Koei Tecmo has released a free Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered demo, one week before the full game arrives. The demo is available to download now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam, ahead of the October 1, 2026 release date. On PS5, the demo does not require a PS Plus subscription.
Koei Tecmo and Omega Force confirmed the demo date during Tokyo Game Show 2026, alongside news of an online co-op update.

What the demo includes
The demo covers one stage. It features the Battle of Hulao Gate, an early Three Kingdoms battle that puts the Allied Forces against the army of Dong Zhuo. Koei Tecmo describes it as a special version of the battle.
Players can pick from six officers, two from each kingdom:

The Wei, Shu and Wu split matches the build shown at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The public version is the same demo that appeared at the show. According to a hands-on preview from Tokyo Game Show, the stage ends in a fight against Lu Bu.
The demo also includes difficulty settings. Two limits apply. Progress from the demo will not carry over to the full game, and parts of the demo may not match the final release.
How to play the demo on PS5 and other platforms
On PS5, open the PlayStation Store, search for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered and download the free demo from the game page. PS Plus Premium members also have the option to stream the demo from the cloud. Xbox players can find it on the Microsoft Store, Switch 2 owners on the Nintendo eShop, and PC players on the game’s Steam page.
The demo landed during a busy week for PS5 owners. Sony is currently running a PlayStation Store sale on more than 600 PS5 games, and some players have reported a Wallet Credit promotion on selected PS5 purchases. Gameplay changes in the remaster
The remaster brings back the full roster of more than 40 officers, with battlefields rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5. The core combat stays close to the 2001 release. Attacks, messages and cutscenes follow the original, but some systems come from Dynasty Warriors Origins: a reworked horse riding system, side step evasion, and a parry that triggers when a block is timed right as an enemy attack hits.
Co-op works differently at launch and after. Two players can play together through local split-screen on day one, and a free update adding online two-player play is planned for release by January 2027.
Release date, price and editions
The full game launches on October 1 for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are open at $39.99 and include Ziluan, the protagonist of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, as a bonus.

The Digital Deluxe Edition contents are listed above as announced by Koei Tecmo. There is no version for the original Switch. Koei Tecmo cancelled that version in June.
What Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered contains
The package combines two PS2 era releases. It is a modern revival of Dynasty Warriors 3 and Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends.
The original Dynasty Warriors 3 came out on PlayStation 2 in Japan on September 20, 2001 and in North America on November 26, 2001, with an Xbox version following in 2002. It was the first game in the series to include mechanics that later became standard, such as True Musou Attacks.
The Xtreme Legends content is included as well. That expansion added new stories for seven officers, including Lu Bu, Meng Huo and Yuan Shao, along with bodyguard customization, new weapons and four challenge modes.
