Cloud9 add leaf to VALORANT lineup

0

Cloud9 on their Twitter have announced the signing of Nathan “leaf” Orf to their Valorant Blue team.

After representing Chaos Esports Club in 2020, the 17yo North American Prodigy has decided to transition his career to Riot’s Brand new tactical FPS Valorant. Cloud9 had earlier parted ways with Josh “Shinobi” Abastado after the former failed to qualify for Valorant’s first strike. This roster update saw Leaf trial out with the Valorant Blue men as he represented the organization at the JBL Quantum Cup, Cloud9 To The Skyes, and Nerd Street Gamers – Winter Championship as well.

Under Chaos, Leaf averaged with a 2.0 rating of 1.12 where he steered his side to clinch the DreamHack Masters Winter 2020 North America title where they breezed past through TeamOne in the BO5 Grand Finale. It was later revealed by Chaos about their exit from the CSGO division after the “Ongoing Corona Pandemic” hindered their ability to support the team.

Cloud9 Blue are yet to find their fifth who would go on to replace Tyson “TenZ” Ngo after the latter decided to take up content creation. Son “xeta” Seon-ho, ex-member of the Cloud9 Korean Valorant filled in the spot of TenZ despite the fact of playing from Korea with a massive network leap.

PUBG Mobile: PMGC Finals Peak Viewership crosses 3.7M mark

0

PUBG Mobile has reached a historic landmark in mobile esports industry. This esports title has managed to reach a peak viewership of almost 3.8 million in the first round of PUBG Mobile Global Championship Season 0 Grand Finals. This feat has been achieved after Tencent collaborated with Nimo TV to provide an in-game live streaming feature.

According to Esports Charts, the peak viewership for the first match of PMGC Season 0 Finals was 3,801,998. This is the highest watching ever for any PUBG Mobile Esports event till date and is almost doubled the value of previous landmark. PUBG Mobile was expected to make a big impact with this tournament but the scale is much larger than expected.

The tweet has mentioned that the viewership reached a total of 3.7M but the updated statstics on the website revealed that it actually breached the 3.8 Million mark. The snippet of the count is given below:

PUBG Mobile Global Championship or PMGC is the pinnacle of PUBG Mobile Esports and it is a gathering of elite teams from different regions who are fighting to grab the large amount of $700,000 and the bragging rights of the winning spot. To watch them fight, a large audience is bound to gather but the amount has surpassed every expectation.

The traditional viewership considered from a combination of YouTube and Facebook Gaming only reaches up to 860,000+ but the new mode of viewing through the game itself has been the game changer here. Nimo TV doesn’t show the actual viewership but measures it in their own metric named ‘Hotness’. The Liquipedia Editor, Memphiz, clarified this confusion and it was uncovered that the Esports Charts has an access to the API of in-game streaming service and hence, they claim that the numbers are accurate.

The influence of an in-game stream with partnership with popular streaming site has been very helpful for the PUBG Mobile as the viewership has grown exponentially after the implementation of this service. This milestone was reached on the very first day and it will be interesting to see if some records are broken in the upcoming matches or not.

PUBG Mobile: Ex Fnatic player InyoDream accuses teams of buying slots in Indian Tournaments

0

PUBG Mobile professional player Ujwal ‘InyoDream’ Chaudhari has accused unnamed teams of purchasing slots and the tournament organizers for selling such slots of Tier 1 Indian PUBG Mobile tournaments and scrims. This allegation is not related to official PUBG Mobile tournaments but heavily targets the PUBG Mobile community as a whole.

InyoDream represented European powerhouse Fnatic when they first arrived in India. After Fnatic picked up a power-packed roster of star team XSpark, they made some changes in due course of time and bid adieu to ‘InyoDreams’ in the process.

A post shared by Ujwal (@ig_inyodream)

He is into limelight yet again but this time, InyoDream has raised a new issue that targets the alleged dark side of PUBG Mobile community in India. In his post it is stated that such teams and its owners are paying up to ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 for each slot or the tournament organizers “demand” such an amount to provide a slot.

In the scrimmage and tournament, several powerhouses from India play very frequently and often some new names are added to this list. InyoDream says that major teams like Fnatic, TSM, GodLike and U-Mumba Esports “can already see what is going on” and this indicates that they already aware of this malpractice. He ends the post stating that everybody deserves a fair chance and hence, purchasing slots is not a correct thing.

These are some serious allegations that include several big names in it. PUBG Mobile is already banned in India and several pros have opted to train in the Korean version of this game to be sharp and not lose their edge. Such a heavy accusation in this period has raised several questions regarding the operations of top-tier PUBG Mobile scrimmages and tournaments in India.

Names are not included in this post so it is not possible to identify the target but if slots are being sold out, the transparency and sustainability of such privately hosted tournaments will remain uncertain in the future.

GODSENT confirmed new CSGO Roster led by Brazilian Stars

After transferring the old CSGO roster last week, the Swedish organization Godsent finally announced their new CSGO roster featuring three former MIBR stars Taco, Felps, and Dead. Last Sunday, Godsent tweeted their new profile picture. The Godsent logo was made up of the Brazilian flag in the new picture. It basically gave a hint towards the Godsent Brazilian roster.

Stats Reveal Purple to be the Best Colour in CSGO Competitive

The series of memes initially started when the official Twitter handle of CSGO posted a Tweet in July 2020 claiming that “when playing Competitive, purple is the best color to be.” The tweet that was deleted afterwards left many CSGO fans confused, while some others believed it to be a joke.

However, about six months later, it turns out that the Tweet wasn’t simply a meme but an actual fact. A recent analysis conducted by Leetify has revealed that CSGO players who use the colour purple in Competitive perform the best in-game.

The analysis that took into account over 20,000 Matchmaking games shows that purple players have the highest average HLTV rating of 1.03 followed by yellow at 1.02 and blue at 1.01. It also shows that orange is the worst performing color in-game with an HLTV rating of 0.99.

While it can’t be conclusively said that choosing purple in CSGO competitive will make you a better player, the stats were enough to draw the attention of the CSGO developers themselves, who replied with a GIF saying “I know” to the data shown.

World record holder accused of cheating during COD tournament

0

The Call of Duty pro scene had seen more controversies in the past year than ever before, ever since the CDL shifted to PCs, the league has been opened up for cheaters to do their thing. With accusations flowing around on multiple teams, Warzone pro Tommey has pointed fingers at Pacesetter on the live stream.

Pacesetter was previously subjected to cheating accusations but nothing concert was found to convict him with. After losing a tournament game against his team, Tommey decided to keep a close eye on him, looking for any suspicious actions hinting at something shady. He the distance to ask for a monitor cam in his stream which Pacesetter conveniently ignored and went offline, deleting all the VODs, the suspicion grew far intense when he openly denied cooperating with the tournament admins.

There were more than enough clips that justified the accusations, but calling someone of his stature a cheater is a tall order task in itself as one must have enough evidence, lacking which will them slandered by the community for spreading fake news. Enough compelling evidence surfaced when the admin asked him to run the anti-cheat client and asked him to share his screen and show his activity log. Pace asked the admin to wait but never returned, which in itself is a punishable offense.

Without any proper investigation, nothing can be confirmed given the uses Xsplit for streaming, as it is a streamer software that can be used to conveniently hide cheats in streams. All these freshly surfaced accusations have cornered him, he will be under a strict investigation going forward and hopefully be caught if any of these allegations are true.

Gabe Newell Defends CD Projekt Red After Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Issues

0

CDPR is under extreme pressure from investors and fans after the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077. The sci-fi open-world RPG was one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2020. While the anticipation till the launch day was high, the game fell flat in delivering a pleasant gaming experience for everyone. While the game struggled with bugs and glitches on PC and next-gen consoles, the unacceptable state of the game on old-gen consoles angered everyone and resulted in a massive backlash for the company.

While speaking in an interview with TVNZ, president of game distribution giant Valve, and a fellow developer himself, Gabe Newell spoke about the launch controversy surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 and provided some insight in favor of CDPR.

Expressing his sympathy for the creators of Cyberpunk 2077, Newell expressed his appreciation for developers for the tremendous amount of work that went into building the ambitious game world. He said that “there are aspects of the game that are just brilliant, and it shows a tremendous amount of work — it’s unfair to throw stones at any other developer because just getting something as complex and ambitious as that out the door is pretty amazing.”

According to Newell, there are a lot of happy gamers in the PC space, the ones most visible to Valve. The reception of the game on the Steam store has been tremendous and the number of active players also indicates the same. While there are still some bugs and glitches on the PC version, the overall stability and playability of the game have largely improved after weeks of patches.

Speaking about Sony’s decision to pull the game from the Playstation Store for an indefinite time and offering refunds, Newell said while the game was buggy and had performance issues on older generations, the “unusual” move to remove the game from the store was strange. Newell suggests that “People get mad because they care”. He shares his experience of receiving abusive mails for Valve games and rather than responding to them, the best course of action he took was to learn from the situation.

“When people have those kinds of reactions, my first thought is that this is an opportunity for us, and I assume that the Cyberpunk 2077 developers are similarly just using it to crank through and make improvements that are going to be beneficial to their customers.

“They have a long history of doing a great job, of continuing to invest in their products over time and I suspect that they’re going to be very good at making their customers happy over time.

“Everybody knows that if you’re in this business, expectations are high, and if you do it well people are going to let you know and if you failed to meet those expectations they’re are going to let you know — that’s part of why it’s a fun industry.”

Further, he adds that how the expectations are high in the gaming industry and failing to meet them is par for the course and an opportunity to learn from. He believes that the developers at CD Projekt Red will reflect on the state of the game and work hard towards offering the best game for their customers.
