Teams had little over a month after The International 10 (TI10) ended in the middle of October 2021 to confirm their new lineups for the upcoming season of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC). Changes within teams happened relatively quickly this time around due to the shorter time span, as contrast to past years when teams were given a few months to decide their alternatives.
Furthermore, such a massive shuffle happened after a long period, and many of the adjustments were pretty intriguing. However, there are a handful of Dota 2 players, such as Aliwi “w33” Omar, who did not make any of the teams for unclear reasons. The most popular ones from this category who have not been seen in action in the first half of the DPC 2021-22 Tour 1 are listed below.
The DPC 2021-22 Tour 1 W33 will not feature any top Dota 2 players.
W33, who had mainly been absent from all types of Dota 2 teams since April 2021, was widely reported to be returning to a Division 1 team in the weeks preceding up to the commencement of the DPC 2021-22. Following the conclusion of TI10, he began playing a lot of pubs, thus this storey sounded believable.
The DPC 2021-22 roster lock deadline approached, however the two-time TI finalist was not on any of the teams.
Since April 2021, W33 has been a member of Nigma Galaxy’s inactive roster. In the first few series of the DPC Western Europe, however, Nigma Galaxy did not employ him as a substitute, even when it required one; instead, the squad chose to play with coach Roman “rmN-” Paley.
W33 has spent the most of his professional Dota 2 career in Division 1 of the WEU region. This category is currently home to some of the top midlaners on the planet. As a result, unless he chooses to cease participating freely, returning to this region will be a difficult struggle.
Saksa
During his 20-month stay with OG, Martin “Saksa” Sazdov established himself as one of the most trustworthy position four players. Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, Topias Miikka “Topson” Taavitsainen, and Sébastien “Ceb” Debs opted to take a vacation or retire after TI10. Saksa and Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan also left during the process, and while SumaiL joined Team Secret, Saksa was left without a team for the DPC 2021-22.
Like w33, Saksa was rumored to be joining a Division 1 team. But as it turned out, that did not prove to be the case and the player continues to play pubs.
In the official OG announcement, Saksa and SumaiL were said to have left to pursue new opportunities, yet during one of his livestreams after leaving OG, Saksa revealed that he did not leave OG. The reason for this change is still unknown.
Sccc
Song “Sccc” Chun, a popular Chinese player in the West, has stayed gone from professional Dota 2 for a long time. SCCC did not participate for EHOME in 2021, having last competed in December 2020.
Throughout the year of 2021, the midlaner, who has also played as a carry, has adopted a unique approach by broadcasting a lot on Huya, a Chinese livestreaming site. Sccc performs at a number of bars and is one of China’s most popular livestreams. During the previous Chinese DPC season, the player was invited to serve as a guest commentator, and he has been sharing his perspective in the form of analysis and commentary.
EHOME declared that it “recognised” the player’s “wishes and personal development requirements” when he departed the team. This, combined with Sccc’s livestreaming success, might potentially keep him away from competitive Dota 2 for even longer.
save-
Vitalie “Save-” Melnic, the youngest player on the list in 2021, made a name for himself soon. Save- joined Virtus.pro on trial in 2020 and went on to become its captain, leading a team of outstanding young players.
The squad demolished one opponent after another in the two regional leagues at the DPC 2021, not losing a single series out of the 28 games it played. While the team’s performance at the LAN Majors suffered due to a lack of a coach and pressure concerns, it fared well at TI10, finishing fifth to sixth.
Despite the fact that the future seemed bright for a group as young as this one, it chose to alter. Save- was put to the inactive roster as a result of the team’s internal troubles, while Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko joined Evil Geniuses.
Save- currently broadcasts on Twitch and, like many of his former Virtus.pro colleagues, frequents pubs on a daily basis. Save- is still in the early stages of his professional career, but with his potential as a captain and as a position four player, he should be back soon.
Some of the best players in Dota 2 have lately willingly retired from competitive competition. Ceb is one of them, having retired, while Topson and N0tail have taken time off. Another noteworthy player, Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao, said that he, too, would be taking a hiatus after TI10 since he felt he wasn’t playing as well as he would want.
Xu “fy” Linsen, one of the most popular Dota 2 players in the world, is not a member of any team in the DPC 2021-22. Following his departure from Elephant, he announced on Weibo that he was taking a hiatus, stating that he would relax for a bit to allow his body recuperate.
