100 Thieves Returns to Counter Strike With Rain

100 Thieves is coming back to Counter-Strike, and reports suggest that it is Håvard “rain” Nygaard who will be the first name to join the roster. The ambitious re-entry into competitive Counter-Strike from 100 Thieves was something no one would have expected, especially after dropping their CS:GO roster back in 2020.

While speculation suggested that Rain would join a more mature roster where he would continue to play at the highest level of the game, he has surprised the CS2 community by joining a team that is yet to settle on a lineup. These reports further highlight that rain has joined on the condition that the team secures a strong core.

Signing Rain as their first player, 100T has announced that they are not messing around anymore, and they intend to hit the ground running. The last iteration of the team had an Australian core, but they never matured into a title-winning side, however, their project this time around is to secure a team that hangs at the upper echelons of tier-1 CS.

While some may say that Rain is closing in on the twilight of his career, we must acknowledge the fact that he is one of the best players when it comes to high-pressure LAN matches. Decades worth of experience and a trophy cabinet short of nothing, Rain will bring the much-needed experience and, more often than not, the firepower required to push games over the line.

It is not quite clear what role will fall upon Rain, but given that he has revealed his dissatisfaction with passive roles, we might see him play in a high-impact position with a roster built around him.

Given the conditional signing, we might see 100 Thieves coming up with their full roster in the coming days, and with the intention to take on the big names, the team will be one to look out for.
