Rockstar Games has reportedly spent close to a million dollars on the massive “Welcome to Vice City” sign that it has put up in Miami as part of its extended marketing campaign for Grand Theft Auto 6.
For a game that has generated hype as we have never seen before, even without marketing, Rockstar’s choosing to put up a sign at the Kaseya Center, home to the Miami Heat, speaks to the grand scale of GTA 6’s release. The Kaseya Center is not cheap, and according to Miami Herald journalist Doug Hanks, the sign is burning a $975,000 hole in Rockstar’s pocket. Vice City is known to draw heavy inspiration from Miami, and to have this sign up there adds an interesting element to the marketing campaign.
How long will Rockstar keep the sign?
According to reports, the sign will stay up for almost a year or until the official closure of the Miami Heat’s season, with their final game scheduled for April 11, 2027. If there is some truth to it, then Rockstar plans to push its game at this grand scale even for months after its official release.
More GTA 6 marketing can be coming
For a game that took billions to develop, spending a few million on marketing isn’t totally out of proportion to its budget. Given the hype around the game, it can be argued that GTA 6 needs support from marketing, but Rockstar’s attempt to integrate it into areas outside gaming shows how they want to attract a larger audience to the game.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release on November 19, 2026, and as we reach the final steps before launch, the game will see a massive push from Rockstar’s marketing department, so do not be surprised if you see some extraordinary attempts to popularize the game ahead of launch.
