How to Change FOV in CSGO?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is undoubtedly one of the most popular modern-day competitive shooters out there that boasts a player count of millions per day. Originally released back in 2012, CSGO is still rocking an active esports scene that most other shooters can only hope to achieve.

The aspect that separates CSGO from most other tactical shooters is the fact that it allows players to customize their game to a great extent. CSGO players can use the in-game console to make a plethora of changes to their game ranging from simple visuals to core game mechanics.

There are plenty of uses for the developer console in CSGO. However, some specific changes, like hand changing, can also give you a competitive edge over your opponents.

Changing your Field of View (FOV) in CSGO is also a useful aspect that the players should know about. It can be used to freely switch between a range of FOV at will and gain an advantage over your opponents in combat.

How to change CSGO FOV?

Changing your FOV in CSGO is a surprisingly easy task to do. It barely takes any time and once you know the trick, you’re free to change your FOV at will while in a competitive game. Let’s take a look at the steps you need to follow in order to change your FOV in CSGO.

  • For starters, make sure you have the in-game developers console enabled. To do so, simply go to the settings, click on ‘Game Settings’ and check “Enable Developer Console”
  • Once done, you can open the console by pressing the tilde (~)key on your keyboard (if this doesn’t work, you can check the bind from settings)
  • Type in “viewmodel_fov x” where “x” is a number between 54 and 68.
  • Setting it to 54 will draw your character model nearer to your screen, while setting it to 68 will move it farther.
  • Select a number that you’re comfortable with, and press enter.

That’s all you need to know about how to change your FOV in CSGO. Most professional players are generally seen playing at higher FOVs, but in the end, it’s up to personal preference and self-satisfaction.
