“If you’re a gamer, Windows 11 is made for you”

Microsoft showed the world glimpse of Windows 11 on Thursday’s virtual event. The newest operating system has new features appealing to the gamers as the company says, which is already readily available on its gaming console Xbox. Over the course of 45 minutes, Microsoft unveiled a new UI, Windows Store changes, gaming upgrades, and a pitch to gamers.

The new OS will begin shipping this holiday season. Windows 11 will be a free upgrade for Windows 10 users as long as they conform to the minimum system requirements of the existing users.

Sarah Bond explained in a blogpost on Xbox on how the latest Microsoft offering is built for the gamers perfectly.

Windows 11 Gaming Features – Auto HDR, Direct Storage & the Xbox App

Auto HDR

  • Auto HDR automatically adds High Dynamic Range (HDR) enhancements to games built on DirectX 11 or higher that previously only leveraged Standard Dynamic Range (SDR)
  • HDR allows a supported game to render a much wider range of brightness values and colors, giving an extra sense of richness and depth to the image.

DirectStorage

High-performance NVMe SSD and the drivers, Windows 11 can soon load new games faster by forcing the game assets to directly load into GPU instead of CPU.

The New Xbox App on Windows 11

  • Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to download from the catalog of games the service offers,
  • they will also be able to stream titles via Xbox cloud gaming
  • Cross-play between consoles and PCs will also be available.

The features are quite immersive in nature as Microsoft has also announced free upgrades to Windows 11 for Windows 10 users. Although there are no release dates for Windows 11, it is expected to come by the end of this year.
