Following star players leaving the team, G2 Esports is on the verge of rebuilding, with rumors suggesting the organization is eyeing Alvaro ‘SunPayus’ Garcia to take over the AWPing duties from loanee Hades after the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
Having lost NiKo and m0NESY to Falcons, G2 suffered a major setback, calling for the organization to make shifts within the roster. With a star AWPer leaving, G2 looks towards a different approach with SunPayus, who is more of a system AWPer, unlike m0NESY, whose individual prowess would take over games. It goes without saying that this roster is getting built around the core of malbs, huNter, and HeavyGod.
The next name on the chopping board is CS:GO veteran and coach, Wiktor ‘TaZ‘ Wojtas. With a string of poor results with him as a coach, it was only a matter of time before TaZ was let go. Reports suggest that Heroic coach Eetu ‘sAw‘ Saha will take over the coaching duties from the Pole, a highly experienced coach known for building rosters.
To everyone’s surprise, G2’s rebuild doesn’t include them scouting an IGL at the moment, as critiques have been anything but kind to Janusz ‘Snax’ Pogorzelski. While the unavailability of an apex IGL can be the reason why he has been retained, it would not be too far to assume that he would be the next person heading out.
Both additions would be nothing but an upgrade for G2 from what they currently boast, and sAw’s signing indicates that he will be in charge of rebuilding the roster, so more changes are expected following the upcoming Major. As for SunPayus, averaging a 1.13 IR in 2025, his performances have gone under the radar due to unappealing results from his team, but he is undoubtedly capable of hanging with the best players out there.
