As we stand only a few days away from the release of the Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 update, NetEase has finally shed light on The Hood, the next character to join the game’s ever-expanding roster.
The Hood is all set to join Marvel Rivals with the upcoming mid-season update. He will take on the Vanguard role and wreak havoc upon his enemies with his kit focused on dishing out heavy bursts of damage while also keeping himself alive with his shields.

Marvel Rivals The Hood Abilities
At the time of writing, NetEase hasn’t revealed The Hood’s full kit, but his reveal trailer gives us plenty of information about what abilities the newest Vanguard might have.
Here are all the abilities of The Hood in Marvel Rivals, as seen in his recent trailer:
- LMB: Shoots his twin pistols, increasing demonic energy as he deals damage.
Upon reaching 50% energy, his attack speed increases.
Upon reaching 100% demonic energy, he switches to demonic rifles that deal fast burst damage.
- RMB: Create a protective shield that negates incoming damage and CC.
- Q (Ultimate): Enters the Full Demon State and turns into a turret, firing massive, high-impact piercing rounds while radiating dark energy that grants bonus health to nearby teammates.
- SHIFT: Enter flight mode for a short duration. Upon ending this skill, it releases a demonic wave that deals AoE damage.
- E: Creates a barrier that reduces incoming fire. Enemies who walk through the barrier are briefly blinded.
Details on his team-up abilities and passives are still unknown at the time of writing.
Marvel Rivals The Hood Release Date
As mentioned earlier, The Hood will join the roster of playable characters in Marvel Rivals with the game’s Season 9.5 update.
The Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 update will hit the live servers on August 7, 2026, at around 9:00 AM UTC across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
NetEase has confirmed that the initial update size for the Season 9.5 patch will be much larger than usual, but the final game size is expected to be drastically reduced following this update.
