xQc blasts hot tub streamers

xQc calls for action from Twitch for the recent rise in the number of “hot tub” streamers, calling it a “meta” as well as the “most pathetic thing” he has ever seen on Twitch.

Twitch’s policy on attire has given rise to a sweet grey area that is getting exploited by streamers in suggestive clothing. In the past few months, the Amazon owned streaming platform has seen an enormous rise in the number of such streamers. Most of them can be found in the “Just Chatting” section, reading chats in swimsuits and racking up an incredible number of viewers.

“IM GONNA BE HONNEST, THIS HOT TUB META IS BY FAR THE MOST PATHETIC THING WE’VE SEEN ON TWITCH IN FOREVER. WHAT A SAD REALITY. PLEASE GET THIS TRASH OFF THE FRONTPAGE” said xQc, showing his disgust for the fresh trend.

The former Overwatch pro-turned streamer isn’t the first to find it inappropriate for the Twitch culture, streamers like Asmongold and MsBananas have expressed similar take on the topic. Since these streamers play by the rules put in place by Twitch, according to them they aren’t doing anything wrong.

A case can be made against these streamers but then again it will spark a debate that is less likely to yield a proper conclusion. Twitch was initially made to promote video game streams but its front page is filled with nothing but “hot tub” streamers which explains the frustration of gamers who feel the platform gets saturated with all sorts of content.

Twitch establishing a concrete ToS and eliminating any existing grey area for anyone to exploit will most likely bring closure to this.
