GTA 6 Miami Beach marketing campaign negotiations have been approved by the Miami Beach City Commission in a narrow 4-3 vote on September 10, 2026. The decision authorizes the city to negotiate directly with Rockstar Games and marketing agency Amplify Marketing Inc. for a promotional push tied to Grand Theft Auto 6, which launches on November 19, 2026. If finalized, the campaign will run from October 15 through the end of the year and could bring GTA 6-branded beach chairs, umbrellas, and signage to Miami Beach.
Here’s what the approved plan covers, and why some local officials remain opposed.
GTA 6 Miami Beach Marketing Campaign
The Miami Beach City Commission voted 4-3 on September 10 to let the City Manager begin negotiations with Rockstar Games and Amplify Marketing Inc. The vote followed criticism from some commissioners over promoting a game built around gun violence, drugs, and illegal activity.
Under the proposal, Rockstar would pay the city 3 million dollars for the campaign. Commissioner Tanya Katzoff Bhatt stated during the meeting that the total benefit to the city would be “closer to 4 million dollars” once negotiations conclude. That higher figure does not currently appear in the written resolution, so the final number is not locked in yet.
Bhatt also defended the deal, saying the marketing would arrive in Miami Beach regardless of the city’s involvement. She noted the extra revenue could fund the currently unfunded Flamingo football field renovation project.
The campaign itself would stay understated. Ads would appear on beach chairs and umbrellas, using “Vice City” branding or the Roman numeral VI rather than the full Grand Theft Auto title.
Opposition to the GTA 6 Ad Campaign
The Miami Beach vote is only one part of a larger, more contested advertising push across Miami-Dade County. Earlier proposals for the wider county campaign included a “Welcome to Vice City” reception at Miami International Airport, branded Metromover trains, and manhole covers featuring Vice City logos.
That broader plan has not been approved. Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and County Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez have both pushed back, arguing that publicly promoting a game centered on crime, car theft, and violence against police sends the wrong message about the region.
A separate vote on proposed advertising banners in Downtown Miami is reportedly still pending, according to a Reddit post cited by Notebookcheck. That detail has not been independently confirmed through an official source.
GTA 6 Release Date and Campaign Timeline
Grand Theft Auto 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida, which explains the studio’s interest in advertising around Miami. The game releases on November 19, 2026, roughly a month after the Miami Beach campaign would begin.
Separately, freelance journalist Francisco Alvarado reported that Rockstar is close to finalizing a deal with Miami-Dade County to place a GTA 6 sign on the roof of the Kaseya Center. That report has not yet been confirmed through an official city or Rockstar statement.
The Miami Beach agreement still needs to be finalized through negotiation before any ads go up. Further votes on the wider Miami-Dade campaign are expected in the coming weeks.
