A fresh Grand Theft Auto leak has surfaced online, and this time it includes an expanded version of Liberty City alongside new views of the GTA 6 map. The files reportedly come from Rockstar’s GTA 5 source code, and fans are already asking whether the Liberty City content could resurface as GTA 6 DLC.
The leak hit forums and social media in the early hours of September 18. It follows a year already packed with GTA 6 leaks, from the Cyberleek gameplay clips in August to the original 2022 breach that first revealed Jason and Lucia to the public.
What’s Inside the Leaked Files
The material totals close to 200GB and appears to be sourced from GTA 5’s development files rather than GTA 6 itself. Leaker TJGM, who posted a breakdown on X, put the figure closer to 192GB and said the archive mixes two things: early GTA 6 map assets, likely level-of-detail (LOD) placeholder files rather than the finished map, and separate files from a Liberty City expansion that was originally built for GTA 5 and GTA Online before being shelved.
Screenshots from the leak show low-quality 3D renders of locations in Leonida, GTA 6’s fictional state. Reports point to an international airport, a sports stadium, docks, a cruise terminal, and downtown Vice City. The buildings in these renders are little more than blank rectangles, but players have already started matching them against footage from earlier leaks to work out where each location sits on the map. The screenshots are believed to date from 2020 to 2022, so the final in-game locations will likely look different by launch.
An Updated Liberty City Turns Up in the Files
The more talked-about part of the leak is the Liberty City content. According to TJGM, the files include a much larger version of the city than the one seen in GTA 4. This expanded Liberty City was reportedly built for a GTA Online map expansion at one point before Rockstar cut it. Because the assets never shipped, some fans are now speculating that Rockstar could reuse or rework them for a future GTA 6 DLC, though nothing in the leak confirms that plan.
TJGM described the scope of the expansion as “pretty massive” and pointed to a file labeled “new terrain” inside the archive, suggesting the city data goes beyond a simple reskin of old assets.
Other Content Found in the Leak
The leak isn’t limited to map data. It also reportedly contains vehicles that were cut from GTA 5, along with files tied to a scrapped story DLC built around Trevor Philips. Parts of that Trevor-focused content were said to have been repurposed years later for GTA Online’s Doomsday Heist, so this isn’t the first time unused Trevor material has been mentioned publicly.
Rockstar Has Stayed Silent
As of publication, Rockstar has not commented on the leak, and the studio is unlikely to. That pattern has held throughout 2026. In August, Rockstar called an earlier wave of Cyberleek gameplay leaks “heartbreaking” and said the footage did not reflect the finished game, but it stopped short of detailing what was accurate. Parent company Take-Two has instead leaned on legal action, filing subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord in August to try to identify the person or group behind the Cyberleek leaks, according to a report from Video Games Chronicle.
A Rough Stretch for GTA 6 Leaks
This is far from Rockstar’s first leak scare this year. The Cyberleek gameplay clips landed in August, just weeks before Rockstar’s own planned reveal. Before that, the original September 2022 breach put over 90 early development videos online, including the first public look at Lucia as a playable character. What This Means Ahead of Launch
GTA 6 is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so this leak lands roughly two months before launch. Nothing in the files confirms that Liberty City is coming to GTA 6 as DLC. The city assets appear to be leftovers from a cancelled GTA 5 project, not confirmed GTA 6 content, and Rockstar has given no indication of post-launch expansion plans. Fans hoping for a return to Liberty City will likely need to wait for an official announcement rather than treat this leak as confirmation.
