Rainbow Six Siege reaches 70 million players

Released in 2015, Rainbow Six Siege is in its 6th year of development, and since then the game has registered more than 70 million players across Xbox, Playstation, and PC platforms.

Last year in February, Ubisoft had reported more than 50 million users in their Q3 earnings for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. This year due to Covid-19 restrictions worldwide the game saw a huge boost in its player numbers and was able to register more than 20 million players in 2020. In their Q3 earnings for the 2020-2021 fiscal year, Ubisoft reported this impressive record for its popular tactical shooter game.

In July last year, the company had reported more than 60 million registered Rainbow Six Siege players. Ubisoft celebrated the 60 million mark with a “Thank You” video directed towards the entire Siege community. And with the Year 6 reveal coming soon, players and fans can expect another “Thank You” video or a special event by the developers.

Other key highlights of the report were,

  • Ubisoft became the #1 publisher by unit sales on all platforms combined in 2020.
  • Ubisoft had a record number of unique players in the quarter.
  • Record revenue for AC franchise due to AC: Valhalla.
  • Just Dance 2021 was the #8 best seller on Switch.

Speaking about the company’s achievements, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said:

Our strategy continues to bear fruits

We achieved the strongest quarter in Ubisoft’s history, by far, thanks to the quality of our releases and the depth of our catalog. We are immensely proud of our teams who, in exceptionally challenging times, launched four great titles across multiple platforms and simultaneously continued to enrich our Live services. This is an unparalleled achievement and they showed remarkable adaptability and resilience. Our ability to execute at such a high level of quality demonstrates the power of our production model and the sustainability of our organization.
