild Points, leveling up the entire Guild with more customization options, an increased member cap, and more benefits
  • Playing with Guildmates awards the Poro Blessing: a small bonus to Blue Motes and account XP (the more Guildmates you play with, the higher the bonus)

GUILD VS GUILD

The fun doesn’t stop there! Harness those bonds and stoke the fires of competition in a new seasonal matchup series, Guild vs Guild (GvG)!

LOLWR_Patch25_GvG1.jpg

GVG BASICS

  • A weekly competition between two Guilds selected to go head to head
  • Earn Supplies for your Guild by completing community missions—some attainable solo, many missions will require you to team up with Guildmates
  • The highest Supplies total at the end wins that week of GvG!

WEEKLY MATCHUPS

  • Each week, all Guilds are assigned one of two champions in that week’s matchup
  • Guilds will take the side of one of Runeterra’s champs to fight for their cause, with unique dialog in-game
  • The first GvG season is set in Piltover and Zaun!
  • A Guild’s first matchup will be a Battle Exercise against a bot Guild as a practice run

MISSIONS

  • Missions are completed cumulatively throughout the week by the entire Guild
  • Each mission has multiple milestones; the more milestones completed, the more Supplies the Guild earns
  • Completing missions also reward Guild Points to level up your Guild
LOLWR_Patch25_GvG2.jpg

ARMED AND UNARMED

  • At the start of each week, all Guild members will be assigned one of two states: Armed or Unarmed
  • The more Armed players in the Guild at the end of the week, the higher your Champion Favor, which multiplies your Supplies total
  • Only the Guild with the higher Champion Favor avails of the boost
  • To max out your final score, aim to have as many of your Guild Armed as possible
  • Unarmed players do not receive Trophy Points from missions, but “bank” their Trophy Points for when they become Armed
  • Unarmed players can become Armed by playing with another Armed Guildmate
  • Armed players receive bonus rewards for playing with Unarmed players

SABOTAGING

  • Late in the week of GvG, the currently-losing team will be offered a chance to Sabotage their opponents
  • Sabotaging is a last-ditch effort to reduce your opponents’ final Supplies total
  • Only premade groups of five Guildmates can contribute to a Sabotage, which requires winning games as five-person groups in a 24-hour period
  • The winning team is then able to defend the Sabotage with their own premade-as-five wins over the following 24 hours
LOLWR_Patch25_GvG3.jpg

WINNING GVG

  • The final Supplies total takes into account the Guild’s completed missions (including individual contributions), Champion Favor (the Guild with the higher Armed rate), and Sabotage totals (reducing opponents’ Supplies)
  • The Guild with the highest total Supplies wins that week of GvG!

REWARDS

  • By participating, winning, and completing objectives, earn unique rewards exclusive to Guilds
  • Trophy Points are awarded to level up seasonal GvG progress
  • Earning Supplies and/or winning in Guild vs Guild improves a Guild’s rank on the leaderboards, and upgrades the Guild Plate

MATCHMAKING

Riot Games will be introducing following changes in the upcoming mini patches of Wild Rift version 2.5. The changes to matchmaking are as follows:

  • A new matchmaking algorithm which causes the system to focus more on MMR (matchmaking rating: a number behind the scenes that determines how well we think you will play in your next game) than rank. This change will make matches much fairer overall, but you may see wider rank discrepancies in game. This will be rolled out gradually throughout Patch 2.5.
  • To address the rank discrepancies above, we’ve added a Rank Competence Tag to the loading screen—when a player’s MMR is significantly higher than their rank, you’ll see this in the loading screen to have more confidence you’re being put into the same game as similarly-skilled players.
  • We’re introducing a backend system that adjusts the way we create matches in real-time. It’s a bit complex, so bear with us:
    • In patch 2.4 and before, the matchmaker only let players match if their MMR and rank were within a certain distance of each other. That distance started small, and then grew a set amount every second, which happened over a 2 minute period. After that, the allowed Rank and MMR gap had fully expanded, and the system stayed in this “expanded” state for the next 18 minutes for a total of 20 possible searching minutes. At that point the search timed out and needed to be restarted. Note: this meant it was always faster to keep waiting than it was to restart your search within that 20 minutes, because every time you restarted your search, you’d have to re-expand over 2 minutes.
    • In patch 2.5, the matchmaker starts out with the expansion set to be as big or small as needed using real time data on the players in the matchmaking pool. This new system aims to guarantee every player finds a match within a reasonable amount of time, and well within the 20-minute timeout period. We are hoping to get it closer to 3-5 minutes at maximum. Overall, this means you’ll find fairer matches at a faster rate.
  • Ranked gains, particularly in high-rank games, should now be more consistent. This change also fixes an issue where players could “catapult” from Master to Challenger by manipulating VP gains.

WILD PASS

A new season for Wild Pass begins with the start of Patch 2.5. The additions are as follows:

  • Upgraded the Wild Pass UI to make it easier to see which rewards you’ll earn next.
  • With the free version of the Wild Pass, players will earn a reward at every level up to 50.
  • Purchasing a Basic or Elite Pass gives you access to seasonal missions to help power up your progress, and more content beyond level 50. These seasonal missions were previously only accessible to Elite Pass players, so Elite Pass players will now gain the Wild Pass Boost, which grants more XP for each mission and sets you on the fast track to maxing out your rewards.
  • Added profile borders as a brand new reward type.
  • Earn Hexplorer Tristana for reaching Level 50 on the Premium or Elite Pass.

TWITCH STREAMING

Added a new feature to make it easier to stream directly to Twitch. Use the button in the “Settings > Other” menu to head directly to the Twitch app and start broadcasting with the in-game overlay!

POSITION PREFERENCE

Position preference has been added to unranked PvP games! Before you get into a match, order your preferred positions (solo, jungle, mid, duo, support) from most to least preferred. From there, matchmaking will prioritize one of your top positions most of the time. It’s still possible to get any position, but you’ll have more control over your preferences, even if you don’t get your top choice. Unranked PvP matches will remain simultaneous blind pick, and will not feature champion bans.

ARAM CHANGES

LOLWR_Patch25_ARAM.jpg

SCRYER’S BLOOMS

Scryer’s Blooms now appear on the Howling Abyss to scout enemies and units in the lane bushes!

CANNON MINIONS

Because of the above change, cannon minions no longer grant true sight of invisible units and traps. For Wild Rift, we felt cannon minion vision was suboptimal overall, so the new vision system means you can use the Scryer’s Blooms to scout out traps, instead of escorting a cannon minion all the way up the lane.

GAMEPLAY CHANGES

A. SYSTEMS

1. ALLY BUFFS

To prevent miscasts, abilities that buff allies can no longer target clones. These include:

  • Annie: (3) Molten Shield
  • Soraka: (2) Astral Infusion
  • Janna: (3) Eye of the Storm
  • Lulu: (3) Help, Pix!

2. GRACEFUL CHARITY

  • Bonus passive gold starting time: 5:00 → 4:00
  • Bonus gold per second: 1G → 2G

3. SUMMONER SPELL: FLASH

  • Flashing during a ‘skillshot’ dash completely cancels the ability and its effects → Flashing during a ‘skillshot’ dash applies the dash’s damage or effects at the flashed location

B. ITEMS

1. TIER 3 ITEMS

  • Players cannot purchase multiple copies of the same Tier 3 item.

2. ENERGIZED ITEMS

  • Kircheis Shard, Rapid Firecannon, Stormrazor
    • Energized Attack’s bonus magic damage now stacks with other Energized item passives
  • Statikk Shiv
    • Energized Attack’s bonus magic damage now stacks with other Energized item passives
    • Clarified that Statikk Shiv’s individual portion of an Energized attack’s bonus magic damage can critically strike

3. PROTOBELT ENCHANT

  • Using Protobelt Enchant during a dash will now queue the effect to occur after the dash finishes

C. JUNGLE

SMITE

  • [NEW] Having Smite equipped grants 20% extra gold from monsters
  • Minion Gold/XP penalty: -20% → -25%

COMMUNICATIONS AND SOCIAL

  • Ping, chat, and emotes now all share the same spamming cooldown
  • Increased the activation area for the emote wheel
  • Revival effects and Zhonya’s Enchant now have a countdown bar only visible to allies
  • The in-game text chat has been slightly widened
  • Added the ability for players to share a unique URL to invite friends to join Wild Rift and add them as a friend in game

CONTROLS

  • For melee champions, tapping the attack button has increased sensitivity to choosing enemy champions outside of your melee attack’s range. This change will mean that melee champions will need to rely on the minion button more often to farm in lane. We’ll be keeping an eye on your feedback around this change and will offer a setting if enough players feel like it is hard to adapt, but we expect this tuning to resolve more issues that it creates as it will make it way less likely for a melee champion to randomly attack a passerby minion while chasing down an enemy.
  • While the ‘Dash in Move Direction’ setting is on, tap casting a dashing ability without a move stick input now dashes at targets instead of the direction that the player’s champion is facing.
  • We’ve done some general tuning to make accidental drags when furiously tapping the attack button less likely to occur.
  • We’ve increased the maximum size of an ability button to help players drag-aim on longer range abilities and have a wider range of tuning for drag sensitivity.
  • Added touch feedback for store and other areas for Android and iOS.

STORE

  • Added a yellow dot for the Store, which will now appear whenever new content is available
  • Players are now granted a one-time opportunity to select from 1 of 5 skins after they purchase Wild Cores (of any amount) for the first time after Patch 2.5

EXTRA BITS

  • Upgraded the visuals of the social share screens
  • Thresh’s model and splash have been updated to more closely match his visuals in Thresh Unbound: A Night at the Inn
  • Optimised patches on Android to reduce the size of downloads after updating to a new version
  • Updated flow for new players, with specific new-player-related missions
  • Made adjustments to the second tutorial, adding Target Lock and info about jungling so new players learn more about Wild Rift earlier in their first few games

FREE-TO-PLAY CHAMPION ROTATION

  • Oct 14 – Oct 20: Ahri, Draven, Jarvan IV, Renekton, Rengar, Riven, Senna, Sona, Xayah, Yasuo
  • Oct 21 – Oct 27: Camille, Kha’Zix, Lee Sin, Lucian, Nami, Orianna, Singed, Thresh, Vayne, Ziggs

Wild Rift – Check the upgrades coming to the Wild Pass Season 3

The new patch 2.5 updates are coming with the new wild pass season 3 where you can start completing missions and earn rewards. To make this season exciting and the best, the developers have made a couple of adjustments in the wild pass. The Wild Pass UI has been upgraded to make it easier to see which rewards you’ll earn next. With the free version of the Wild Pass, players will earn a reward at every level up to 50.

However, purchasing a Basic or Elite Pass gives you access to seasonal missions to help power up your progress, and more content beyond level 50. These seasonal missions were previously only accessible to Elite Pass players, so Elite Pass players will now gain the Wild Pass Boost, which grants more XP for each mission and sets you on the fast track to maxing out your rewards. Here’s what it looks like when the Boost is active!

Profile borders have also been added as the new reward type. Besides this, the players can earn an exclusive skin by reaching level 50 on the premium pass.

TWITCH STREAMING

The developers have added a new feature to make it easier to stream directly to Twitch for the players. All you need to do, Use the button in the “Settings > Other” menu to head directly to the Twitch app and start broadcasting with the in-game overlay.

POSITION PREFERENCE

Another feature has been added in the patch 2.5 update, Position preference has been added to unranked PvP games!

Call of Duty: Warzone is getting an Anti-Cheat system soon

0

In an effort to combat rampant cheating issues in the PC version of Call of Duty: Warzone, Activision recently announced an anti-cheat that works at kernel-level similar to that of Riot Vanguard, the anti-cheat system for Valorant.

Activision states that Ricochet’s “backend anti-cheat security features will launch alongside Call of Duty: Vanguard” while its kernel-level driver will release with Warzone’s Pacific update. “The driver element of the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system will check the software and applications that attempt to interact and manipulate Call of Duty: Warzone, providing the overall security team more data to bolster security.”

Unlike Riot Vanguard, the kernel-level driver will only run when players launch either Warzone or CoD: Vanguard, and will promptly turn off as soon as the game shuts down. Activision also encourages players to report suspicious activity which will provide a great deal of help thanks to the use of Machine Learning that will identify and adapt to deal with hackers and cheaters.

But things are already going awry for Activision as the anti-cheat drivers have been leaked to hackers. This has been confirmed by multiple anonymous sources who state that the anti-cheat is “nothing special” as is it already being reverse-engineered by cheat developers.

Although it could be possible that the anti-cheat has been leaked intentionally in order to test any or all vulnerabilities before it is rolled out to the general public. The leaked build could also be a fake-out to waste hackers’ time while the final release might end up being something entirely different.

Either way, we’ll be seeing the end result when Call of Duty: Vanguard launches on November 5, 2021.

G2 Survive versus Lynn Vision After Losing First Map

G2 knocked Asian side Lynn Vision out of BLAST Fall Showdown, surviving a shock loss in the first map which had them stranded.

Lynn vision is currently the 3rd best Chinese side, behind Tyloo and ViCi Gaming. They qualified for BLAST Fall Showdown from the Chinese Qualifier, ahead of ViCi Gaming.

All the odds were in G2’s favor coming into the game, as is expected. G2 are ranked number #5 in the world while Lynn Vision is currently #117 in the world.

But the Asians weren’t to be taken lightly as they took the series to the whole 3 maps, winning their pick of vertigo. G2 need to take great care of their map pool, with the Major being less than 2 weeks away.

They subsequently lost both maps convincingly but they showed that they would be a force to be reckoned with in the future, and have great upset potential.

The 16-14 win was fueled by an insane 1v5 from Starry to kick off the T pistol from his side. He killed 4 members of G2 with the Glock, before knifing ‘nexa’ for the last kill with 0.02 seconds left on the defuse.

There wasn’t much to write home about in the two maps that followed, as G2 seemed reinvigorated after the first map upset. They came back strong with 9 CT rounds on inferno and a good T side which needed just 7 rounds for them to take the win.

Nuke was, even more, one-sided as G2 won the first 11 rounds of the CT side, and finished the first half at 13-2. They struggled a bit on the T side but an 11 round cushion was more than enough for them to close the map.

NiKo stood out with 70 kills and 54 deaths in the series.

Lynn Vision are now eliminated while G2 play the winner of EG/Mad Lions on Saturday.

Gla1ve Back in Astralis Active Line-up for PGL Major

Veteran In-game leader and four-time Major winner, Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander will be back in the starting lineup for Astralis for the PGL Stockholm Major later this month, the team announced via Twitter. Gla1ve has been on the sidelines since September 8th, opting out of Blast Fall Groups as well as the IEM Fall RMR.

After the birth of his son, Milas, 4 days ago it seems that he’s raring to go already and will be back for the most prestigious event in CSGO in 2 years.

In his absence ‘Bubzkji’ and ‘xyp9x’ have held their own comfort and have been solid for the team, finishing in the top 4 at IEM Fall and qualifying for BLAST Fall Finals as well.

The only difference from the squad that won the StarLadder Berlin Major will be the absence of Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz and the addition of Philip ‘Lucky’ Ewald. This will be the first Major for ‘Lucky’ and he’s surrounded by legends of the game to help him through it.

On the exclusion of Bubzkji, the Director of Sports at Astralis said “It is never easy to take a player out of the starting line-up and with Lucas, it can seem a bit unfair as, no matter the circumstances, he has been a true professional and always delivered his best on and off the server. Danny and I have had a good talk with Lucas about the decision. He is disappointed, but he also knows he is a big part of the team, and he will give his best to help out.”

More about his statement can be read here.

With this move, the lineup for Astralis at PGL Stockholm will be:

  • Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander
  • Peter ‘dupreeh’ Rasmussen
  • Emil ‘Magisk’ Reif
  • Andreas ‘xyp9x’ Højsleth
  • Philip ‘Lucky’ Ewald
  • Danny ‘zonic’ Sorensen (Coach)
  • Lucas ‘Bubzkji’ Andersen (Reserve)

Fallout 3 No Longer Requires Games for Windows Live

0

Games for Windows Live (GFWL) was one of Microsoft’s earliest attempts to bring Xbox to PC, however, the service was discontinued in 2014 as it simply proved itself to be more of a hindrance due to multiple issues such as a buggy storefront, Xbox Live Gold subscription fee to play online and pure negligence on Microsoft’s part.

While GFWL didn’t have too many titles under its belt, only less than half of their games (BioShock, Batman: Arkham, etc.) migrated to Steamworks after its closure, even though most of these games were already available to purchase on Steam. Even Rockstar had to shift Grand Theft Auto IV and its expansion, Episodes from Liberty City to Steamworks last year as they were unable to generate more keys for the platform, forcing them to patch GFWL out of the game entirely, which also resulted in the game’s multiplayer mode being unplayable.

And now Bethesda has done the same by removing GFWL from Fallout 3, which seems a bit ironic given that the company is now owned by Microsoft. Fallout 3’s patch notes for the 1.7.0.4 update states that the game “ no longer installs Games for Windows Live dependencies. If Fallout 3 was previously installed on Steam, we suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the title. The title no longer requires Games for Windows Live and will now launch.”

This comes as a great surprise as Fallout 3 is now officially playable on Linux through Proton, without modifying the game’s files.

Arsenal Owner eyes entry into Valorant Esports

0

Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE), an American holding company, is reportedly looking to enter Valorant Esports next year. This company was founded by Stan Kroenke who is widely known for his ownership of English Premier League club Arsenal F.C.

Valorant Esports has grown wildly in the last couple of years with big tournaments lined up for the future. This new FPS title by Riot Games has seen many pros from CSGO transition to Valorant and almost all well known organizations have picked up power-packed rosters to compete in future Valorant tournaments.

According to a report by Upcomer, Stan Kroenke and his company is eyeing an entry in Valorant Esports very soon. This team will be based out of Los Angeles and KSE has already hired their first player.

Michael ‘neT’ Bernet will reportedly be the first player on the Valorant roster of KSE. He has played in some squads but not made any notable debut yet. Other players on this roster remain a mystery for now.

KSE currently owns two esports teams, both of them playing in a franchised tournament format. KSE owns LA Gladiators in Overwatch League and LA Guerillas in COD League. This will be their third esports roster but they won’t be able to participate in franchised tournaments yet.

Tournament franchising and league formatted events are yet to take place for Valorant and apart from Riot Game’s main title League of Legends, NA region does not have any franchised tournament yet. Riot Games might set up a similar kind of structure for Valorant as well but the details remain vague for now.

Valve Dev Asks CSGO Players for Demos to Investigate Ancient Water Bug

Valve isn’t known for being very active with their community, especially when it comes to their First-person shooter, CS:GO. But that hasn’t been the case as John Mcdonald from Valve asked players to report Boosting lobbies and boosted profiles earlier this year, which did result in a massive ban wave.

Today, that was followed by a post on the r/globaloffensive subreddit by DanB, who’s also a Valve employee. In the post, he addresses the Water Bug that has been wreaking havoc on the newest map, Ancient ever since it came into rotation.

He said Valve was investigating the water bug and asked the players to submit demos with timestamps/round numbers where they experienced the bug, which allowed players to hear footsteps across the map.

Players were quick to point out that it wasn’t just Ancient where the bug was prevalent on, but other maps with water too such as Overpass (B short) or Inferno (B site fountain).

This proves that Valve is taking a more active role in the community and that they are keen to fix the bug before the Major arrives, to make it more convenient for the teams and fans alike.

Wild Rift 2.5 Patch: New Champs, Guild System and more

0

Riot Games is pushing yet another big patch to their mobile title League of Legends: Wild Rift. The developers recently released a teaser video for this patch and hinted towards what players can expect over the next few months. Three new champions along with some gameplay changes and a new feature were unveiled in this video.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is inching closer to its first release anniversary this month and the developers addressed this fact and stated that many things have changed in the past year. A short compilation of all the recent updates were included at the start of this introduction.

POSITION PREFERENCE IS COMING TO UNRANKED PVP IN WILD RIFT

New Champions

Riot Games is adding three new champions to Wild Rift in the patch 2.5 update. Veigar, Jayce and Caitlyn are going to be added to the game in next update. Veigar is an AP user with huge burst potential with good CC which makes the champion a suitable choice for mid or support lane.

Caitlyn will be added to the huge pool of marksmen in Wild Rift. This new champion will yet again diversify the meta with her unique abilities. Jayce is a baron lane champion with a hextech weapon which allows him to switch between a hammer and cannon.

Gameplay Changes

Riot Games has implemented two major changes to the Wild Rift gameplay mechanics. They have added a second Rift Herald that will spawn late in matches and delay the spawn timing of baron as well. This will prolong the initial fights while putting equal focus on both sides of the map.

The damage dealt and taken by rift heralds have been adjusted as well and junglers can now take the herald without team assistance due to new balance.

The second major change is to the match making system. Wild Rift matchmaking was considered as broken by many due to the skill gaps evident in each ranked match. The developers have apparently found a solution by employing a skill-based ranked matchmaking.

In this kind of matchmaking, players with high skill levels will be marked with an emblem and will match with higher tier players in their matches. A player with skillset above their rank will be matched with players multiple tiers above them and hence, this will inevitably provide a balanced experience for the player base.

The new battlepass will be introduced to Wild Rift in the patch 2.5 update. New skins and events are in the pipeline for this upcoming update.

Guild System

The developers will be adding a new feature to the game which will increase the community bonding between players. This feature will be quite similar to other clan systems seen in other games. Players belonging to same guilds can complete task and also compete with other guilds for bragging rights and extra perks.

Players can create a Guild after reaching level 9 and 400 Poro Coins or 200 Wild Cores can be used to do so. A Guild will have multiple levels of command and each one has its own perks.

The most interesting addition to this feature is the Guild vs Guild battles. Players will fight against other guilds in order to collect supplies in a given amount of time. Team with the largest number of points wins the battle.

Guild members need to play in groups and complete several community tasks to earn supply points. When the time starts to run out, guild with less points have a chance to sabotage their opponents by playing in groups of five and win games. The winning guild can defend against this sabotage by playing with their own group of five.

These are the massive changes coming to Wild Rift in the next patch. More details and patch notes will be revealed on a later date.
