G2 Eliminates BIG From PGL Astana 2025

Despite their constant struggles, G2 Esports has managed to secure a 2-0 victory with TaZ as the stand-in. While G2 was not in good shape after losing m0NESY, huNter’s temporary absences took them to new lows, but having fought back after losing two matches, they are just a win away from making it to the PGL Astana playoffs.

Map 1: Dust 2; Pick: G2; Winner: G2

Having remained inseparable for the better part of the first half, G2 Esports managed to edge out a narrow lead to get an early advantage moving to their defense. With malbs hitting his shots across the map, BIG had little room to play with on their T side. With only 2 rounds to their name, G2 managed to pull in 6 rounds to their name to close the series with a 13-7 scoreline. Dropping 25 kills at an IR of 1.84 malbs led his team to an early lead in the series.

Map 2: Mirage; Pick: BIG; Winner: G2

A poor start for BIG on their offence saw G2 get 8 rounds to kick off the second map of the series. Continuing their momentum from the previous map, malbs on the A site was a tough nut for the Germans to crack, which led to him leading the charts once again on the defense. With 8 rounds to their name, G2 Esports started their offence where they went on to put up a perfect T side, as BIG failed to get a single round on the board. Dominating completely, G2 made sure they stayed alive in Astana thanks to another supreme performance by malbsMd.

BIG were far from favorites to make it to the playoffs, but given the drop in form from G2, they were the favorites coming into the series. While it’s sad to see them go, the G2 dream run continues as little by little they are finding their form despite playing without their star man in huNter. With one win between them and the playoffs, G2 are in a prime position to make a deep run unless they bomb out in the next match.
