According to the intel gathered by HLTV.org, Valve is observing proposals submitted by different event organizers to have the next CSGO major conducted in January 2017, dates of which are tentative yet.
Fragmented to the general pattern followed by Valve from past years, this year we will not be able to experience any further CSGO major.  After DreamHack Winters in 2013, this is the first time when Valve has concluded the year with less than 3 majors, 2014 and 2015 both witnessed 3 majors each with DreamHack getting their share of the event in every year, surprisingly DreamHack will be left long-faced for the year 2016.

The seven-month gap between the majors is definitely not unique but unexpected as the community expected another major in October this year.
Also the matter of the fact, this is the first time when a single team has been the champions of the majors all throughout the year, compendious to that, SK Gaming winning two consecutive majors this year MLG Columbus 2016 followed by ESL One Cologne 2016. The tenth major will be scheduled in the month of January next year.
