Overwatch is arguably one of the most popular competitive FPS games in the world, and now it is getting a mobile version or so do the leaks suggest. While there is little information at hand, here is everything we know about Overwatch Mobile.
The rumour mill suggests that Blizzard has partnered with Nexon to handle publishing duties in Korea and Japan. Nexon ultimately secured the rights, despite competition from other major publishers.
Internally known as “Overwatch 3,” the project is more than just a mobile version of Overwatch 2. The moniker “Overwatch 3” could be more of a codename for development than a final branding decision. The mobile game has changed its gameplay to become a stand-alone product that will be a MOBA instead of an FPS.
There is no official release date set. However, some insiders predict that the game could be announced at a later BlizzCon, perhaps in late 2025 or 2026. The move to mobile and the MOBA format suggests Blizzard’s efforts to broaden the Overwatch franchise and reach new markets outside of its usual FPS fan base.
A formal release date has not been announced, but according to some insiders, the game will not be ready before the end of 2025 or early 2026. Many fans are struggling to accept that a mobile game named Overwatch will be a MOBA instead of an FPS. Unless the developers deliver a strong launch, backlash seems inevitable.
