Fortnite First-Person Mode Coming in December

A First-Person Perspective for Fortnite Creators

In December, Fortnite will bring the long-awaited first-person camera mode. But this is not going full-scale first-person experience that fans have been craving.

Historically, Fortnite has been a game that boasted a third-person perspective and Epic Games refused all but the most obstinate of fans’ requests for it. Yes, players were permitted to change the angles of the cameras within the game settings, but true first-person mode has always been the missing link.

On the Fortnite Creator Portal, Epic Games has published a blog where it introduced its new First-Person Camera Mode device. Starting from December 11, creators will be able to incorporate this device into their Creative mode experiences, giving players a first-person perspective on custom-built islands.

It is worth noting that such a feature is exclusive to Fortnite Creative and will never make its way into the core Battle Royale or Zero Build. Meanwhile, Fortnite Chapter 6 arrives in December, so those wanting the old first-person Battle Royale experience must wait a bit longer.

For now, Epic Games is focusing on the creators of islands and UEFN users. Creators can submit their islands to the portal for content review starting from December 11 if they want access to the first-person mode.

The first-person mode is currently in beta and somewhat restricted. Most ranged weapons are playable in first-person mode, but dual-wielding will turn back to third-person.
