Valkyrae Surpasses Pokimane As The Most Viewed Female Streamer Of 2020

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’re surely familiar with the name of Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter, the YouTube Gaming star who has garnered the attention of millions of video game enthusiasts worldwide with her livestreams and content on the platform.

While she had already been declared as the fastest-growing female streamer of all time, her popularity still used to fall short of Twitch streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys, who boasted a follower count of over 7 million on the livestreaming website.

However, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, as a recent report from Stream Hatchet has revealed that Valkyrae has overtaken Pokimane as the most-viewed female streamer of 2020 across all video game streaming platforms.

Over the past year, Valkyrae has managed to accumulate a total of 23.6 million hours watched, while Poki only had 23.3 million hours to her channel. The duo were trailed by ‘saddummy’, ‘pekora’, and ‘Jinnytty’ with 20.1, 14.6, and 14.0 millions of hours watched respectively.

While Valkyrae was initially struggling to maintain an average viewer count of 5,000 towards the beginning of 2020, her YouTube channel experienced a significant boost when she started playing the murder-mystery title ‘Among Us’ and began collaborating with other popular streamers like Disguised Toast, Sykkuno, Pokimane, Pewdiepie, or Moistcr1tikal.

Towards the end of the year, Valkyrae was regularly seen rocking peak concurrent viewer counts of over 100,000, which is a remarkable achievement in itself.

xQc is the most watched streamer on Twitch

Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel had a wild 2020, for the better part of which was shrouded under some controversy or some drama, but none of it was close enough to stop xQc from dominating Twitch as the streamer with a whopping 149 million watch hours.

The former Overwatch professional turned streamer ranked 14 among the most followed streamers on Twitch for 2020, attesting to his popularity in the community. 13 well known streamers have ranked ahead of him but he managed to top the watch hours charts, which begs the question of how it happened.

xQc usually has long grinding sessions on Twitch that sometimes lasts for over 10 hours, and his 4.4 million follower count brings a significantly high number of concurrent watchers that added up to his 149 million watch hours for 2020.

Other than just grinding Twitch for hours, several other factors have contributed significantly to his success.

xQc for one doesn’t stick to one game, rather he has tried multiple games from different genres over the years with Rust, a survival game being his latest point of focus. He brings his eccentric personality to the stream which his fans find funny and they can’t get enough of it. From pro plays to hilarious fails, his streams got it all.

One thing should be noted that a lot of streamers left Twitch, some returned but quite a few big names parted their ways for good. Big names like Shroud and Ninja left Twitch for an exclusive deal with Mixer but only a handful of their audience jumped to the new platform, most of them stayed behind and contributed to the growth of others.

Outer Space FPS game Boundary coming to PS4 and PC this Summer

One-of-a-kind space shooter, Boundary is finally coming to PS4 and PC this summer. Developed by Studio Surgical Scalpels and published by Skystone Games, Boundary was first announced in April 2020 last year by Sony.

The zero-gravity first-person shooter was originally expected to launch sometime last year but due to the pandemic and Studios moving towards WFH, the game was delayed.

Players will take on the role of “astroperators,” also known as AOs. Every AO will have its own set of active and passive abilities as well as different basic capabilities like armor or health.

Every AO would fill their own unique roles in the harsh battlefield of space. Each AO comes equipped with a special all-white combat spacesuit and also carries an extra-vehicular backpack along with a Grapple hook and a mix of modern ballistic and futuristic weapons.

The main differentiating point of the game from other FPS will be its unique movement system. Players will have full freedom of movement and aren’t restricted by gravity or ground. While the movement is unrestricted for players, the same movement rules will apply to the debris. Floating debris or a solar panel might make for a good blind spot to conceal player approach, but the same can become a deadly weapon if players aren’t careful.

How to get Boundary On Steam

The game is already available to wishlist off the Steam store here. The developer, Surgical Scalpels is also holding a special 3-day playtests event this weekend (January 15-17) from 10 AM PT to 12 AM. For those looking to participate in the event, check out the official Twitter here to claim yourself a promotion key.

Twitter helps Valkyrae get rid of stalker

game awards 2020 winners

Rachel ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter was forced to turn her Twitter profile to private following online abuse by a stalker, who for the past few months has reportedly made over a hundred accounts after Valkyrae kept blocking him.

Valkyrae has amassed over 3 million subscribers after shifting to YouTube from Twitch. Joining early in the Among Us hype train has helped her become the most-watched female stream of 2020, breezing past Pokimane. 3 million subscribers boast the obvious implications of her popularity which, as good as it sounds comes with its fair share of shortcomings.

Valkyrae for the past few months was subjected to a stalker, after finding no way out, she was forced to private her Twitter account as despite blocking it, the stalker would make another account to trouble her.

She kept blocking the person in question until there were over a hundred accounts. It took all those stalker accounts for her to reach the boiling point upon which she locked her Twitter.

A desperate Hofstetter called Twitter for help, suggested them to implement a feature that will effectively block all accounts from the same device thus putting an end to the stalking session however that might go in vain as a psychologically challenged person might jump between devices to continue doing it all over again.

She came back on Twitter thanking them for their assistance, meaning they got rid of the stalker.

The good mood of her and unlocked Twitter are evidences of it. With this, they set an example that there is no room for harassment on their platform. There is no clear explanation of what exactly they did, but they were able to deal with such a thing effectively and swiftly keeping a good environment on their platform.

The third map was Anubis and NIP dominated the entire map and easily closed it out 16-4 in their favour.

The fourth map of the game was Cobblestone which saw BIG trailing behind in the first half by 5-10 but then bouncing back in the map and winning it 16-13 and taking it to the final map of the series.

The fifth and final map of the series was Tuscan which was quite interesting to see as the map was seen to be played for the second time since its announcement. Recently the trailer of Tuscan’s closed beta came out and the revamped Tuscan has undergone significant improvements over the previous version.
