Bangalore based Mobile Gaming Startup Mech Mocha founded by Arpita Kapoor and Mohit Rangaraju has been acquired by Flipkart for an undisclosed amount to strengthen their gaming strategy.

Mech Mocha runs India’s first live social gaming platform, namely Hello Play; backed by the support of renowned venture capitalists in Accel Partners, Shunwei Capital, and Blume Ventures. The acquisition of their IP means Mech Mocha’s gaming team will also join the Wallmart owned e-commerce website as the company intends to take their GameZone to new heights.

Arpita Kapoor, Co-Founder & CEO, Mech Mocha, said, “With Vocal for Local being the focus for digital apps across the nation, this strategic backing of Flipkart provides us an opportunity to be part of a larger ecosystem that helps us create unique social gaming experiences for Indian users.

We look forward to being a part of the Flipkart ecosystem and leveraging the Flipkart Cloud Platform, Super Coins, Reward store and Flipkart Ads platform to strengthen the platform for our users.”

Prakash Sikaria, Vice-President, Flipkart, said, “At Flipkart, we are focused on providing consumers with an opportunity to access great products and content while giving them an engaging experience. We see many first-time e-commerce users come online through formats such as video and games, as they build familiarity with the medium.”

Flipkart has identified the growth of mobile games in India in recent times and has taken this route to build a strong connection with their customers as well as to bring friends and family together through the wide array of classic Indian games such as Ludo and Carrom that Mech Mocha offers.
