PUBG Corporation recently severed its ties with Tencent Games and fully acquired the PUBG Mobile publishing rights in India. According to some reports, the company is looking for an Indian partner to publish and manage the game for Indian region exclusively and amidst all this, rumors were flying that PUBG Corporation is looking to partner up with Jio but nothing of such sort is confirmed yet.

PUBG Mobile was banned by IT ministry of India along with 117 other Chinese apps as they were “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defense of India and security of state and public order.”

After the ban, its impact on Indian audience was visible and there was a big question what would PUBG Mobile officials do to tackle this situation. A ray of hope for the game’s fans was visible when PUBG Corporation announced that they revoked Tencent’s publishing rights in India and fully assumed the control.

While this move may not directly suggest that the game will be banned as there are several other factors related to this game, most important one being user privacy. Even with tweaked privacy policy by PUBG Mobile that stated the data was hosted locally, the game could not evade the ban-hammer in the past. PUBG Corporation is working towards a possible solution to uplift this ban and considering the past issues, giving publishing rights to any Indian firm would be a plausible solution.

While the Jio and PUBG Corporation partnership is just a rumor for the time being, nothing can be speculated. The development, publishing and content moderation along with the game’s esports side is a very big task to handle for any firm and such big titans are less in number in India.
