Chinese version of PUBG Mobile is world’s top-grossing mobile battle royale title

The Chinese version Player Unknown’s BattleGrounds mobile has become the highest-grossing battle royale game on mobile devices. The game earned a record $167 million in global revenue in July, a 748% increase from the $46 million gathered in July 2018.

Tencent’s May release of Game for Peace, the Chinese version of PUBG Mobile, attributes to this steep climb in revenue as this game brought Monetization to the popular shooter. PUBG Mobile’s total global revenue now sits at $860 million, beating Knives Out at $771 million and Fortnite with $725 million. Seeing these phenomena, many popular console titles are now looking at a future in mobile gaming. Call of Duty is a massively famous console game but now it is trying to make its name in the league of battle royale games for mobile. Pubg Mobile faces fierce competition from other battle royale games like Garena’s Free Fire and Epic Games’ Fortnite but somehow every time, Pubg Mobile emerges on top. What makes this game so unique is Tencent’s timely updates which keep on catering the mass audience with new elements and varieties to engage into. Gameplay improvements as well as the Global esports scene for Pubg mobile results in an ever-growing player base. Will we ever see another Mobile Game which will attain a similar standard of success or will this streak remain unbroken?
