BGMI: BGIS 2021 invited teams revealed

Battlegrounds Mobile India has revealed the invited teams that will be joining the participants from Round 2 qualifiers in the iQOO BGIS 2021 round 3 which is scheduled to start from 27th December. Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2021 is the first official esports event after the game got released exclusively for the players based in India. Two rounds of the BGIS 2021 are completed and we are into the third round of the event.

BGIS 2021 round 3 will feature 32 invited teams that will be competing with the 224 qualified teams from round 2. The qualified teams have made it through 1024 teams that competed in the online qualifiers. The top 512 teams from online qualifiers made it through round 2. The top 7 teams from each group proceeded to online qualifiers Round 3.

The 224 teams from online qualifiers round 2 along with the above-mentioned invited teams will be divided into 16 groups. Each group will have to play 3 matches each. In which the top 4 teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.

Where to Find The Launchpad in Fortnite?

Fortnite players have experienced The End and Chapter 3 is now underway. With the new Chapter, we have a brand new location known as The Launchpad which combines elements from the previous seasons.

The Launchpad is an unnamed location in Chapter 3 and you need to get to the location to progress the seasonal quest. If you are struggling to find the Launchpad, here is a quick guide on how to find the place and continue your Season Quest.

How to Find the Launchpad in Fortnite?

The first thing you need to do is complete the Week One Season Quest in Fortnite Chapter 3. You will need to complete the first challenge which requires you to track down a “device”. 

The quest is self-explanatory and you will need to follow a set of objectives on the map. Keep looking at your objectives and head to the locations marked for you to complete the first quest.

Once you complete the first quest, the Scientist will call the player for the second part of the Season Quest. This is where you need to head to the Launchpad. To reach the location, you need to head to the big island off the eastern coast of the current map. It is located around the southeast side of The Daily Bugle and north of the Joneses.

Once you reach the Launchpad, the Scientist will call you on the device from the previous challenge. This is where you will need to complete the second half of the second challenge for Week One. 

All you need to do is destroy three signal jammers in one game and you will be rewarded with 25,000 experience points and get access to the next challenge. Once you are done with everything, you will get the next objective at Might Monument.

With The Rock and Spiderman being added to the game, Fortnite Chapter 3 is shaping up to be quite fun. Quests in upcoming weeks will reveal more about the Scientist and his motives.

Another indie game that has won multiple awards across different categories. Disco Elysium is a role-playing murder mystery detective game. The game is developed and published by ZA/UM and was first released in October 2019. 

You start the game as an anaemic detective who wakes up from a pretty bad hangover after a night of heavy drinking. The game makes you reflect on the life of an alcoholic detective who is in constant turmoil about his self-worth as his mind constantly berates his smell, hideous looks, and tragic history. The game has a very interesting story and features a very unique skill system. 

The game is currently available at a discount of 55% for $17.99 (Rs 404) on Steam. 

No Man’s Sky

Once the most hated game on planet has turned around has become a very loved title. Back in 2016, the game launched in rough shape. Developers over promised and under delivered. But 5 years after its launch, the game has turned around and has almost everything feature that developers promised and various addon features.

The game is about space exploration where we get to visit various randomly generated and curated planets. The game is developed and pubnlished by Hello Games and has same price since 2016, but with loads of additional content avavilbe for free. 

The game is currently available at a discount of 50% for $29.99 (Rs 899) on Steam. 

Deathloop

Deathloop is a next-gen FPS game published by Bethesda Games and developed Dishonored fame Arkane Studios. 

The game is about 2 rival assassins stuck on the island of Blackreef. Both the assassins are stuck in an indefinite timeloop doomed to repeat the same day for eternity. 

You’ll experience the main story as Colt, hunting down eight key targets across the island of Blackreef to break the loop and earn your freedom. All the while, you’ll be hunted by your rival Julianna, who can be controlled by another player or AI. The game also offers a Coop experience where 2 players can play together and control the rival assassins.

Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy

Based on Marvel’s successful movie franchise, Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy is a wild ride across the space filled with chaos at every turn. The game features a solid story and a very good Official Sound Track. 

Similar to the movies, you play this third person action adventure game as Star Lord who is tasked to lead his crew of misfit oddballs characters. Like the original movie, you will cross paths with various powerful enemies and meet some unlikely allies.

Steam has been reportedly banned in China

Steam has been reportedly banned in China

Players in China are in uproar and shock as today they woke to find that the Chinese Government has reportedly banned the global version of Steam Storefront from its country. 

The reports first surfaced when several Chinese players made posts on the Chinese social media site complaining about not being able to log on to their steam accounts or open the official steam website. Players are reporting that almost all the features of the steam including community pages are also not opening at all.

Back in February 2021, Steam officially launched its China-only client with a much smaller collection of games on sale. Steam China only features select games that are approved to be released in China by the Chinese agencies. The China-only version of the site and client is still available in the country but nobody knows if it remain online or blocked soon. 

This doesn’t come as a surprise as the Chinese government is actively taking action against games and gaming companies for the past 12 months. From limiting game time for those under 18 to limiting the money players can spend per week on buying microtransactions in-game.  

In order for new games to be allowed in the country, developers had to remove several elements thought to be anti-Chinese, including the presence of “effeminate men”. It is also reported that in 2021 for two months no new games were approved or given license to operate. 

While the global version of steam is not available, Steam’s two most popular games – Dota 2 and CSGO are unaffected by this blockade as they both are also available on Steam China. While other games like Monster Hunter World, GTA Online, Destiny 2, etc are heavily affected by this blockade as they are not officially available in China and were only accessible through the global client.

Although there are multiple reports emerging which suggest this is a DNS attack and not a blanker ban, we will wait to hear from Valve on this soon.

Canadian CSGO caster Matthew ‘Sadokist’ Trivett took to twitter to vent his frustration on the recent CSGO drama. He took no names but made it clear how sick he was of people’s hypocrisy and gender bashing mentality and how they supposedly ‘play the victim’ behind the scenes.

Sadokist had been away from CSGO for most of 2020 but made a return to casting alongside Jason ‘moses’ O’Toole at the StarLadder CIS RMR 2021. He was also there at the PGL Stockholm Major and was welcomed with open arms by the community. Previously he had casted 2 Major Grand Finals and was a staple at the biggest CSGO events since 2014. 

Sadokist stressed on the point how esports as a whole was free from politics and propaganda as it was done solely ‘for the passion, the thrill, the competition, and for the love of gaming as a whole’.

This could very likely be a dig at Auguste ‘Semmler’ Massonat who shamed Ryan from Rush B Media for having pronouns in his bio. Until now esports had been free from politics and was focused on gaming alone, but the announcement of the ‘GGFORALL’ initiative has people resorting to using it as a way to further their political agendas and beliefs. 

He also said ‘You want to do good? Stop trying to lecture people on something you don’t actually understand or have the proper education on. Stop tearing down the walls for the sake of self worth. Use your brand to support charity/community, instead.’ pointing to the fact that people on twitter are quick to criticise instead of actually understanding the problem at hand, thus using their brand and influence for the wrong purposes. 

Sadokist also replied to a user saying he’s been part of the industry long enough to see the changes. He explained how politics was not as prevalent in the scene 5 years ago as it is today and he has called it out accordingly whenever need be.

  • Open your email client. 
  • Log in to the id that is associated with your Valorant account. 
  • Search for an email from Riot Games’ official account. The email should read, “[in-game name] – Your VALORANT Year in Review is Ready.”
  • If you can’t find it, look in your spam folder. 
  • If you haven’t received the email yet, there’s a chance that you’ll receive it within the next few days. 

The previous YR1 email had your stats which did feature the names of three opponents whom you have killed the most in your matches followed by the names of your Marquee Agent, weapon, and the map you’ve played the most.

The Counter Strike season is finally over for 2021, with the last event – BLAST Premier World Finals wrapping up just last week. The pro CSGO calendar is a very hectic one and an extended Christmas break is much needed for players and tournament organizers alike.

It gives the players more time to spend with their loved ones and focus on their mental health as well, with more and more players taking breaks as the pressure gets too much.

The off-season isn’t all boring as teams prepare for the next season and rebuild their rosters. Be it G2 and m0NESY, Evil Geniuses and Stewie2k or FaZe Clan and ropz, a lot of them will be looking forward to making changes and preparing for the next season.

Stalwart Esports becomes the only team from the SA region to qualify for PMGC 2021 finals

The PMGC 2021 East league finals ended with the top nine teams qualifying for the grand finals. The league finals were held for 3 days where 16 teams were competing for the ticket to the grand finals and a $1,255,000 USD prize pool. Stalwart Esports finished in the top three spots after completion of the league finals and became the only team from the South Asia region to qualify for the next round.

The league stage commenced with three South Asian teams competing with the best teams from SEA, Mena, and China but could not convert the opportunity in their favor. Stalwart Esports and Deadeyes Guys qualified through MENA and South Asia Championship Season 1 whereas DRS Gaming qualified through PMGC qualification points.

Deadeyes Guys got eliminated in the league stage while the rest two teams made it through the league finals. While DRS Gaming got eliminated in the league finals. Stalwart Esports had a great run on the league stage and continued a similar performance in the league finals. The team finished at the third spot in both the league stage and finals. Thus becoming the only team from the South Asia region to qualify for the PMGC 2021 grand finals.

15 teams qualified for the grand finals

The top nine teams from the east and the top six from the west qualified for the PMGC 2021 grand finals. Here is the list of teams that will be competing from January 21st, 2021.
