IEM Katowice breaches record viewership in 2020

20 years after, Counter-Strike continues to reach new heights. The latest record shattered is that of peak concurrent viewership. The IEM Katowice 2020 Grand Finals between Natus Vincere and G2 Esports broke the 1 million barrier, with peak viewership recorded at 1,001,625. In comparison, the Starladder Berlin Major 2019 only managed to reach around 837k peak viewership. The statistics have been extracted from Esports Charts, with numbers taken from Facebook, Twitch and Youtube in order to compile the data.

The Spodek arena might be empty but the Grand Finals are proving to be an unmatchable spectacle in terms of the numbers being produced. As leaks of Project A, Riot’s hyped incoming rival of CSGO, keep on coming, the legacy of the game that is Counter-Strike keep setting new milestones to target.
