Steam has once again managed to surpass itself, shattering its previous records and hitting a concurrent active player count of 24 million across the platform.

Previously, we had seen Steam setting a record number of concurrent players in March 2020, towards the beginning phases of the worldwide lockdowns.

As revealed by the Steam Stats page, the platform has surpassed the 24 million concurrent player count twice within a span of 24 hours on December 12th and 13th respectively.

This sudden rise in player counts can be due to the release of the highly anticipated video game title Cyberpunk 2077 on December 10th. The action RPG has managed to reach the top of the Steam charts in only a few hours of its release with a concurrent player count of over 1 million.

Cyberpunk is trailed by Valve titles like CSGO and DOTA 2, both of which can be seen rocking steady player counts from 500,000 to 1,000,000 concurrent players at any time of the day.

InnerSloth’s murder-mystery title Among Us has also been one of the main attractions in the Steam store for the past few months. The game managed to gain a surge in popularity this year after it was picked up by several popular streamers and content creators.
